Story
Raine is a social pup who thrives on affection! She loves leaning in for pets and isn’t shy about climbing into laps for extra cuddles. Raine allows all-over handling with ease and enjoys being close to her people. Her playful side is evident during fun activities and while she can get a little jumpy and excited—she’s just so happy to be part of the action! Raine could use some guidance on her manners, but her eager-to-please personality will make her a great candidate for training! If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate pup who will always keep you smiling, Raine is ready to meet you! Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Raine at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her. Behavior notes: 01/27/2025 | Behavioral by acct_drodriguez BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Owned KENNEL PRESENTATION: Raine was lying down curled up on her bed. Came up with soft eyes, ears back and sniffed the leash with a wagging tail. Allowed for very easy leashing and exited without any problems. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING : In the room Raine was very social and would solicit often. She allowed all over handling and would lean in when petting her and solicit often. She allowed all over handling without issue and would jump up on our laps for pets. She could lack manners at times and be a bit jumpy and demanding for attention, but overall was easy to handle! PLAY: Engaged in play, can get jumpy! TOYS Released willingly ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Story
Queen Azure ACCT-A-211187 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Queen Azure must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST at 10AM. Should Queen Azure’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Queen Azure was found as a stray on January 12th and brought to the shelter in hopes of finding her owner. The finder described Queen Azure as friendly and mentioned that she walked well on leash. Queen Azure is shy at first, but warms up with time, a slow approach, and baby talk. She takes treats very gently and even gave staff some kisses on her second day at the shelter. Due to her fear, Queen Azure would do best in a home with children over the age of 13. She has done well meeting other dogs at the shelter. If you're interested in adopting or fostering her, please bring all members of your family, along with any resident dogs, for a meet. Due to her length of stay, Queen Azure is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter. Seems very sweet. No issues walking. Per volunteer 1/25: Good dog meet. Per staff 1/25: Got Queen Azure out for some activity time as she's been a bit grumpy in kennel since getting sick. I was told that she was growling and barking at some people, but was still able to be walked and taken out. When I approached she was not reactive to me, and came right up with neutral eyes and mid level wags. She was easy to leash and walked nicely to the eval room. In the room she sniffed around for a minute or two before coming right up and leaning her booty into me for scratches. She was very friendly and affectionate with me, leaning in and soliciting lots. She got a playful burst of energy and zoomed around play bowing and jumping. We got another dog meet for her and all she wanted to do was play! She LOVES to play with other dogs! I think she would love a home with another playful dog! When it was time to return to kennel she walked the whole way with a loose leash and climbed right in! She had no issues returning today! Per volunteer 1/23: Very calm, went willingly into kennel. Per staff 1/21: Queen Azure seemed stressed today. She was at the front of the kennel hard barking when people passed by. She hasn't been out in a few days, so it could be from not being able to get her energy out. Per staff 1/19: When I went to grab Queen Azure from the day trip foster on 1/16 I saw her cuddling with the day trips foster teen and it was super cute. She allowed full body pets and gave me no issues approaching them. Walking back to the foster office she was great I was able to take her harness and leash off with no issues. She laid on my feet for a while and rubbed her head on my legs as a form to solicit an attention. I was able to get my leash as a harness and walk her back to her kennel without her pancaking. She is a very good girl! Per staff 1/17: Medical and behavioral team were unable to perform PCR testing on 1/17 due to behavior. Starting dog on gabapentin and trazodone and will re-attempt PCR collection on 1/18. Dog to remain staff only pending PCR collection. Per Day Trip 1/16: We enjoyed our time with her. She was very alert and aware of her surroundings. She didn’t seem to really relax fully until we were back at the center dropping her off. We took her to the nearby cemetery on front and luzerne. I didn’t feel comfortable taking her to the park since she was already so on edge in the car. She did allow us to pet her but she seemed like she tolerated it more than actually enjoyed it lol. When we had her out on the leash walking her around, she definitely led us. She stopped when she wanted to, and if we tried to get her to keep moving, she would just lay down. A very