Story
Clifford von Breese is an adorable 1-2 year-old jack russell? mix who is very loving and sweet with his bonded people. This lucky little guy is being fostered in one of Westside’s most experienced foster homes, where he receives ample affection and direction while he waits for that very special ‘forever’ home. Clifford holds a remarkable passion for those he trusts, enthusiastically greeting all members of the foster family with leaps of joy and ample wet kisses when they return home, especially enjoying hugs and cuddles on the sofa with the family. He savors the energetic playtime in the yard with his foster fur siblings as much as he does the gentler long walks in the neighborhood with his favorite people. Clifford’s prior life on the streets of LA came with its challenges -- where he did his best to love and protect the homeless woman who eventually relinquished him because she could no longer care for him – but Clifford’s life took an extraordinary turn with Westside. His foster family is so proud of the crucial adjustments that Clifford has made to this significant lifestyle change, facilitated by an environment of trust and compassion that was offered to this sweet young guy. Being a super smart lad, Clifford quickly became convinced of his great fortune and has blossomed into a well-adjusted member of his foster family. Clifford sleeps quietly in his crate all night, is housebroken, and otherwise very trustworthy in the family’s house. Visitors to the home can be initially daunting for him, but Clifford’s energy can easily be redirected to some yummy treats or fun toys while he gains comfort around new people. Because of his background experiences, there will be an adjustment period for his forever family that will include patience and slow introductions; his ideal home would be on the quieter side without young children and without frequent visitors. Clifford can't wait to meet you and to begin the newest chapter of his life....your efforts will be richly rewarded as you witness all the love that Clifford has to give you in return. Clifford von Breese is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Clifford von Breese YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Izzy was adopted by me at 4 months . She’s been with me for 3 birthdays already . It breaks my heart to consider rehoming her, I recently had a baby and she’s allergic to dogs. We’ve gone to see an allergist to be sure and she is unfortunately I need to re home Izzy. Taking her to a shelter is a no , I am looking for a sweet family to take her in and love her just as much as we do. She loves car rides , especially to the park or even run errands . On weekends she goes with me to Trader Joe’s and now she’s a regular getting her Milk bone treats . Izzy is a very healthy dog and never have had issues, we keep her up to date with all physicals and vaccinations.

Special note: As a side effect from measle, has tic symptoms, weak front legs and inablity to produce tears. Due to weak front legs, may have some amount of shaking but has no problem at all to go for a walk. Slippery floors may casue her to slip some times but other than that, there are no problems. Mary's left eye has a bit of murky makrs which are improving over time. She has been puting artifical tears to help it. Story
DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi. For more information about DARWIN, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal Giving donation and sponsorship email address)

ALICE-Special Needs/Sponsors IMPORTANT: The Nature Network Inc. is a small 501c3 non-profit no-kill organization. Most animals we rescue are abandoned at the pound, who no one wants--seniors and special-needs. 100% of all funds are used for them—extensive veterinary and medical costs, prescription meds, rehab, special foods, supplements, and more. We are deeply grateful for help. To meet us, help us, or if you know people or businesses who would like to, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal Giving email address for donation and sponsorship). Mailing: The Nature Network Inc., 3826 Grand View Blvd., #66790, Los Angeles, CA 90066. All donations are used for our rescued animals. No funds are used for salaries, advertising, social media, or human expenses. All of us, including board members, are volunteers. Our veterinary references are available upon request. ALICE is a Jack Russell/Bull Terrier unusual mix. Alice is sponsorship only at this point, as she has damaged ankles and toes and her right eye needed to be removed. She was rescued from one of the Los Angeles City Animal Shelters just in time. She was slated for death because they claimed she was still on medication, which in fact she no longer was! Alice now receives cold laser treatment to her various joints every week which has enabled her to move about well and be able to walk more smoothly without the pain that she had before. Her treatment has also shrunk the swelling on her ankle joints. Her right eye was beginning to cause pain and no longer responding to 5 different glaucoma medications for over a year and had to be removed. Her remaining left eye is now healthier, and she can see out of it much better. Since Alice has damaged/deformed toes and feet, and missing her right eye, gets ongoing cold laser treatment, and various eye medications to keep her left eye healthy, we need sponsors who would like to help her.. To sponsor and know more about Alice and her issues, please contact: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal donation/sponsorship email address)

Story
MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Millie (Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).
