Story
Meet Tile, a sweet and sometimes fiesty husky girl who is looking for a rescue partner to pull her to a safe foster home! Tile came into the shelter as a stray after she was hit by a car and spent a few days in the hospital. While Tile was a bit grumpy and barky at the hospital, we have seen her goofy personality come out at the shelter! See more in her behavior notes below. If your rescue can help, please email lifesaving@acctphilly.org. Video: Tile knows paw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toUE89dZw_o&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fnew.shelterluv.com%2F Behavior: Behavior Eval 4/2/26: Kennel Presentation: She was sitting at the other end of the kennel when I approached, and she sat there for a few seconds and then slowly came forward. I dropped a treat for her and she sniffed it, but didn’t eat it. Then I handed her a treat through the door and she took it gently and spit it on the ground gently. Leash Skills: I got her leashed very easily although she did try to dodge it at first - she walks slowly on leash. No pulling and very polite leash manners, although she was recently hit by a car. A few times she just laid down and started sniffing the ground when we were walking. Sociability: Brought her into the volunteer office and she warmed up to me a bit and solicited out some pets. Loose body language when she took pets. She ended up taking treats from me inside and every time I held a treat out she would give me paw! She seems to know sit and paw and is pretty treat motivated. After a few minutes in the volunteer office, she got more curious and was sticking her head into bins and getting up on the couch. Typical husky behavior here. Play: No interest in toys today Dog Interaction: None today Return to Kennel: Easily went back into her kennel for unleashing. Color Level: Overall, very easy for handling- I’m going to give her Blue just due to the behavior notes from the offsite hospital. If her behavior continues this way, she can be gold. Recommendations and considerations: can go down from blue if her behavior continues positively Per 4/2/26: Per Hospital Tile's behavior drastically improved. They think she may have vision impairment as she bumped into things on her way out. She knows commands and took treats gently from staff. They noted that she barked a lot when left alone so placed her into her own room area where she did better Medical Wavier 4/2/26: Waiver: General Medical Medical Waiver ACCT Philly has noted a medical condition(s) with this animal. The condition(s) may have been observed in a shelter setting or in a previous home. The shelter’s resources are limited and as such ability to diagnose conditions also limited. The condition may require ongoing care which may be costly and/or lengthy and ACCT cannot reimburse for any costs. Intake 3/30/26: 3/30 6pm removed 1 stray husky at porch steps, owner of house is caller stated shes never seen dog, neighbor said dog was hbc hour prior to apo pick up. Story
Lucky came to me last September as an emergency foster and has really settled in over the past six months. Before coming into my care, there was one reported bite incident in a previous foster home. From what I was told, it occurred in a high-stress environment with young children and limited space. Since then, in a stable home, he has shown no signs of aggression toward people or other dogs. Lucky has been living with my two dogs and is playful, social, and affectionate. He thrives with another dog and would do best in a home with a canine companion. He’s a high-energy dog who needs space to run and burn off energy, so a large yard is important. Based on his history, a home without very young children would be the best fit. Lucky is a friendly, fun-loving dog who just needs the right environment to thrive.

