Story
Meet Freddy, a 3 1/2 -year-old male Husky mix.Freddy is an absolutely stunning boy who seems to know it as he prances as he walks. This boy is a joy to be around with his happy, outgoing personality. Freddy is very treat motivated and will “sit” on command. He is still working on the command “down” but in true Husky fashion he does it on his own when he really wants something but doesn’t always do it on command. Freddy has met multiple dogs in the play yard and has done well with them; he enjoys a good game of chase every now and then but otherwise will just enjoy sniffing around in companionable silence. We still require a meet and greet with other dogs in the home to make sure everyone get along and as with all animals there is an adjustment period where they learn each others boundaries and they shouldn’t be left alone together right away. Freddy has proven the kitties are too tempting for him to leave alone so he would do best in a home with no cats and probably no chickens. Freddy is a goober of a boy and if you are as taken by his looks as we are you should definitely come meet him in person. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Fiesta, a 1.5-year-old female Husky mix.Fiesta got her name because she is the life of the party! At around 40 pounds she is a great medium-sized dog. She loves attention and is ready to smile all the time. Fiesta loves playing with the dogs we have introduced her to, she enjoys being chased and jumping around. She would be fine as an only dog but would also enjoy a home with another playful dog to roughhouse with. Fiesta was adopted but sadly returned for not doing well with livestock and cats, this isn’t surprising for her breed mix and since we want her to succeed we don’t recommend her to go to a home with livestock or small animals. She laid down and posed during her pictures which made us smile, it’s pretty rare to find a dog that does that! Speaking of rare, this is a Husky that enjoys playing in water! We put a kiddie pool outside for her and she was all about that life. Fiesta loves treats and wants to please, with some training and structure there isn’t much this girl won’t be able to do! Fiesta recently went on a public dog walk and this is what they had to say about her! “Her name is accurate! She was ready to go!!! She would be perfect for an active person or family. She enjoyed jogging/sprinting, sniffing everything, and rolling in fresh grass (sending in another email). Once she got her energy out she was more responsive to commands, ignored other dogs, and did not chase after anything. She is very playful and fun.”If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. Story
Meet Roman, a 5 and a half -year-old male Husky mix.Roman was abandoned at our front gate, thankfully nothing bad happened to him since we are right next to a busy highway. We called him microchipped owners but they stated they had rehomed him and didn’t have contact info for the new owners. Roman is a very typical husky with a goober personality. He loves to go on walks and does a little jump when he gets excited to start going somewhere. He is all about the attention, toys and treats. He will happily do “sit” and “down” for treats and then look at you expectantly for a reward. Unlike other Huskies Roman enjoys getting into the kiddie pool during hot summers, he is a blast! We love Roman’s outgoing personality and know you will to. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Jasmine, a 4-year-old female Husky/Shepherd mix.Jasmine is a great girl! She is also known as Jazzy to some of our staff due to her happy, enthusiastic nature. She keeps a clean kennel at yhs and is good on her leash. Jasmine enjoys treats and good scratches. She has these great eyes that are so expressive and beautiful. When Jasmine gets excited she gets the zoomies and becomes vocal which is super fun and cute to watch. She has met two other dogs while with us and done well with both, she can be a bit over bearing at first but it doesn’t take long for her to calm down with the other dogs especially if they are going on a walk together. Come spend some time with her today. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Stevens, a four year old Siberian Husky mix.Stevens is a handsome boy who weighs in at 70 pounds. He goes a little cross eyed when he looks at stuff and that just adds to his charm. Stevens has gotten in trouble with livestock in the past which is how he came to us, so we recommend a home with no livestock and probably no cats just to be safe. This is extremely common with the breed and should not be held against him. Stevens walks well on leash and is a bit aloof to strangers at first but then will come in for some loves on his own time. He would probably prefer a home with no young kids right now but would do fine with some older kids. This independent guy will win you over if you give him a chance. Come take him for a walk today. Story
$50 Adoption fee! Why so low? Yakima County is spilling over with stray and dumped dogs. Our goal is to get dogs into the right homes ASAP so we can help other dogs in need. It's not about the money, it's about finding the right home for these pups! Bo was picked up off the street in Yakima. The finder had to keep Bo ‘hidden’ in his apartment because he wasn’t allowed to have a dog and the finder couldn’t find a place for him in a shelter or rescue. Bo was neutered and microchipped, but when the family was contacted, they said they didn’t want him anymore and to please find him a new home. Bo has been a great addition to the rescue. He gets along beautifully with dog of all ages and breeds. He is definitely a talker and a cuddle bug! This dog is located in Selah, WA. PetFinder allows multiple postings of the same animal as long as the postings are 100 miles apart from each other. This way we can reach far and wide to find the perfect home for this dog. If driving to Selah is difficult for you, we will do our best to find a rescue partner to meet you halfway.
