Story
Ken Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Meet Ken, a resilient 2-year-old Husky who’s ready for a fresh start with a loving, experienced family. Ken’s early life was far from ideal—after escaping multiple times, his former family resorted to chaining him outside behind a business, afraid of what might happen next. Thankfully, rescue stepped in, giving Ken the second chance he deserves. Despite his rough beginning, Ken has a heart full of love for people and other dogs. Like many Huskies, he’s mouthy, talkative, intelligent, and stubborn—but he’s also eager to learn, especially when food is involved! Ken thrives on mental and physical stimulation and would do best with an active, Husky-experienced family that’s ready to continue his training and take him on exciting adventures. Ken needs stability, patience, and plenty of enrichment to show him what a wonderful life with a forever family can be. Are you ready to meet the challenge and welcome this spirited boy into your home? If so, Ken is waiting for you! If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. Story
Simba is an approximately one year old husky mix, ready to find his forever home! With one striking blue eye and a gentle demeanor, this handsome boy has a big heart! He’s a great mix of playful and snuggly—perfect for anyone looking for a loving, loyal companion.Simba is currently in a foster home where he’s been showing off his friendly personality. He lives with 7 other dogs ranging from 30lbs and up. He’s great with younger, playful dogs and has a lot of energy to burn. Though he can be a bit too much for older dogs at times, he’s learning boundaries and responds well when corrected. While he’s not a fan of the crate yet, Simba is housebroken and is doing well with his leash training. He is happy to stay home alone uncrated with his other doggie friends, but we think he would need some time to adjust as the only dog being left alone. He’s definitely smart and will thrive with continued training. This sweet boy loves being around people, especially kids! His foster family includes an 8-year-old girl, and Simba has been so gentle and loving with her. He’s also fantastic in the car—he recently laid in his young foster sister’s lap during a long drive.Simba loves to be wherever you are and will do his best to stick close. He'd love to be your shadow! If you’re looking for a fun, energetic, and loving companion, Simba might be your perfect match!Check out this boy in action:https://youtube.com/shorts/y8wUeP33NtM?si=xhMS6PqWHoERopZUName: SimbaBreed: Husky/Labrador RetrieverSex: MaleAge: 11 months (estimated)Weight: 72lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testing Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: 5+Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Lumen is an adorable, almost 1-year-old spayed female Husky mix who was found as a stray on the streets of Memphis when she was a baby. Lumen was adopted by a family who decided she wasn't a good match for them after she had a medical issue that has since been resolved - their loss. This girl is a lovebug with a side of chaos! Affectionate to a fault, she’s always ready for a snuggle, but don’t let that fool you—she’s got enough energy to power a small city. She adores other dogs, especially if they’re down for rough-and-tumble play that might resemble a WWE match more than a polite meet-and-greet. She lived with cats in her Tennessee foster home but has not lived with cats for a while now. She’s got a particular dietary need, so you'll need to add some enzymes to her food—because even a wild spirit like hers needs a bit of help digesting all that adventure. The enzymes are not expensive. When it comes to obedience, she’s mastered “sit” and “wait,” but when it’s time for a walk, well, let’s say leash training is still a work in progress—so consider this a “continuing education” opportunity for both of you!Oh, and did we mention she gets motion sickness? Yep, it's only the best road trip if you're cool with frequent pit stops. But with her sweet nature and boundless affection, you’ll forgive the occasional car ride drama!Name: LumenBreed: HuskySex: FemaleAge: 11 months  (estimated)Weight: 40.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  ConnecticutIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Story
Say hello to Hank Frank, a truly good boy who LOVES people and other dogs.Hank was seen by a vets teenage sons shivering and sitting by trash cans at an unoccupied home. They were concerned and decided to go back a few hours later to see if he was still there, and he was. Hank cameright up to them and was more than happy to go with them. Unfortunately, they could not bring him into their house since they owned a dog who is not very fond of others. So vet mom brought him to her clinic, where he was in boarding for a bit. He is now in a southern foster home.Hank Frank (his two rescuers could not agree on a name, so mom used both!) has been easy with consistent training, and catches on really quickly. House training is going very well. Hank plays great with his new female foster sibling.  She doesn't have the same stamina as him, but he backs off when she lets him know she is tired. He also loves to play fetch. He is more affection motivated than food motivated. He is doing very well being trained not to jump with excitementTherefore, Hank will need and just LOVE an active family and/or fenced in yard to play in! He adores kids, but was too interested in the clinic cats, so we feel a a no-cat household would be best.He rides well in a car, so would be a good travel companion. This boy enjoys romping outside, so he would love a large fenced yard.Hank Frank will make an exceptional pet for an active family.....perhaps yours?Name: Hank FrankBreed: Husky/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 1 year  (estimated)Weight: 48.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  MississippiIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England. Story
Meet Sunny – Our Blue-Eyed Beauty!Sunny is a sweet, soulful girl who came to us after the passing of her beloved owner. She spent her early years on a farm surrounded by other dogs, so she’s well-socialized and knows how to coexist peacefully with her canine companions. Now, she’s looking for a new family to call her own and share her loving, gentle nature.A true lady in the house, Sunny is polite and respectful with the people and dogs around her. She’s calm and composed, making her an easy and pleasant companion indoors. However, like many dogs, she’s happiest when she’s provided with toys or an outlet to channel her energy. A bit of chewing is her way of entertaining herself if she’s left without something to occupy her attention, so a good selection of toys is essential!Sunny is a medium-energy girl who enjoys the simple pleasures of life. She’s not overly demanding but loves her moments of attention and affection. She’s great with people of all ages—young, old, and everyone in between—and will happily offer her company to anyone who wants it.Sunny is great on a leash, walking with ease and enjoying her outings. She is also a good car co-pilot, ready to go wherever the road takes you.Sunny would do best in a fenced yard, as she enjoys a good romp and needs a secure space to play and explore.Recall: She’s still working on her recall, and tends to turn attempts to catch her into a fun game of "keep away." A secure area for off-leash play is a must.Sunny is a wonderful companion who is ready to bring joy to the right home. If you’re looking for a well-mannered, affectionate girl to share your life with, Sunny just might be the perfect fit!Could you be the lucky one to give this sweet soul her forever home?Name: SunnyBreed: Husky/PointerSex: FemaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 40.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    TennesseeIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England. Story
Hello, my name is Shasta. I am as bright and happy as a Shasta Daisy in the spring. I am very social (dogs and people). I have not been cat tested yet, but my foster family thinks I will also be cat social. I wandered up to this lovely lady's home. She has three dogs. All of which I liked very much. I love to hug, play, stay with my people, and talk when I want to share something. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. My foster mom thinks I was dumped because I did not do well on my car ride to my foster family's home. I came nervous. But my foster family thinks with patience and time, and I will see that car rides are just that—car rides.  I would adore hiking, camping, going to the beach, playing in the water, playing in the fallen leaves and snow trails, and making you laugh. But, most of all, I would adore being with you. Whoever had me trained me some, let's try to find out what I know. To begin the adoption process, please request an application from alittlelonger2home@gmail.com. Once you have received your application, please complete it in full, including the email addresses of your three references. Next is the refundable deposit of $200.
