Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners. Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog! She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times. She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds. She has been spayed. Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
Meet the shining star, Colby! With one blue eye and one brown, he looks like he’s auditioning for a role in a doggy spy movie- But don’t worry, this handsome devil isn’t all about the drama. He’s actually one of the more chill Huskies you’ll meet. (Yes, you read that right. A somewhat quiet Husky. It’s rare. Like finding a unicorn that doesn’t scream.) Colby has all the best parts of being a Husky—playful, energetic, outdoorsy vibes—without the non-stop monologue. He can chat when the mood strikes, but he’s more of a “strong silent type with zoomies” than a 24/7 howling machine. He’s sweet. He’s polite. He gives affection like it’s his job. And he LOVES people! Whether you're his hiking buddy, cuddle partner, or treat dispenser, he’s all in. As for other dogs? He’s into it if they match his vibe. He’s not looking for chaotic energy; he’s looking for that solid, “let’s chase each other and then nap” kind of friend. Although, he prefers to have no pocket pet friends... he sees them as the trail mix he'd snack on before a hike. Colby is ready to find his forever fam—preferably one that enjoys walks, snuggles, and occasionally admiring how ridiculously good-looking their dog is. So if you’ve been searching for a Husky without the constant karaoke soundtrack, Colby might just be your dreamboat. Apply now before Hollywood calls him back for that spy movie.

Story
Meet Jewels! Jewels is a stunning 2 year old female red husky/shepherd mix (best guess) who weighs 45 lbs. Jewels recently arrived from Tennesse and got to go to several pet store events. She has settled in well, even in the short time she has been with us! At her first event, she initially stayed by herself and checked out all the people and other dogs coming by. As the day advanced, she starting taking treats from the kids that visited and enjoyed her day. At her next event, she enjoyed getting groomed by her handler. She was incredibly calm (yes, a husky mix!) and would do well with another dog in the home. She got along great with the other dogs at the event. We think with continued socialization, this gal will be a wonderful family addition. She is a very quick learner. If you think Jewels could be the one for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
FOSTER OR ADOPT. ***please read entire bio***Introducing Storm, a gorgeous male timid husky/pomeranian mix who is about 8 months old. It's hard to say if there is any other breed without a DNA test.We don't know his full backstory but it wasn't a happy one. Our Storm arrived very very scared. If he could speak human we're sure he would have a tale to tell! Our boy is only about 25-30 lbs and is starting to approach trusted volunteers, especially if they have food. He really likes chicken but is indifferent to milkbones. He is very food motivated, so is very trainable if you are patient. He likes other dogs, hes curious and responds well to routine. He does well keeping his crate clean. We think Storm's progress would really skyrocket in a home environment, especially with another dog that could show him how to dog and the many benefits of being a pet. Storm will require a quiet home with humans who are patient and will work on establishing trust. He will be that dog you remember. Apply at www.caninecollective.org.
