If you love camping, hiking, lake days and park hangs, you’re already living the Loki lifestyle! Loki is a gorgeous Husky mix, estimated to be 3 years old and currently weighing in around 61 pounds. He is of course a rescue, so these are only our best guesses. He’s got stamina, and he’s a ton of fun, but he’s not your typical over-the-top high energy Husky, he’s more of a medium energy guy. Fall in love with Loki here: https://youtu.be/2xMf-AyvyG8?feature=shared Loki is an adventure dog to his core. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, and very tolerant. He’s amazing on leash and knows how to walk on a regular leash or with head collar/gentle leader. He’s awesome in the car and lays down in the back of his foster family’s SUV. With his foster family, he regularly walks three to five miles in a day and adores his outside time. They take him camping and swimming, and he enjoys every second of it. Loki is a really cool dog, just always up for anything and ready to have a good time. He’s exceptionally confident in everything he does, and ready for a lifetime of adventure with you. When we asked his foster mom about him, she described him as “everything everyone loves about Huskies.” She says he’s adventurous, loving, loyal and so happy go lucky. She says he’s incredibly smart and receptive to training. He knows “heel,” “sit,” and “slow,” and to the benefit of outdoor adventurists everywhere, he knows “wait.” She says this command will stop him in his tracks, reliably. This command is crucial for new hikes with tight corners, hill crests or new flora and fauna! While Loki can be vocal, his foster mom says it’s not your typical continual husky vocalizations, it’s never too much for her family or neighbors to handle! Loki is a canine socialite if we’ve ever seen one. This guy is a pro with every dog he meets, he can play hard or just coexist and does a great job knowing when the time is right for either. He regularly goes to dog parks with his foster family, and enjoys doggy daycare from time to time. When we met Loki, we had a chance to see him greet three new dogs, and he was perfect with everyone. An opinionated Husky boy named Daffy enjoyed zooming with him. Our confident female Kelpie mix was greeted politely by him, and they lightly played chase. He simply coexisted with our smaller Bully mix Willow. Loki is also fostered with a sometimes-playful female Shepherd mix, the two are the best of friends. We think a medium energy female like her would be a great doggy sibling match for him in a forever home. Loki is a superstar in so many ways. He shares toys and treats with other dogs with ease. He loves to play the first half of fetch- the chasing the ball bit- but he hasn’t mastered the “bringing it back,” portion quite yet. He’s used to the active lifestyle and does well in all public settings, from patio restaurants to wildflower fields on the side of the highway. If you’ve been daydreaming of an adventure filled life with your newly adopted pup- know that most will need lots of time to learn, but Loki is already ready to go. Loki has his backpack ready and his Nalgene filled, he’s ready to come home with you! We think he would be happiest somewhere where he can stretch his legs, in a house with lots of room to roam and keep busy. He’s an active guy, so an active family would be best for him. While we haven’t seen him with kids just yet, we suspect this guy will be a great family dog. At this time, we don’t recommend him for a home with kitties. This is Wrigley and I am so excited to introduce you to him! He is sweetness with people, has some impressive leash skills, and just happens to be a real cutie! My favorite thing about Wrigley is his amazing balance of playfulness and chill, the type I think every dog-lover looks for! Introduce him to a dog and it won't be long before they are off playing together, invite him inside and watch how quickly he settles in for a little nap. We all agree, Wrigley has the looks and personality of a good ol’ husky/shepherd mix, and despite his mature presence, we believe he is around 1-1.5 years old. Honestly my favorite age for so many reasons, mostly puppy days are in the past and an attentive, eager to please dog is who you have. Wrigley has a nice balance of energy and chill. He is fortunate and is being fostered in a loving home along with another dog who he loves bouncing around with. When Wrigley has been introduced to other dogs, he showed an all around friendly, playful approach. On one occasion he met a female version of himself, twinning moment, and it was an immediate connection. The best part was that their playstyles and energy were as alike as their looks. Wrigley is a dog that would love a playmate in the home, so dog owners looking to add one to the crew, Wrigley is ready! Wrigley is fostered in a home with a yard and we think he is best suited for something very similar in his forever home. A yard is great for playing and sunbathing but in Wrigley’s case it helps when his inner husky is showing. Again, we cant be sure but he does get a little “chatty” so apartments are not the best fit. You will love his expressions but apartment neighbors may not. Wrigley was calm and gentle around a 1 year old and handled him crawling around and all the noises with a calm patience. If you have kids of any age, Wrigley could fit right in! No matter how patient a dog is, it is important to supervises/guide dog+kid interactions, especially during the handsy toddler stage. When Wrigley was introduced to our house cat it was easy to see it may have been a first for him. He was unsure and very wary which led to him being uncomfortable and easily startled. Given this, a feline-free home would be best for him. Wrigley will thrive in a calm but active household—a family with a yard, another playful pup, and people who’ll give him some structure and love. He settles nicely inside when it’s time to wind down and is the kind of dog who will nap at your feet while you work or nearby, somewhere cozy, while you go about your day. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $825 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
