Story
Clifford von Breese is an adorable 1-2 year-old jack russell? mix who is very loving and sweet with his bonded people. This lucky little guy is being fostered in one of Westside’s most experienced foster homes, where he receives ample affection and direction while he waits for that very special ‘forever’ home. Clifford holds a remarkable passion for those he trusts, enthusiastically greeting all members of the foster family with leaps of joy and ample wet kisses when they return home, especially enjoying hugs and cuddles on the sofa with the family. He savors the energetic playtime in the yard with his foster fur siblings as much as he does the gentler long walks in the neighborhood with his favorite people. Clifford’s prior life on the streets of LA came with its challenges -- where he did his best to love and protect the homeless woman who eventually relinquished him because she could no longer care for him – but Clifford’s life took an extraordinary turn with Westside. His foster family is so proud of the crucial adjustments that Clifford has made to this significant lifestyle change, facilitated by an environment of trust and compassion that was offered to this sweet young guy. Being a super smart lad, Clifford quickly became convinced of his great fortune and has blossomed into a well-adjusted member of his foster family. Clifford sleeps quietly in his crate all night, is housebroken, and otherwise very trustworthy in the family’s house. Visitors to the home can be initially daunting for him, but Clifford’s energy can easily be redirected to some yummy treats or fun toys while he gains comfort around new people. Because of his background experiences, there will be an adjustment period for his forever family that will include patience and slow introductions; his ideal home would be on the quieter side without young children and without frequent visitors. Clifford can't wait to meet you and to begin the newest chapter of his life....your efforts will be richly rewarded as you witness all the love that Clifford has to give you in return. Clifford von Breese is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Clifford von Breese YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Hi, I’m looking to rehome my beautiful 1-year-old puppy due to a divorce and my inability to give her the time and care she truly deserves. She’s a super friendly, intelligent, and absolutely adorable puppy. She’s great with kids and other pets, hyperactive, and very adaptable to human moods. I’m looking for kind and loving people who will provide her with a good home full of love and attention. I don’t want to take her to a shelter because I care deeply for her and want her to be with a great family. She is microchipped, up to date on all her shots, and partially trained (though she will need further training)

Story
Charlie is a 7-year-old, 15-pound female terrier mix from Alabama. Charlie was rescued from a known abuse situation so is very timid at first and scares easily with fast movements or loud noises. Charlie is very cuddly once she feels comfortable, and ends up being a velcro dog once she is attached. She follows her foster mom everywhere. She loves to go out on walks and is usually great at not minding other dogs or people. She will get spooked with loud noises, or if anyone tries to pet her. He future owner will need to advocate for her space and not allow strangers to approach her or pet her. When someone enters the apartment, she barks at first, runs and hide, and then comes out with her tail wagging to sniff the person. She'll then usually just retreat back to her bed while they visit. She has been wee wee pad trained while in her foster home but it still scared on walks outside and hasn't gotten the hang out an outside bathroom schedule. She is a yappier dog that squeals when spooked, and suffers from separation anxiety and barks when left alone.  Her foster mom has been working on this with Charlie but her ideal home will be one where her family is home most of the day or in a less densely populated are. Charlie lives with both dogs and cats now. She is great with other dogs and tries to play with cats so may annoy a resident cat who prefers their space. Charlie should live in a home without children do to her initial fear and anxiety. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Charlie, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
DARWIN is currently special-needs as he recovers from an abusive home, and so far he is doing well with rehab, but we still have a way to go. Darwin is a wonderful, affectionate, and loving boy. Although he likes playing fetch and chasing his ball, he equally enjoys being a couch potato and cuddling and sleeping. He is often quiet, and unlike many of the higher-energy Jack Russells. He is friendly and sweet but terribly fearful, and is an indoor dog since he has white, very fine hair, can sunburn easily, and also freeze in the winter. Darwin is housetrained, walks well on his leash, obeys simple commands, and is friendly with other friendly dogs, both female and male, and smaller dogs. Darwin is about 8 years old and is neutered. Darwin’s parents split up and neither one of them was able to keep Darwin. Darwin is a smooth-coat Jack Russell with perhaps a tiny touch of Corgi. For more information about DARWIN, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal Giving donation and sponsorship email address)