Meet Ghoat. He’s being fostered in east TN. Out of state welcome for additional fee. We transport to the Greta lakes and northeast areas east areas. We use rescue riders for all our pet transport needs. Ghost had a home but unfortunately his owner could not longer care for him. He’s a really sweet pup. He loves attention and will come rest his head on your lap for petting and ear scratches. He gets along with most all other dogs big and small young or old. He is very playful and has lots of energy. He seems to be a husky mix. He has the curled husky tail and the coat of a medium coated husky but he also looks like he could be mixed with another breed. He’s not very big and only around 45 lbs. he’s a year old so he should not get much bigger. He probably will top out around 50-55 lbs. he is crate trained and house trained and walks well on a leash. He is a just a little shy when meeting new people and it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. He is one smart and sweet pup! Apply petpath.org

Story
Asher is your future adventure buddy with movie-star looks and a goofy grin! At 3 years old and 60lbs, Asher is a stunning Siberian Husky with the energy and personality to match his striking appearance. Asher absolutely lives for the outdoors. Whether it’s running, playing, exploring, or just zooming around the yard, being outside is his happy place. He would thrive with an active family ready to include him in adventures and give him plenty of exercise and enrichment. Previous Husky experience is a big plus, as he’ll do best with someone who understands the needs of this intelligent and energetic breed — but it’s not required. He would do best in a home with no small animals, but he’s open to meeting dogs around his size or larger and kids over the age of 14.------------------------------If you are interested in adopting, please visit Women`s Animal Center to fill out an application in person. Story
Sir Charles is happy, loving and playful 1 to 2 yr old boy. He is mostly quiet, but will “talk” or get mouthy when he wants something to eat, play or go out. Sir Charles adores people, both big and small. He just wants to shower people with affection and be loved. When it comes to other dogs, Sir Charles is not a fan. No cats or small animals for Sir Charles. He would do best as the only pet in the home. Sir Charles is housebroken. He is crate trained and likes to lounge in his crate. When it comes to toys, Sir Charles is all in! Plush squeekie toys keep his entertained, he plays nicely with toys and doesn’t tear them up. He loves to play fetch outdoors and indoors. Sir Charles will retrieve as long as you are willing to toss a toy. Sir Charles enjoys going on walks and playtime in the yard. This active boy will benefit from a Husky savvy family as he needs continued training as he will pull on leash when he sees dogs and wildlife. Sir Charles has shown improvement with his leash training Before Sir Charles came into rescue, he was suspected of being hit by a car so it’s no surprise that he gets skittish with loud noises, trucks, loud cars etc. However, he is not bothered by fireworks or thunder when he is in the house. Charles is comical and will keep you laughing, he likes to try to climb trees to catch squirrels. This loving boy thinks he is a lap dog and enjoys a snuggle with his family. Sir Charles has so much to give and so much potential. With the right family, the best is yet to be! Sir Charles’ Back Story When found, this brave boy was suspected of being hit by a car. He managed to drag himself to safety before collapsing in someone’s yard. Animal Control brought Charles to a shelter where he was examined by the staff veterinarian, but his injuries were traumatic so he was transported to an emergency hospital where he could receive the critical care he needed. After diagnostic testing, Charles' prognosis was guarded He had multiple issues including pneumothorax (a large volume of air in his chest cavity), a degloving injury (severe separation of tissue separated from muscle) to his lower lip, broken teeth, several lacerations on his body and a small foreign body in his stomach (unrelated to his recent trauma) Immediately, he underwent a chest tap to remove the air from his chest, was put on pain medication and stabilized on a chest tube. While in the hospital, Charles’ sweet nature endeared him to the staff. Despite his condition, he tolerated all the procedures and exams with no issue. His love of people compelled him to try to give kisses even when his injured mouth was causing him pain! Within a few days this resilient boy made great strides towards recovery and was able to be discharged from the hospital. Thanks to a wonderful, experienced DVSHR foster family who offered to welcome Charles into their home, we were able to take Charles into rescue. Sir Charles underwent further surgery to remove the foreign body in his stomach. Surprisingly, the veterinarian found and removed a rock AND a piece of glass! Charles made a full recovery and is doing well. Interested in adopting? Visit our website today at www.siberianhuskyrescue.org and complete an adoption application. Mischief also loves to carry his food dish around, just in case you didn’t notice he finished his meal. Mischief is the sentinel of the group. At his first veterinary exam, a grade 1 heart murmur (the mildest) was detected. Heart murmurs in puppies can resolve themselves as the puppy gets older, which is the case with Mischief. At his five month old checkup the heart murmur could no longer be detected! Mischief is a spunky boy who likes to keep up with his brother and sister. He has been in a foster home with Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes! Story
