Story
Malawi is an incredibly intelligent, athletic, and affectionate dog who brings joy with her funny personality. While she has the wonderful ability to entertain herself, she faces challenges with Complex Resource Guarding. This means that her guarding responses can be triggered by various situations rather than just one specific thing. For Malawi, these triggers might include contact with food, feelings of losing her freedom or control, and sometimes even toys. Because there are multiple factors that can affect her behavior, her future adopter will need to approach her with patience and understanding. Building trust with Malawi is key; once she feels secure with you, she will communicate more openly, which can help minimize any reactions. I truly believe that having in-home training would make a significant difference for Malawi, helping her settle into her new environment. Her ideal home would be a calm space without cats, children, or other dogs, allowing her to thrive and flourish. With the right love and support, she can become the wonderful companion she`s meant to be.

Story
Bolt is a classic Husky—energetic, sassy, dramatic, and full of charm! He’s outgoing, friendly, and loves the outdoors. Whether he’s chasing birds in the yard, playing in the snow, or just soaking in the cold weather, Bolt is happiest when he`s outside and active. He doesn’t love being left alone and might throw a little Husky-style tantrum if he’s feeling neglected. In true Husky fashion, he can also be an escape artist if left unsupervised—so secure fencing and supervision are a must!Bolt has lived with other dogs, cats, and children and has done well. He does best with dogs that share his high energy level, so a meet-and-greet is essential to ensure compatibility with any existing pets and children. He was housebroken and crate trained when he came to us, though he may need a quick refresher. During storms or when he`s feeling anxious, this tough guy turns into a snuggly lap dog—thunder is scary, after all!Bolt needs a home that can provide structure, consistent training, and ongoing mental and physical enrichment. He’s incredibly smart and affectionate, and with the right environment, he’ll be an amazing companion. If you would like to meet Bolt, please stop by SPCA Cincinnati to visit him and all our other adoptable pets.

Story
My grandma had the dog from the time I was 9 till about 16- 17. She had a few littler dogs with him. She keep him anymore so I took him in. When she had him he had multiple ear issues, she found out he needed surgery for it and by this time it would be a few grand and they didn’t know if he would make it through anesthesia. We have had him for at least 1-2 years. He is not good with other dogs he is food aggressive and at one point scared our other dog into not eating unless he knew he was in a safe space. He was potty trained until we moved and everything went to crap after that. We don’t have the time anymore to do what we need to do with him to get him re-potty trained with our work schedule, we can’t leave him outside because of our apartment and worrying about the strays hurting him, and can’t leave him alone with our other dog anymore. We don’t know how he will do with younger kids due to his ears and food aggression we have had him snap at us over food but never bit.
