Story
Riley is a high energy dog that is very protective and has been described as a bit of a diva in our local dog group. She is extremely affectionate and loves to have your undivided attention whenever she sees fit. Riley does great around most other dogs and loves to socialize at the dog park with her friends. We acquired Riley from some neighbors that had an unplanned litter and did not have the space to take care of them. Riley is two years old, housetrained, and with a confident owner has been very trainable if only a little strong willed.

We are fostering a great companion dog. Will travel in any type of vehicle very well. Can sit with you for the day or go hiking. Loves fetch and being outdoors. Absolutely loves to be at your side. Has a funny husky breed howl when she is happy to see you. Was removed from an elderly person who has Alzheimer's. We have fallen in love with her but she needs a permanent home. Loves to play and good with another dog or cat as well. We have both here. She is about 30 pounds. Takes baths easily and loves to be brushed. She is a very special dog and very easy to care for. Soft coat. The photos taken don't do her any justice.

***COURTESY POST***Lucky, a delightful friend bursting with charm and energy. Lucky is the epitome of sweetness, always ready to shower you with affection and tail wags. Lucky's love knows no bounds, making him the perfect friend after a long day. His active nature means he's up for any adventure, especially hikes where he can explore the great outdoors by your side. If you would like to meet Lucky, please complete an adoption inquiry at: https://www.orcaspets.org/dogrequest.html Requests will be shared with Lucky's owner. Disclaimer: The companion animal you are interested in is a courtesy post. Orcas APS often helps dogs and cats outside our organization to find new homes, and these are called "courtesy posts.” By courtesy posting pets from owners, we offer our website (and sometimes email assistance) as a resource to help their pet gain extra exposure. The pet’s bio comes directly from the owner, and we expect them to provide accurate information, to the best of their knowledge. Orcas APS in most cases has not met or evaluated these companion animals, so no information about a courtesy post dog or cat is guaranteed. We cannot accept responsibility for any injury or damages to any person or property caused by any courtesy post animals. Courtesy post pets are the sole responsibility of the owner and the new family. In addition, Orcas APS cannot take these pets in if the courtesy post adoption does not work out. Also, although we occasionally might ask you to email us (if you’re interested in adopting a courtesy post pet), it’s just so we can help the owner connect with applicants. The owner will be rehoming the pet directly to the new home, not from Orcas APS.

Story
Freckles is ready to talk, shop, ride and walk his way right into your heart. If you are looking for a striking dog with a presence that is both calm and undeniable, Freckles is worth getting to know. A favorite among volunteers who treat the dogs to days out and long car rides, he is such good enjoyable company we had to encourage a few people to consider taking a new dog out. We can’t blame him for giving the good kisses, being a good shopping partner, wanting to talk while you drive, and being friendly enough that strangers are welcome to say hello. There just isn’t enough Freckles to go around. Take a look and see why he is so adored https://youtu.be/x4RRMMpwTMw Estimated to be right around 3.5 years old and weighing in at an impressive 82 lbs, we believe he may be some beautiful mix of Husky/Pittie/Australian Shepherd. Of course, given it is rescue we cannot offer any guarantees on age or breed but please share DNA results when you get them! We love knowing right along side you what your rescue special is. Freckles’ dream home is a Dixie Chicks Song- wide open spaces. This boy loves being outside, maybe he has some Great Pyrenees in him, that coat of his is impressive, but he loves the breeze, the smells, the sun… he is truly a dog that loves being outside. Farm dog life feels like the happy ending he would write into the story. But he isn’t all space and fresh air, he loves people and socializing comes easy for him. He will happily snuggle in on the couch at the end of the day but by day, he is all yours, whether you want to drive around running errands or do some winter-prep gardening. His companionship level is set to 10. Easy-going, low-maintenance but always, undeniably, there for you. Plus, he is great with kids! Whether you have your own, grandbabys or neighborhood visitors- Freckles will awe them with his size and soft, patient approach. Do you know the biggest reason we think he has some Husky in his family tree? He loves to talk about it! So no apartments for him unless you really want to get to know your neighbors. Car rides with the windows down is his version of heaven and even if I didn’t tell you, he would. It’s cute in the way watching undeniable joy is hard to be mad about. As much as Freckles loves to be out an about, he is a big boy so handling a big dog needs to be familiar if you plan on taking him out and about often. Truthfully, he doesn’t need it but he corrects easily and is treat motivated which primes him perfectly for teaching and training as you see fit for your lifestyle. Also, brace yourself for his “love-lean!” This is when he is ready for a love sesh in the form of pets- here he comes- first step is he is going to lean his love-seeking self right into you. Second step is the eyes that tell you- “it is time and I am ready!” It feels good because there is no denying the love. So if you want to head into the cold weather equipped with the best heated blanket available, Freckles is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind gentleman. He is ready to be a steady-forever-shotgun-rider and the best yes-man you’ve ever known. Adopt Freckles, as much as our volunteers and staff will miss him, we will be happy to see him join you and your beautiful life.  Apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/65f08d5278df96ffb0076209 Questions? Email kristin@threelittlepittiesrescue.org We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $400 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
