Story
Currently in Vancouver!!! Meet Macy, a delightful 5-year-old spayed female terrier mix with an adorable brown and white coat, weighing in at 6.5kg. She’s the perfect combination of charm and tranquility, and her personality is sure to steal your heart. Macy might be a bit shy at first, but offer her a treat, and she’ll warm up in no time—letting you pet her and even showing her belly! While she’s not a fan of sudden movements or loud noises from children under 13, she’s otherwise gentle and approachable. She’s even comfortable being picked up when cradled properly. When it comes to other dogs, Macy is polite and curious, happily greeting them but preferring to stick to herself rather than joining in on rough-and-tumble play. She’s more at ease with dogs her size or smaller and tends to shy away from big or overly energetic ones. Even when provoked, Macy is the peacekeeper, quietly stepping away and showing little interest in canine drama. On walks, her focus is fully on her human, even when cats cross her path! Macy has a wonderfully low energy level and loves nothing more than relaxing at home. She’s a dream on walks, never pulling on the leash and happily matching her pace to yours. She’s quiet as a mouse, doesn’t guard her food, and is perfectly comfortable in a crate. While car rides can be a bit daunting for her, she’ll do fine if carried into the vehicle. Plus, she’s 100% potty trained for outdoor living—no mess, no stress! Macy’s foster journey has been incredible. Having started as a timid soul, she’s spent six months with a trainer and has made tremendous strides in overcoming her fears of people. Now, she confidently shows her belly to strangers and enjoys affection from those around her. She knows basic commands like “come,” “sit,” and “paw,” and while she’s calm at home, she’s always ready for a cuddle or a stroll with her favorite humans. Maxy is great with grooming too—nail trimming, bathing, and even teeth brushing are no problem! If you’re looking for a mellow, sweet companion who’s ready to love and be loved, Macy might just be the perfect match for you! Story
Meet Daisy! This sweet 2-year-old spayed terrier mix weighs 7.5kg and is a rescue pup from euthanasia. Daisy is a social butterfly who adores people, whether they’re familiar faces or complete strangers. She’ll happily approach for pets and cuddles, even showing her belly to new friends. She’s easy to handle and doesn’t mind being picked up, even letting you scoop her up with your arms under her belly. When it comes to other dogs, Daisy is just as friendly. She loves greeting canine friends—big, small, or anywhere in between—and is always up for a play session. People are her ultimate priority, though; if you’re nearby, you’ll always have her attention! Daisy’s reaction to cats and birds depends on their behavior. Calm cats don’t faze her, but she’s naturally curious about those that run away. However, with a bit of guidance, she quickly redirects and follows your lead. With a slightly above-average energy level, Daisy thrives in active households where she can stay busy and engaged. She loves the outdoors and will happily accompany you on walks, though she does have her own ideas about which way to go. Thankfully, she’s easy to guide and makes a fantastic adventure buddy. Daisy is polite about food and doesn’t guard it, whether it’s around people or other dogs. Occasionally, she’ll bark to get your attention when she wants something, often just to remind you she’s there! She’s crate-trained and loves having her own space to relax, often choosing to rest inside on her own. Daisy also enjoys car rides and can hop in and out with a little assistance due to her short legs. Mostly a fan of outdoor potty breaks, Daisy’s adaptable, fun-loving personality and playful spirit make her a wonderful addition to an active family. If you’re ready for a loyal, energetic companion who’ll shower you with love, Daisy might just be your perfect match! Story
(BONDED WITH CEREAL)My name is SOLSTICE (Lixia) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Terrier/Pekinese mixAge: 6 yrsGender: maleWeight: 13 lbsHeight: 8 inchesCountry of origin: ChinaHighlight(s): affectionate, cleanly, independent, gentle, quiet, obedient While independent, I also love affection. Since cleanliness is a big thing of mine, you can be assured you'll be snuggling a clean pup. My Chinese name, Lixia, means the beginning of Summer in my language. Quite appropriate, wouldn't you say? As I will bring sunshine into your life.A person who lives in the neighborhood of where we were found as strays saw us. Over the past four years, we were witnessed living together, relying on occasional leftover food from neighbors. This person always felt sorry for us, but lacked the means, ability, and