stubborn girl. We did come across a patch of snow and she threw herself into it and rolled around and it was so adorable. When we brought her back to the center about an hour later, and we were waiting in the lobby for someone to come get her, she seemed to really open up to us and even snuggled next to my leg and nuzzled into my touch when I was rubbing behind her ear. I think maybe she was just overstimulated with all the sounds of the city. Her ears were up and her head was going left and right every time she heard a siren or any kind of noise. Overall, we really enjoyed our time with her. She is definitely the boss! I think it would take a while for her to warm up to someone, but I think once she does, she’s going to be super protective. She may not be a super cuddly dog, but you can tell she’s going to protect whoever ends up getting her. Thank you for the opportunity to meet her and we hope to be back very soon! Per staff 1/15: Shy, spent time snuggling w/ me. Per volunteer 1/14: QA is a super hesitant and scared gal but warms up with time and treats! When I first approached her kennel she backed up but came forward for hot dogs. She backed away every time the leash came out. I closed the divider to make the space smaller and dropped more treats, then was able to lasso her with a big loop. Nice on leash! Hesitant in the play yard at first and but sniffed around cautiously. Wasn’t interested in treats at first, but then took them after she got more comfortable. She takes them very gently out of my hand. After a few minutes came up to me and gently jumped up on my chest for some attention. After we left the play yard she gave some resistance to go back inside. Pancaked a few times walking through the kennels but then when we got back to her kennel, she went in with no issue. Per staff 1/14: Queen Azure came out or activity time today. Queen was at the front of her kennel with a mid level wagging tail. She came right out once secured and in the room opened right up. She was very affectionate and took some time to warm up to another handler she did not recognize but after some nice sniffs began soliciting for pets. She was super playful with everyone and played with a tennis ball, tossing it around and running back and forth. Per volunteer 1/14: Great outside, hard time going through kennels. Per staff 1/13: Queen Azure came out for activity time today! In kennel, Azure had a mid level wagging tail when she saw me and came forward to the front of the kennel. She remained unsure of the leash but allowed me to reach in and leash her overhead. in the room, she sat next to my side as I typed and allowed all over handling. With more pets and time she even took some treats from me and knew sit, and took the treats verryyyy gently. She allowed me to take her harness off as it was very tight and was a bit nervous but tolerant. After removing her harness she warmed up so much more and began running around the eval room. She jumped up in my lap and gave some sweet face kisses. 1/13 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Queen was on the backside of her kennel for cleaning. She began to huff, growl and had a tense body and tucked tail when the handler approached. She sniffed the leash and then began to back away and flattened her ears. She was very nervous and then began to tremble. The handler tried to lasso her with the leash but she was an expert at dodging. The handler tapped the kennel floor to coax her to the front and she slowly came forward and the handler was able to lasso her once close. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally, vigilant and nervous on leash HANDLING : In the room Queen was very timid and nervous at first. We held her on leash until we got to know her better. She sniffed around and then sat in front of her main handler. She allowed the handler to pet her head and back and remained neutral, sitting at her feet and would glance towards her occasionally with semi soft to neutral eyes. She allowed the other handler in the room to approach and pet her as well. She was timid, but warmed up slowly with time, a slow approach, and baby talk. She is just a timid girl who needs a slow approach! No interest in treats. PLAY: No interest TOYS: Perked up, but would not engage COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Blue MEDICAL: On 1/17, Queen Azure was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. She tested negative for pneumovirus and her medication is scheduled to end on 1/30. On 1/16, Queen Azure was spayed. During her intake exam on 1/12, Queen Azure appeared to be in good health overall. She was bright, alert, and responsive, but tense, and would not allow staff to look at her teeth. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Story
