This lucky little guy is being fostered in one of Westside’s most experienced foster homes, where he receives ample affection and direction while he waits for that very special ‘forever’ home. Clifford holds a remarkable passion for those he trusts, enthusiastically greeting all members of the foster family with leaps of joy and ample wet kisses when they return home, especially enjoying hugs and cuddles on the sofa with the family. He savors the energetic playtime in the yard with his foster fur siblings as much as he does the gentler long walks in the neighborhood with his favorite people. Clifford’s prior life on the streets of LA came with its challenges -- where he did his best to love and protect the homeless woman who eventually relinquished him because she could no longer care for him – but Clifford’s life took an extraordinary turn with Westside. His foster family is so proud of the crucial adjustments that Clifford has made to this significant lifestyle change, facilitated by an environment of trust and compassion that was offered to this sweet young guy. Charlie is a 7-year-old, 15-pound female terrier mix from Alabama. Charlie was rescued from a known abuse situation so is very timid at first and scares easily with fast movements or loud noises. Charlie is very cuddly once she feels comfortable, and ends up being a velcro dog once she is attached. She follows her foster mom everywhere. She loves to go out on walks and is usually great at not minding other dogs or people. She will get spooked with loud noises, or if anyone tries to pet her. He future owner will need to advocate for her space and not allow strangers to approach her or pet her. When someone enters the apartment, she barks at first, runs and hide, and then comes out with her tail wagging to sniff the person. She'll then usually just retreat back to her bed while they visit. She has been wee wee pad trained while in her foster home but it still scared on walks outside and hasn't gotten the hang out an outside bathroom schedule. She is a yappier dog that squeals when spooked, and suffers from separation anxiety and barks when left alone. Her foster mom has been working on this with Charlie but her ideal home will be one where her family is home most of the day or in a less densely populated are. Charlie lives with both dogs and cats now. She is great with other dogs and tries to play with cats so may annoy a resident cat who prefers their space. Charlie should live in a home without children do to her initial fear and anxiety. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi. Her right eye was beginning to cause pain and no longer responding to 5 different glaucoma medications for over a year and had to be removed. Her remaining left eye is now healthier, and she can see out of it much better. Since Alice has damaged/deformed toes and feet, and missing her right eye, gets ongoing cold laser treatment, and various eye medications to keep her left eye healthy, we need sponsors who would like to help her.. MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines.
