Story
To say that Hanna adores human attention would be an understatement. This fluffy pup immediately mellows out whenever she receives affection from anyone – be it strangers, children, or the elderly. But don't be fooled by her antics. The moment it's time to return to her kennel, she unleashes the husky's trademark howl, serenading the shelter with her rendition of the "shelter dog blues." Her vocal prowess echoes throughout the center, leaving no doubt about her desire for companionship. In 2020, Hanna found her home through OHAR, where she lived alongside another dog and children. However, due to unforeseen hardships, her family faced tough decisions and returned her to OHAR. This turn of events has left Hanna heartbroken, yet she remains resilient, determined to find her fairy tale ending once again. Could you be the one to offer Hanna the love and stability she so deserves?Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). You will then have a week with the pet to ensure they are the right fit for your home. Story
This cutesy high-spirited youngster is Louie, a 38 pound, approximately one year old mixed breed that is neutered. Louie was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 7/30. This charming and delightful boy has a joyful and spunky personality. He is fun-loving, and is a tail-wagging, playful boy. He will sit immediately upon command and consume as many treats as you’re willing to give! Louie walks nicely on a leash. He did his business in the yard. Unfortunately, as time goes on, Louie is having a hard time with being confined in his kennel. He jumps and leaps very high indicating how stressed out he is and doesn’t make a good impression on prospective adopters. However, in the yard he does not jump as he does in his kennel. He needs a person or family who has an active lifestyle and will help him burn off some of that energy. He absolutely wants to live inside with his people with a comfortable soft doggy bed or two strategically placed around the house and plenty of TLC. Maybe you can tell that he is one of my favorites due to his winsome personality. I know he would be a wonderful and devoted companion so I hope soon his perfect person or family will discover him and allow him to become a part of their lives.

Story
If those pale blue eyes don’t catch your attention, then her gentle mannerisms will! I was impressed with her as soon as I took her out of her kennel! Tasha is a two-year-old 55 pound Alaskan husky that came from Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/15 as a stray. At first, she just moseyed around the yard taking her time investigating. Then she came back and stayed close to me. She would look up at me with those beautiful eyes of hers as though imploring me to adopt her. At one point she was across the yard when I called her, and she came running to me. She doesn’t appear to know the sit command but backs up in an attempt to do what I was asking of her. She does take treats gently. She is easy-going, gentle, sweet, friendly, and very well mannered. She walks very well on a leash. She went nose to nose with dogs that were friendly with her and ignored those that were not. Huskies love to run and in order to do so they’re known to try to escape. She will need a tall secure fence. Also, she will require frequent brushings. As gentle as she is she would most likely do very well with children. She wants to be an inside dog so she can love on her new family.

Story
Iris is a six month old 36 pound Alaskan Husky that came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 11/25. She’s not quite sure of what to make of the Shelter environment. She will need TLC and a slow introduction for her to become comfortable with you. After I spent time with her she untucked her tail and she even wagged it. She’s a real sweetheart with a gentle, calm, sweet nature. She’s well behaved and doesn’t jump on you. When I sat down she came to me. She didn’t appear to know the sit command nor was she interested in my treats. She did her business in the yard. Because she is not comfortable at the shelter she was hesitant about walking on a leash. With coaxing and praise she responded. She does respond well to praise! She was not interested in meeting other dogs. If you know anything about huskies you know they like to run. They are known in the dog world as escape artists. Therefore Iris will need a tall secure fence. Also huskies need to be brushed frequently. Oh, and even though she would enjoy having a yard to stretch her legs in, she would rather be an inside dog where she can cuddle and spend time with her new family.
