Story
Bella is a Siberian Husky with a big personality and is searching for her forever home. She enjoys going on long walks for exercise, chewing rope toys, and playing fetch. Because of her breed's nature and her age (8 mo), she would benefit from a cat-free and young child(under 12)-free household. She does get a long with other dogs but prefers larger breeds to play with as she can be very dominating to smaller-medium dogs. If interested in meeting Bella, please do research on the Siberian Husky breed as they do require an EXPERIENCED owner. Additionally, please note that Bella has a tendency to jump when saying hello and get easily distracted, it is extremely urgent to engage in repetitive training on a daily basis. Bella will NOT benefit from an owner that will be away for majority of the day or for first-time large dog breed owners. She is crate trained, potty trained (though the first weeks might be an adjustment to a new environment) , and currently lives with other dogs/cats.

Story
Meet Jasper, a sweet puppy who was abandoned in the middle of a cotton field. Thankfully, kind farm owners rescued him and brought him to a nearby rural Texas shelter. Despite his rough start and facing death row, Jasper remains loving and always happy. He has made many friends, both human and canine, and adores kids and belly rubs. FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
Naira is a sweet and loving girl. She is loyal and affectionate. However we have to rehome her because she really needs a fenced in yard. She has nipped at a delivery personal, any she nipped someone on their bike. Because of this our insurance will not cover us and we can’t afford a fence. This is heart breaking for us but is our best option. She knows basic commands, and is potty trained, no accidents in the house. Some things to consider: Fenced in yard a must When on a walk she can be reactive and needs a firm handler She likes her space when at rest, children need to be mindful of this, she has not bit any children but she will give a warning yelp of small children are not giving her space when she is at rest She is over all an affectionate and loving family dog

Story
Merlin is a wonderful dog & very loved in her foster home. She’s a Chow Chow, & her adopters should have some understanding of her breed. Although she warms up quickly, she tends to be cautious in the beginning. She’s skittish around children and new people. She loves car rides and would be happy to join her person on any adventures. Families with older children will be considered on a case by case basis. Children will need to be able to control their behavior around her. She’s done well with the dogs she’s met, but after raising her puppies she might also love to be the only pet getting all of the attention. She loves to go on walks, usually keeping a loose leash & she doesn’t bark when passing other people or dogs. She will need a strong handler for when she sees small animals and pulls on her leash. She’s not been around cats, but she’s very interested in the small critters like squirrels & bunnies that she’s seen outside & might want to chase a cat. She’s calm & relaxed at home, but also is up for a little playtime. She’s mostly potty trained & does okay in her crate, but also has been trusted to not get into trouble when given free roam. Merlin has bilateral medially luxating patellas- grade 3 and 4. Although this doesn’t appear to have an affect on her quality of life now, she could need surgical intervention in the future. Applicants are encouraged to consult their veterinarian to learn more about what the long term care could entail before applying. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, apply to meet Merlin!DATCP#483538

Story
Hi, I'm Linc!! I ended up in TX animal control as a stray when I was just a young guy, but no one ever claimed me, and I've been waiting over a year to find my place in the world. I'm a gorgeous boy who is about 2 years old and weighs about 50 lbs.I'm happy to be in a foster home, but I'm still adjusting to being seen by strangers. It takes me a bit to trust new people or large gatherings, but I never growl or show aggression, I just avoid or ignore. Once I know I can trust you, I am super affectionate! I love getting pets, and will sit by your side just enjoying your attention. I've mostly house trained, crate trained, walk great on a leash, and am learning car rides mean trips to fun place!! I make dog friends easily, for a long time they were my only family! I share food, toys and treats easily with dogs and humans too. I haven't met any kids or cats yet since I just got here, so I'm not sure how I'd do with them. True to my breeds, I'm very smart, and learn quickly, though I do have a stubborn streak, so you better mean what you say! I love a couple of good walks a day, and am spending lots of time in my foster's fenced yard hunting and protecting us from all the furry and feathered things!! And jumping into the puppy pool on a hot day feels great. But when I've had my fun, I'm happy lounging in the sun or at your feet. Do you think you could give me a chance to show you the real me?!?DATCP#483538