Meet Baloo! This energetic five-year-old boy is curious and needs a home where he can cuddle and just be a husky! He can get into things. When bored, he will create his own fun (usually not human approved). Daily walks and training will help curtail this behavior. Baloo does well on leash, but can pull at times. He knows basic commands. He is treat-motivated, but watch out for tasty morsels left on the counter, they’re fair game to him! Baloo has separation anxiety and needs a secure crate (which the rescue will provide). He needs continued work getting comfortable in the crate when alone. Baloo sleeps in his crate or on the tile floor. Baloo is house trained and good with a 5ft fence. Baloo likes to play, but tends to play roughly. Unlike most Huskies, Baloo will retrieve toys! Although Baloo is loving with people, he is not good with sharing a home or his people with other canines. He seems to be good with other dogs outside. While on a walk he can stroll past other dogs with good manners. However, while inside he is not good with other dogs. So, being an only dog. would be the best fit for Baloo. Baloo will need an experienced dog savvy person. If allowed, Baloo can try to protect food and toys. A trainer has been working with Baloo and he has shown improvement. The trainer can remove items from Baloo without incident. DVSHR will continue to provide behavior modification under the guidance of a trainer. If you would like to foster Baloo or ‘Foster with Intent to Adopt’ or know someone who can help, please contact Pam O’Connor at 877-876-2644 ASAP. You can make a difference for Baloo! We need your help. Kennel License Number 4610

Story
** $149.95 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! ** ** NEW Video 4/8/26! ** Worf ACCT-A-245811 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Worf must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by Thursday, April 9th, 2026 at 10AM. Should Worf’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Worf is a striking 95 lb male dog with a big heart and a sweet, affectionate personality. While he enjoys human interaction, leaning into pets, offering a paw, and relaxing like a little lap dog, Worf also comes with some behavioral considerations that require an experienced home. Worf has shown progress with leash training and clicker work, but he can be reactive toward other dogs and may bark, pull, or escalate in high-stress situations. In one instance during a leashed hike, he became involved in a dog-on-dog altercation on a narrow trail, highlighting the importance of an experienced handler who can safely manage him and continue working on his socialization. Worf also displays excitement behaviors, including jumping and humping, which may be stress-related, and would do best in an adult-only home. Because Worf is still learning appropriate boundaries and responding to triggers, he is best suited for an experienced adopter or rescue partner who can provide structure, guidance, and consistent training. He is looking for a home where he can receive patient, knowledgeable care to help him safely navigate the world while showing off his gentle, loving nature! Videos: NEW Meet timestamped Worf: https://youtube.com/shorts/n_2SKBNXMng?si=1jzj0EhW1qooWWZK Worf likes pets: https://youtube.com/shorts/bIGR2XsNCJk?si=vtV7l2TXsWQmvBYl Rottie Lee and Worf Meet: https://youtu.be/MaE5HuPh5zY dog meet with Nova1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM4y8OE-3IE dog meet with Nova2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDA9NOYRLF0 Behavior Notes: Per foster 4/7/26: "While fostering Worf, I got to see how sweet and affectionate he is. At home, he is well mannered and eager to please. He will wait for food until directed, enjoys stuffed and enrichment toys, and is very content relaxing and acting like a little lap dog. On walks, he does pull on leash, but we made progress using clicker training. He is very food motivated and responsive. Although he improved with walking beside me, he can be reactive toward other dogs and may bark and pull strongly in those situations. Once removed from the trigger, he is able to calm down and reset. He does have a tendency to jump up when excited, so he may do best in a home without small children given his size. Overall, Worf is a gentle and handsome boy who would thrive in a structured and experienced home. With continued training and support for his leash skills and reactivity, he can be the perfect companion:)" Per volunteer (from walksheet) 4/6/26: good boy Per foster 4/5/26: While on a leashed hike, Worf was involved in a dog-on-dog