He’s a two year old husky mix (he’ll be celebrating his 3rd birthday later this month!) who is house and crate trained, UTD on shots, is great with our son, and just a sweetheart! He weighs approximately 60 pounds, and loves to snuggle and give kisses. Rodney is working on basic commands, and has sit mastered already! Meet Rico, a suave and playful boy looking for his forever home! Rico is a petite lil guy weighing in at just around 30 lbs! Rico is a very excited and wiggly boy who is looking for someone to share his excitement with! Since getting to the shelter Rico has shown that he's a young trainable boy who has some puppy antics! He is on the lookout for a patient owner who can show him the ropes and give him cuddles for life. Sound like you? He is available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly! He is in a standalone kennel and was trying to barge out when I went to leash him. Super wiggly, excited boy! I brought him into the volunteer office and he greeted everyone with a very loose body. Seems very comfortable with new people. Seems very treat motivated, he tried to sniff out my treats from my pocket! Out in the play yard, got a little playfully mouthy with me but it was very gentle. Showed me sit at first and then didn’t want to do it anymore. Careful giving him treats- he took the treats gently but doesn’t seem to know how to take them, kind of got my fingers in his mouth every time. Such a sweetie! Outside he was super wiggly and high energy- a bit jumpy but really he just wants to love on you. He took pets all over. Got zoomies at one point and it was super cute! Likes squeaky toys and balls but doesn’t know how to fetch them back. Someone came to take him on a day trip so we got him dressed in a harness and bandana which he allowed with no issue. Per Staff 12/12/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: - Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Rico was in a crate due to space. He was wagging when the handler approached and stood at the front and was very patient for leashing. No issues exiting or returning. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the room Rico was full of energy and darted around the room playing and wanting to run! He said hi to all three of us and allowed all over handling. He was tolerant to all petting including checking his teeth, paws, and ears. He is very food motivated but can be quite snatchy so use an open palm! He showed knowledge of sit but lacks attention and gets distracted easily. Darlene is a sensitive girl who prefers a calm, patient approach, allowing gentle handling once she feels safe. While she’s currently uninterested in treats or play, Darlene’s husky spirit shines through in her quiet independence and cautious curiosity. Darlene would love to find a peaceful home where she can rebuild her confidence at her own pace. She’s looking for a kind, understanding person to show her the love and security she so deserves. In the room Darlene was wiggly with multiple handlers and was playful, bouncing around the room soliciting attention and playing. Allowed all over handling without issue and took treats very gently when offered Per staff 12/16: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Darlene was on her bed laying down and came to the front with a mid level wagging tail and neutral eyes when she saw me. I opened the kennel door slightly and let her sniff the leash but she yelped when she saw it and backed away. I called her a good girl and called her over while hiding the leash, giving her some pets and comfort. She dropped down submissively and pushed her head into me. I tried again to leash her but she yelped again and did a half attempted air snap. She was very nervous about the leash so we took our time and gave lots of pets. Once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the room, Darlene sniffed curiously around and then hid under the table near my feet. I moved the chair to see her better and she got scared and walked out. She allowed me to approach her slowly and when I went down she felt more comfortable. She allowed all handling with some tail and feet sensitivities. She moved away and looked back to see what i was doing but at other times would allow me to touch them so proceed with caution. She is a very quiet husky and prefers to be on her own, walking around and exploring. She declined treats and had no interest in play or running around. Though Pharaoh can be anxious in new environments—she stays friendly and seeks comfort from her friends, showing how much she craves love and reassurance. She enjoys all-over pets, takes treats gently, and finds moments of joy when engaging in play. Pharaoh may need a little extra patience as she takes time to adjust, but her affectionate nature and willingness to connect make her a wonderful pal for someone ready to help her feel at home. Shows interest in toys but didn’t fully play with them or fetch them. Very easy to handle and no issues returning to kennel 12/18/24 staff behavior evaluation: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Pharaoh was laying on her bed and hopped up with neutral eyes and low wags. Patient for leashing and exited without any issues. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: In the room Pharaoh was very stressed and was whining, howling, panting heavily and appeared very anxious. She was friendly in the room though and tried to stay near us and seek out comfort from us. She allowed all over handling without any issue and took treats gently but remained very anxious in the room. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS: No interest 12/18/24 staff noted: Dog is full of puppy silliness Very sweet dog Came right up to me and gave me kisses when removed from home.