courage to rescue us, all the while feeling guilty and helpless. Earlier this year, this lovely person noticed our condition deteriorating. We were navigating busy streets, scavenging from trash cans, and drinking dirty water mixed with food scraps and garbage. Our fur started getting matted and falling out, and I developed a bloody eye growth.Determined to save us, our overseeing angel posted our situation on social media. A rescuer  saw the plea and decided to help rescue us. We were transported to a nearby hospital for checkups and treatment. We were both severely malnourished and had poor coat conditions. We were properly treated and I underwent surgery for my eye problem. After treatment, we were discharged. Now our rescuer has taken us back to her town for foster care, until we can find a home together. I have been shaved down to treat my skin and remove all the mats. No worries, it will grow back for new photos later. It was discovered I have hypothyroidism and am on Euthyrox medication for it. I was checked for Cushing's, but that was negative. My most recent vet visit showed my hypothyroidism levels are back to normal, but continued monitoring is necessary, as it may be a lifelong condition. I have lost a few teeth and had dental tartar, but recently had a cleaning. I underwent eye surgery and needs regular eye drops to prevent dry eye. The vet confirmed my health is up to par at this time otherwise.I am well-behaved on a leash. Though I can get anxious if I feel too much separation from my people and quickly try to catch up. I am a sweet dog with an excellent temperament. I even willingly wear clothes. Good for those cold Canadian winters.Gentle and quiet is how my rescuer describes me. I am also an obedient pupper. I will line up patiently to wait for food too.My friend Xiaoman and I must be adopted together, as we are pretty bonded after surviving the streets together. We would likely adapt to most any home. We get along with other dogs, though we haven't been introduced to cats. This includes our transportation to Canada, if we are able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2081369##

Story
URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Good day. I'm Kaysee (Daisy) and here's a bit if ingo about me:Breed: Jack Russell Terrier mixAge: 4 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 16 kg (35 lbs)Height: 47 cm (18-1/2 in)Country of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: confident, loves games, active, intelligent, inquisitive, independent, feisty Being confident, I am always into learning new games, especially things like agility skills, hoping you are into active fun and adventure too.My rescuer thinks I might have been abandoned or lost by a tourist. I was found eating trash by a dumpster and was soaking-wet from days in the rain. (Our city is the rainiest in the Black Sea region.) My hind leg or hip seemed to be injured and I had trouble walking. Thankfully, they brought me to the shelter, so I could be safe.Since I am inquisitive and intelligent, it would be terrific if you could teach me new things. I really love going for walks and am excellent on leash.Other enjoyments include swimming and playing in the water.I am affectionate and love getting attention from my humans. For example, I really enjoy being brushed, groomed, and having my teeth brushed. I'm also an excellent model and can pose very nicely. I love wearing different outfits and getting my picture taken.I am an adventurous eater, too and like trying out different kinds of food, like carrots, pumpkin, and peanut butter. While I play well with other dogs, if persistently annoyed, I will in typical Jack fashion, give them a what for. So probably good if I have a sibling that they understand boundaries. I'm not competitive though and will share human attentions with others. My rescuers noticed that I tend to sit on one haunch, which rubs my ankle raw on the ground. When treated with ointment and wrapped in a stretchy bandage though, I keep pulling it off. My leg is healed though. They think it may be due to stress from overcrowding. Vets here can’t find anything wrong with me, but unfortunately, vet care here is poor. I would benefit from more personal attention, which they find alleviates much of my distress.Overall, I'm a nice little dog, who just needs a chance to flourish in a regular home environment. Energy Level:  ModerateI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: Unknown, but probably noKids: Unknown, but probably yes Fears: None observed. Please be patient with me during my transition.Training:Leash training: Yes, superb. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: It is uncertain if from a past injury or if some other hip issue exists. I could use a further eval.I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and will be microchipped before arrival. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Story
