Story
Kai is a stunning, petite husky who has made incredible strides since arriving at Pasado's this past spring! Rescued from an environment where she had little human contact during the first few years of her life, Kai was understandably nervous around new people. However, since being with us, she has blossomed, and much of that progress can be credited to her best friend, Keno (see his profile above!). With his support, Kai has grown more confident and has started to truly embrace all the joys of life!Kai enjoys playing with other dogs and loves going for peaceful walks in the woods, where she can take in the sights and smells at her own pace. She’s a foodie at heart—tasty treats are definitely the way to her heart! Kai would thrive in a home with another dog to be her companion as she continues to grow and explore the world around her. With time, patience, and love, Kai is sure to become a loyal and affectionate member of a lucky family.

Story
Penelope is a sweet, gentle girl who has had a challenging start in life, but she’s slowly learning to trust and bloom in her foster home. She’s formed a strong bond with her foster mom, but she’s still a bit unsure around new people. Penelope is looking for a quiet, thoughtful home where she can continue to build her confidence and feel safe as she adjusts to her new life. This sensitive girl would thrive in a calm environment where she can take her time to settle in. She would likely do best in a home without children, as she is more comfortable in a peaceful and predictable setting. With patience, love, and understanding, Penelope has the potential to become an affectionate and loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet girl who just needs a little time to trust, Penelope may be the perfect fit for you.

Story
Meet Chinook! This fun-loving, spunky, and smart guy is ready to find his new family! At 6-years-old, this Husky mix is still full of puppy pep. He loves to run and play, and will make an excellent hiking, jogging, or adventure buddy. When he`s not showing off his athletic moves, he enjoys working on brain puzzles and learning new tricks. Chinook is looking to be the only pet in his new home so he doesn`t have to share his human`s attention with any other furry ones. He can be reactive to dogs on leash and will do best in a quieter area where he can go for walks and runs without having to pass too many other dogs. Chinook is looking for a home with just dog-experienced teens and adults, and no apartments, please. Chinook would absolutely love a securely fenced yard where he can safely get out his zoomies. If you`re ready to welcome home this special guy, make an adoption appointment to meet him today! #activelifestyle #playful #nodogs #nocats

Story
Look at this gorgeous guy! Toast is not only handsome on the outside, but on the inside too. This 1-year-old husky mix is a very nice guy who makes friends with everyone he meets. Toast is hoping his new family can give him plenty of daily exercise, playtime, and mental enrichment. And of course, treats - Toast loves his treats! We don`t know how Toast is with other dogs or cats, so any introductions to resident pets should be done slowly. Toast will likely do well with older kids who are comfortable around large, jumpy, and active dogs. If Toast seems like your match, make an adoption appointment to meet him today! #activelifestyle #playful

Story
Animal Profile: Watermelon is an estimated 1-year-old 70 lb neutered male Husky/German Shepherd who was taken into the high-kill Downey Animal Shelter in Los Angeles as a stray, and never claimed. The shelter assessed him to be friendly with people and other dogs, and comfortable with handling with no medical or behavior flags, however he was euth listed for space after a long stay over one month in the shelter. This resilient boy got a one-way ticket to Seattle with a foster offer and will be joining Dog Gone Seattle on July 28. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care.  Foster Update: 'Mel' needs a dog savvy/experienced adopter that has a genuine interest in getting to know him and his quirks, will give hime to to warm up and set a strong foundation of rules/boundaries as he acclimates.  The pay off with this dog is immense.    Mel has developed some behaviors through all the processing of different humans and handlers that occurs during shelter and rescue life.  As a result, he has become a bit reactive towards newcomers. Once bonded to you, he is very loyal and trainable but will not be an easy first dog owner dog.  He would do best with a single person until the person has learned to manage him, otherwise, in his intense bond he tends to get defensive over his space when he is leashed.   Mel has several dog play friends here and does well de escalating other dogs.  What he lacks in confidence with some people he makes up for when dealing with dogs.   As his foster and trainer, I am eager to find someone help him see the benefit in connection as well as the more casual greetings through ritualistic protocols that he can rely on.  He needs a human to show him that connectivity and reliability is possible because at this point he has come to the conclusion that humans are not trustworthy nor reliable and has put him on the defense, like many of the shelter dogs I see.  Mel is a young, super fun and brilliant dog.  He is affectionate towards his person and has a great off switch in the house. For a husky type dog he really enjoys being home and is relatively easy to fulfill.  Mel comes with free training support for life and is currently fostered by Double Down Dog Training.  Mel's trainer has assessed that the benefits of being Mel's person far outweigh any risks and with time and patience he will make THE BEST ride or die companion IF you have a little grit and an a genuine interest in helping a shelter 'underdog' get ahead.  I look forward to teaching you everything I know about Mel and seeing him in a home of his  own someday.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV, heartworm test if 6 months or older, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application< Animal History: Watermelon was picked up as a stray in southern California and taken to the high-kill Downey animal shelter where he was placed on the euthanasia list for space. With foster commitment he was tagged and will be transported to Seattle arriving 7/28/24. He will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area after evaluated in foster care.January 31, 2025, 2:27 pm