ALICE-Special Needs/Sponsors IMPORTANT: The Nature Network Inc. is a small 501c3 non-profit no-kill organization. Most animals we rescue are abandoned at the pound, who no one wants--seniors and special-needs. 100% of all funds are used for them—extensive veterinary and medical costs, prescription meds, rehab, special foods, supplements, and more. We are deeply grateful for help. To meet us, help us, or if you know people or businesses who would like to, please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal Giving email address for donation and sponsorship). Mailing: The Nature Network Inc., 3826 Grand View Blvd., #66790, Los Angeles, CA 90066. All donations are used for our rescued animals. No funds are used for salaries, advertising, social media, or human expenses. All of us, including board members, are volunteers. Our veterinary references are available upon request. ALICE is a Jack Russell/Bull Terrier unusual mix. Alice is sponsorship only at this point, as she has damaged ankles and toes and her right eye needed to be removed. She was rescued from one of the Los Angeles City Animal Shelters just in time. She was slated for death because they claimed she was still on medication, which in fact she no longer was! Alice now receives cold laser treatment to her various joints every week which has enabled her to move about well and be able to walk more smoothly without the pain that she had before. Her treatment has also shrunk the swelling on her ankle joints. Her right eye was beginning to cause pain and no longer responding to 5 different glaucoma medications for over a year and had to be removed. Her remaining left eye is now healthier, and she can see out of it much better. Since Alice has damaged/deformed toes and feet, and missing her right eye, gets ongoing cold laser treatment, and various eye medications to keep her left eye healthy, we need sponsors who would like to help her.. To sponsor and know more about Alice and her issues, please contact: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal donation/sponsorship email address)

🍊 Meet Clementine: Your Pocket-Sized Bundle of Joy! 🐾 Looking for a sweet little companion to brighten your days? Meet Clementine, a charming pint-sized pup who's waiting for her forever family. This 16-pound cutie may be small in stature, but she's got a heart of gold and personality for days! Think of a delightful mix between a bouncy terrier and a herding-happy Corgi – that's our Clementine! With her adorably long body and short legs, she's like a living, breathing cartoon character who loves nothing more than playfully bouncing around and showing off her natural herding instincts. She's a natural snuggler who forms beautiful bonds with her human friends. In fact, she's already proven herself to be quite the social butterfly – she recently had a successful meet-and-greet with a senior bulldog, showing she can get along wonderfully with other dogs! Clementine would flourish in a loving home where she can come out of her shell and let her playful spirit soar. Whether you're looking for a cuddly companion or an entertaining friend for your resident dog, this little sweetheart could be your perfect match. Story
Felicia is 1 year old, 11-pound female terrier mix from Texas!  Felicia is a gentle, curious pup. She enjoys being close to you and getting a spoonful of Greek yogurt as a treat. Felicia appears to be pee-pad trained. Her other skills are a work in progress, as she is still decompressing after her long trip from Texas. Felicia’s forever family will need to continue working with her to build her trust and reinforce and advance the progress she’s been making. Felicia’s crate is her safe space, and she sleeps in the crate at nighttime or when her foster family leaves the house. She has a little bit of separation anxiety - she is okay being left alone at home, but she hates when her foster family is in another room! She prefers her crate to be in the bedroom so she can be near her foster family over night. Felicia is looking to be part of a low key family that can teach her to love and trust. Because she is so gentle, we think she’d be okay in a home with children. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Felicia, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie is a 1-year-old, 13.5-pound male Jack Russell Terrier mix from Texas. This sweet pup is adjusting to life in Brooklyn with his foster family and making strides every day. Frankie came from a hoarding situation, so he is still working through some anxiety and learning how to trust the world around him. His forever family will need to be patient and help him continue his journey to confidence and happiness. Personality: Frankie is a complete sweetheart. While he may take some time to warm up to new people, once he feels safe, he transforms into a total cuddlebug! He loves snuggling up with his foster family, curling up in fleece blankets, and chewing on his favorite toys—especially his beloved Lambchop plushie. Frankie enjoys quiet moments but also appreciates bursts of playtime and activity. Training Progress: Frankie is doing well with learning basic commands like “sit” and is working on other obedience training. He has been using pee pads indoors as he continues to build confidence with outdoor potty training. Frankie is also working on his leash skills, and his foster family is helping him feel more comfortable exploring the world outside. Home Environment: Frankie thrives in a quiet, low-key environment where he can feel safe and secure. He would do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes and help him feel more confident. Frankie does well with other dogs, cats, and children, making him a great fit for a variety of families. He is crate-trained and finds comfort in his cozy crate during the day. Ideal Family: Frankie’s ideal family will be patient and understanding of his need for time to adjust. They should be committed to reinforcing and advancing the progress he’s made with his foster family. Frankie needs a home that offers a balance of quiet downtime and gentle, engaging activity to help him continue to grow. Special Note: Frankie has only been with his foster family for a week, and while he’s still very shy, he’s already making progress. He’s begun taking treats from his foster mom’s hand and even snuggling in bed—a testament to the loving companion he is becoming. With the right family, Frankie will blossom into a loyal and affectionate pup who will bring joy and love to his forever home. If you’re ready to give Frankie the safe, loving home he deserves, apply to adopt him today! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Frankie, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. Story
MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Millie (Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).