Hunter ACCT-A-211645 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Hunter must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, February 4th at 10 A.M. Should Hunter’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Hunter is a super sweet and affectionate four-year-old pup who was originally found as a stray on 1/19/25. Though he had a microchip, his owner chose to surrender him, as she had been actively trying to rehome him when he escaped from a family member’s care. Hunter is a friendly, people-focused dog who thrives on attention and affection. He enjoys leaning in for pets, soaking up love, and is always eager to connect with his humans. Volunteers and staff have described him as a gentle, playful companion with a beautiful rust-colored coat and a love for toys. Despite his loving nature, Hunter struggles with separation anxiety, which has led to some destructive behaviors, including chewing through a door in his previous home and even gnawing on the walls of his kennel. He is currently on anti-anxiety medication to help manage his stress. He is not particularly food-motivated, making enrichment a challenge, but he enjoys playing and interacting with people. Hunter is best suited for a home without cats, as he has shown a strong prey drive toward them. His previous owner also recommended a home without young children, suggesting kids 10 and older would be a better fit due to his jumping and energetic nature. Hunter loves being outside, enjoys digging, and is eager to explore. He pulls moderately on the leash but is generally easy to handle. He has been described as a true lovebug, impressing volunteers with his gentle demeanor and affectionate personality. Whether he’s tappy-toeing his way into a room full of volunteers or leaning in for pets, Hunter is a wonderful companion looking for a dedicated home that can help him manage his anxiety while giving him the love and attention he craves. Hunter's attention is a bit hard to keep as he want's to say hi to everyone, dog and human. He's a sweet guy who was easy to leash, barely pulled, and was tolerant to pets. He isn't the biggest fan of head pets but loves back scritches! Super sweet boy and very go with the flow. Day Trip notes from 1/29/25: He was wonderful. Great in car and on leash , slight pulling but he was excited to explore at the park. He was non reactive to other dogs we passed. He was cuddly and sweet to my 12 y/o daughters. Very sweet and after we walked he was def a bit tired and wanted to sit. I loved our time with Hunter . Per staff 1/24/25: This afternoon Hunter was seen chewing a hole through the wall of his kennel. Gave him a bunch of enrichment but he is not very food motivated, so not likely to help. I put in a trazadone check for him. 1/23/25 volunteer notes: This boy has the prettiest rust coat and makes for a fun companion. He's a curious guy who braved the tunnel to grab a stuffed toy. Once he had warmed up, his playful side came out and he was very bouncy & loved playing with the toys. Per staff after speaking with previous owner on 1/23/25: Good with kids 10+, likes to jump, loves being outside, loves to dig, has separation anxiety and will sometimes get destructive. Does not have a good temperament around cats - will stalk them like prey. Anxious and does not like loud noises. Bit through the door of his previous home Per staff 1/22/25: Brought Hunter into the office for a group of 8 volunteers and he was fabulous! Came in with tappy toes and solicited attention from each person, allowed all over petting, sat for treats, took treats gently, and laid on the ground for all over pets. He was an absolute lovebug and they were all so impressed with him. He was very calm and such a gentleman Per volunteer 1/22/25: Hunter is a friendly, people-focused pup who loves to connect with friends. This gentle guy enjoys leaning in for pets and soaking up affection, making him an easy pal to handle. Hunter knows “sit,” engages in play, and is always ready for quality time with his favorite humans. If you’re looking for a sweet and playful buddy who thrives on attention, Hunter is ready to be your loyal companion! Per staff 1/20/25: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Hunter was standing near the door with some mid level wags and neutral body language. He did stick his nose in the crack and was very focused on getting out of kennel when the handler opened to leash him. She was able to leash him ears to snout without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING : In the room Hunter was friendly with both of us and easy to handle! He was very handler oriented and would solicit often in the room and seek out attention. He allowed all over handling and would lean in when petting him. He wasn’t the biggest fan of his paws being touched, but would just pull them away, no further reaction. He was very gentle in the room and easy to handle. No interest in treats, showed knowledge of sit. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS Interest but no possession Per staff 1/19/25: dog appears very calm, allowing most strangers to interact with it, and has allowed apo to place in truck without muzzle. Medical Notes: 1/25/25: Assessment Per adoptions staff, dog becomes anxious when alone and calms down when someone comes around. Dog appears to have separation anxiety. Plan Tx: Trazodone 100mg BID for 7 days 1/21/25: Eyes - clear Ears - slight wax Nose -clear Mouth/Teeth/Gums - moist pink gums, very minimal staining Coat & Skin - clean, no fleas/flea dirt Urogenital - male, no testicles present but no tattoo seen Gait/Mobility - normal no lameness Attitude: BAR, nervous and flighty Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