altercation. On the trail, Worf became reactive when he spotted the other dog, barking and pulling. He was fully leashed and harnessed at the time. We initially had distance and were attempting to pass safely, but the situation escalated quickly in a narrow trail setting, and I lost control momentarily after tripping while he was pulling, at which point he made contact with the other dog. The other dog was evaluated by a veterinarian and did not require stitches and is currently stable. Contact lasted approximately 10–20 seconds. I do not believe the other dog retaliated. My friend and I were able to separate them by pulling Worf away. I checked Worf afterward and did not observe any injuries. In the home, Worf has been very sweet, responsive, and affectionate. He had also been making progress with leash training and was walking next to me with reduced pulling, though he continued to show reactivity when seeing other dogs. Per staff 4/1/26: Worfs foster reached out about some behavioral issues they are experiencing. He is showing some anxiety when the foster is about to leave the house. Jumping up and humping the foster. Also he is pulling on the walk. Below are the recommendations 1. Use a crate or baby gate in a room as to not give him full run of the house. 2. Pulling on walks: use a no pull harness to deter pulling, like a freedom harness. 3. The humping can be stress related and not just sexually related. Anyway, with time I’d expect to see it reduce. 4. Calming agents like anxitaine or zylkene can be natural ways to provide some relaxation, naturally. Per volunteer 3/28: I met him when another volunteer had him out for a dog meet. He had no issues with the multiple volunteers around him. He even came over to me, put his paws up on my shoulders and allowed and enjoyed all over pets. He seems like a good dog and he is so handsome. Per volunteer 3/26/26: Worf (ACCT-A-245811) came to the shelter after being found loose on a baseball field at a park, where a bystander helped safely secure him. While initially unsure and keeping his distance, Worf quickly showed he was willing to engage, sitting on cue and allowing himself to be leashed and brought in without issue. Since arriving, Worf has shown himself to be a gentle, social, and cooperative dog. Though he was a bit wary at first, he has consistently demonstrated friendly behavior with people—leaning in for affection, taking treats gently, and even offering a paw. He walks well on leash, is easy to handle, and has a soft, relaxed demeanor once comfortable. Overall, he presents as a large but kind-hearted dog who enjoys human interaction and is easy to work with. Per staff 3/26/26: Kennel Presentation: At the front of the kennel with soft eyes, ears to the side, loose body and mid tail wagging. Leash Skills: Easy to leash and came right out of the kennel without hesitation. Mildly pulls through the kennels, half way through the the kennel he did a shake off. Outside he would mark. Sociability: Leaned into handling with soft eyes, open relaxed mouth, ears to the side and mid tail. Did stand on his hind leg and put his paws on my shoulder (which he was taller then me haha). He is gentle for his size. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: met nova. appropriate greetings able to walk away on his own. Return to Kennel: Pulled hard on the way back in the kennel. Went right into kennel and removed leash with hand. Color Level: Exp Gold Per staff 3/26/26 (Regarding dog meet with Nova): Curious, appropriately sniffed and tolerant of being sniffed. At one point attempted to mount. Neutral body language. Per staff 3/24/26: Worf came into dog intake panting, head high and started sniffing and looking around. When given treats Worf was gentle would sit and give paw. Leaned in for pets. We used cream cheese on the door and were able to vaccinate and chip him no problem. Per staff 3/23/26: dog was warning barking, with a tail tucked when I entered the field. He kept running away then running back to the fence where a bystander was. I told him to sit and he sat down by the fence. I threw the bystander my leash and she was able to leash him through the fence. Got onto the truck with no issue. Leashed easily and walked well to kennel. Easily put in kennel. Removed one large RAL Akita mix from baseball field at park with help of bystander – Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. Keyoko is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She had been living a good life until her owner died and she - and her buddy Zeus - suddenly found themselves at the shelter with nowhere to go. One of our wonderful fosters has agreed to take both of them in until we can find their new forever homes. In addition, a kind supporter has sponsored part of her adoption fee to help her get settled soon. At 8yrs old, Keyoko is still playful and loves to cuddle with her people. She is looking for a safe and loving home. If you think that could be yours, click on the big black button marked "Ask About Me" and we will send you an application. This dog is being fostered in TN but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal-friendly transport on the road.
