She came into the world with advanced cataracts, leaving her with limited vision. Thanks to a successful eye surgery provided by SOAR Rescue, Newt now has partial sight, and she's eagerly experiencing the world in a whole new way. Though still visually impaired, this spirited girl is unstoppable! Newt is as affectionate as she is brave. She's crate-trained, gentle, and loves the company of both humans and other dogs, making her an ideal companion for a household with another pet to help guide her and keep her company. Newt's ongoing health needs mean she'll thrive with a family committed to proactive veterinary care, including regular check-ins with a veterinary ophthalmologist to maintain her vision and a strong, consistent relationship with a trusted vet to keep her health on track. Despite her unique challenges, Newt is full of curiosity, playfulness, and love. Meet the Fresh Water Eco-System Litter (also known as the Swamp Puppies!) These guys came to us from our wonderful vet partner Middle Tennessee Vet Center where mama was pulled from Robertson County Animal Control Shortly after giving birth. The shelter is no place for mamas and babies and when MTVC reached out for our help...we were able to jump in thanks to the Muttz Realty Whelping Room! Riverboat Rhonda and her 9 babies are looking for active homes. We think they are a mix of husky and shepherd and estimate they will be around 50-60 lbs. The Fresh Water Ecosystem Litter has an adoption fee of $325 each. They are up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on prevention. They will also be scheduled to be spayed or neutered by the rescue. Please note that we are a completely volunteer run organization and may take 48 hours to respond. Please make sure to fully complete your application. If responses are not complete, you may not be contacted due to the volume of applications. Thank you for understanding. Meet Riverboat Rhonda, the devoted momma of our Freshwater Ecosystem litter, born in March 2024. This Husky mix has a gentle, loving nature, though she may be a bit nervous when meeting new people. With patience and understanding, Rhonda blossoms into a sweet and affectionate companion. She's slow to trust, likely due to an uncertain past, but once she feels safe, her love and loyalty know no bounds, making the journey of earning her trust incredibly rewarding. Rhonda does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and will thrive in a home where she has a canine companion to help her feel secure. Her history with cats is unknown, so she hasn't been tested with them. Given her need for a calm environment, a home with older children who respect dogs would be best. As a Husky mix, she has a clever and curious nature, so a family with experience in managing the breed's tendency to be an escape artist is essential. Rhonda is comfortable in her crate, but she doesn't like to be left alone for long periods; known for her typical Husky mix traits-she loves to "talk" and will often express herself with her adorable vocalizations. Rhonda is looking for a loving, patient family who understands her need for time, companionship, and ongoing support. Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.

Spike is a "manly" kind of name, right?? I am a guy, so I must be "strong like bull" :) Actually I am kind of a goofball. Smart and silly, playful and happy- just grateful to be alive!! I was saved from a high high kill shelter in W Texas and have been here getting my heartworms treated and having friends and an actual life... but now my goal is to have an actual FAMILY too!! I am good with other dogs, although I am a dominant boy, so I need either to be an only dog or to have a submissive friend to hang with. I am also a husky and all that goes along with that breed applies, I am active, I need a husky knowledgeable family cause we are escape artists and shed A LOT!! Gunther is a super senior we pulled from MACC and are so happy we did! This guy is so spry for 15 and loves to do zoomies and is great with most other dogs! High energy ones can be a little much for this senior guy, but the more chill ones he is great with. He also seems good around cats, loves a good car ride, and loves a yard to mosey around in! We did learn at his vet appointment that Gunther is Heartworm positive but, because of his age, we won't be doing the conventional treatment as it would be too tough on him. So we will be killing off those boogers with his Heartworm prevention each month. His heart and lungs do sound good though! He also may have an autoimmune disease which we would also probably not treat due to his age because he is in otherwise great shape and eats well enough though he does have bad teeth. The vet did not recommend sedating Gunther unless it was an emergency. He also has some arthritis but still is very active and is learning how to be a dog which we love to see! We also learned he is not neutered but has one testicle on the outside that is very small and the other is inside but the vet doesn't believe it is negatively affecting him. Despite his age and the fact that we think Gunther was literally just left outside his entire life, he is extremely good natured and is doing so well! He can be a little resource guarding but we are learning what those high value things are and he can be pretty good at redirecting and trading which is great! We are also working on some pain management with him but we know he doesn't like his tail end or his head messed with and can give verbal warnings, etc when that happens, but seems great with pets on the torso and really is just happy in a yard or to chill in the sunshine!November 4, 2024, 1:26 pm