Hi, my name is Freeze and here is a little info about me:Breed: Terrier mixAge: 1-1/2 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 3.5 kgHeight: 24 cmCountry of origin: Middle EastHighlight(s): Clever, affectionate, loving, curious, playful, sweet, cuddly This clever little girl is ready to start a new life with someone who will appreciate all her wits and give her loads of cuddles.I was dropped off at the shelter by my previous owners, as they no longer wanted to care for me (unfortunately this is a common story in my country, as people don't always view their dogs as members of the family or sometimes they no longer have resources to care for them.)My curious little self got myself into a bit of a tight squeeze the other day. My rescuer couldn't find me anywhere. After spending some time searching for me, they finally found me inside of the freezer, which one of the employees had gone into earlier - I'm a quick little houdini and snuck in without the employee noticing. I was scared and shaking when they found me after a couple hours, but I didn't even bark while trapped inside. Luckily I am perfectly ok from my ordeal, albeit cold, and my rescuer found some inspiration for naming me - "Freeze!"Everyone who meets me says I am curious, affectionate and playful. I love to play with dogs as much as people and I love to play with toys too. Oh and chew sticks are great.Curiosity can obviously get me into trouble, so my new family should keep an eye out for me when they're not cuddling up to me on the couch. That same curiosity can make me eager & easy to learn though. I've already learned how to walk well on leash and I am friendly with everyone. My ideal life is spending time on your lap and loving my family to no end. I'd probably enjoy a nice warm jacket for winter. Teehee. I've already become acclimated for Canadian winters, as you have read. So, we should do fine taking leisurely walks together.  Other vids and me with dogs: https://youtube.com/shorts/duGHTypDrHY?feature=share, https://youtube.com/shorts/7sDqtLGkLnU?feature=share, https://youtube.com/shorts/tBv2ougWkx0. Hi there! My name is Baxter (Belfi) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Poodle Terrier MixAge: 3 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 30 lbsHeight: 20 inches Highlight(s):  Resilient and cuddly survivor with a heart full of love! I'll arrive in Vancuver on January 25th, 2025 Tail wags and gentle kisses - that's my way of saying hello! I'm a total love bug who lives for cuddles and belly rubs. My foster family says my sweet eyes and tender heart will melt anyone's soul in seconds!I was rescued from a heartbreaking situation where I was being mistreated by someone struggling with addiction. My amazing rescuer found me tied up and hurt, with a broken arm. She acted quickly, took me to the vet, and they fixed me up with surgery. I now have a compression plate in my arm, but I’m fully healed and can run, jump, and play like any other pup! Unfortunately, my foster family can’t keep me because one of them is battling cancer, so I’m hoping to find a loving forever home soon. I’m a kind-hearted, gentle, and playful boy who adores being around people and other animals. I’m not a barker, but I love to stay close to my humans and don’t enjoy being left alone for too long. I’m super cuddly and will happily join you for adventures or snuggles on the couch. Energy Level: Moderate. I enjoy hikes, playtime, and relaxing with my family. I get along with:Dogs: Yes! I love playing with other pups.Cats: Yes! I’m good with cats.Kids: Yes! I’m great with humans of all ages. Fears: non-observed  TRAINING:Leash Skills: Yes, I’m leash-trained and enjoy going for walks.House Trained: Yes   HEALTH NOTES:I had surgery on my arm and now have a compression plate, but I’m totally healthy and fully recovered. I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. Most passengers from the Middle East now require a fee to accompany a dog on a flight. Due to this, if a rescuer finds a flight with this requirement, we will contact you to see if you are willing to pay the passenger. You are under no obligation to do this. If not, another flight will need to be searched for, though there is no guarantee a free or lower cost one will be found. Though oft times a passenger is requesting higher amounts, the fee will not exceed $250. Our rescuers work extremely hard finding flights and spend tremendous amounts of money caring for and sending these dogs to safety. They simply haven't the extra money to cover this. Thank you for your understanding. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
