Story
Hi, I'm Caldwell! I'm a 1 year old Husky/Shepherd mix. I love to play with my friends and I love swimming in my pool when it's hot out! I have been at the shelter all of my life (I came here in August of 2023!). Because of that, I can be pretty shy at first when I'm meeting new people but once I get to know you, I am super sweet and loving and I will give you lots of cuddles and kisses! I love dogs of all sizes and I do really well with cats and children!

Story
Hi, I'm Dobby! I'm a 1 year old Husky mix! I've been at the shelter since January of 2024 and I would really like to go to a home. I've had a lot of dog friends since I've been but I can get a little overwhelmed with them and I just need some alone time when that happens. I do best with dogs who will play with me when I want to play but also leave me alone when I get overwhelmed and I seem to do better with female dogs. I seem to do well with cats as well! I love running around super fast and I love playing! I love swimming in my pool when it's hot out! I have a lot of energy so I'll need someone who can give me lots of exercise! I also love to cuddle with my head in your lap getting lots of love and pets. I would love to go to a home of my so I can be a free elf!

Story
I found him tied to a pole outside an apartment complex, His chip was from a rescue but the owner has passed away, I believe he was dumped. He is a very sweet boy and I think he would do wonderful with a family or even just one owner. He’s not too energetic but he is very playful and happy when I let him into the yard.

Story
Meet Alakai! This handsome guy has spent far too long in the shelter and is more than ready to find his furever family. When Alakai entered the shelter, he was very nervous and took some time to come around to the staff. But once he's warmed up to you, he's your best friend! Because of his nervous tendencies, Alakai can be a flight risk and will require a securely fenced yard. He has gained quite a bit of confidence since coming to the shelter, and has shown a love for the active adventure-dog lifestyle and is a big fan of hiking! Alakia would do best as the only dog in the home as we have witness some resource guarding while he is with other furry friends. Alakai needs a home with low traffic and no kids as he is fearful of strangers and takes time to warm up. If you are interested in meeting Alakai, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Flower is a husky mix that loves to cuddle. Shes a good girl that loves people but she is having a tough time with my other female dog. They have fought twice now and I think that she needs to go somewhere with either no other dogs or just males. She's always been fine with my other dogs. We are kind of unsure about her age but guess around 4 years old. She truly deserves the best but I can not provide that for her now.

Story
Have you ever wanted a Husky, but were put off by their size? Bandit is the girl for you! This lady is the whole Husky deal in a smaller package. She has most of the typical Husky quirks; she's talkative, active, and independent. Like many Huskies, Bandit is known to be an escape artist and unfortunately it has resulted in her being a repeat offender at the shelter. But we are confident with some better supervision and some positive reinforcement based training that this girl will thrive in a new home. Bandit appears to be potty trained and already knows some basic skills like "sit". Bandit does well with other dogs, and if you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet and greet before taking Bandit home. If you are interested in meeting with Bandit, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Story
Nova is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Husky who arrived at the HSOV on December 5, 2023 after being picked up on Ohio Avenue in Belpre Ohio by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. Nova was wearing a nice pink 'girlie' collar, but there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag on her collar ... And she was not microchipped. Nova has a white/cream medium-haired coat with subtle black shading, a magnificent long curled fluffy tail, and a classic Husky face with a slender muzzle and large erect ears. Nova's left eye is brown and her right eye is pale blue. This little sweetheart has a happy, outgoing personality and was full of playful mischief when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on December 6th. Nova was in good hands with Jared and Nova pranced around posed as though she was a wanna-be contestant in the Westminster 'Best of Show' competition. Nova weighs 47 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. We've learned that Nova is NOT good cats. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nova was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl. UPDATE: Nova went home with a foster family on February 7, 2024 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Nova was spayed on February 13, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Nova came back to the HSOV on July 23, 2024 and is available for adoption. Nova was adopted on July 27, 2024 but, unfortunately, Nova was returned on July 29, 2024 because she was exhibiting food aggression behavior. This beautiful girl is looking for an experienced handler who can help her overcome her behavior around food.

Story
Wade is a handsome 5-year old male Husky/German Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on July 31, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked him up on Eddy Ridge Road in the New Matamoras Ohio area. Wade was not wearing a collar, and he was no microchipped. Wade has a light brown-and-cream short smooth coat, a long bushy tail, and an adorable face with a cream-colored mark, dark brown eyes, a black button nose on his slender muzzle, and extra-large ears that he holds erect which he chooses to do so. This sweet guy has a fun-loving, outgoing personality and was in the height of his glory when HSOV Kennel Tech Hannah Mcclain accompanied him for outdoor photos later in the afternoon on the day he arrived. Wade was full of playful energy and was ready for fun-and-game with Hannah in spite of the hot, humid weather, and he always a happy 'smile' on his beautiful face. Wade does not appear to accept cats into his circle of friends. Wade weighs 57 lbs and is rather energetic on the other end of a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Wade will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Wade was neutered on September 3, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Wade went home with a foster family on October 27, 2024 who plans to adopt him if all goes well. Update: Wade was officially adopted by his foster family on November 9, 2024.
