Story
RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Story
Meet Alakai! This handsome guy has spent far too long in the shelter and is more than ready to find his furever family. When Alakai entered the shelter, he was very nervous and took some time to come around to the staff. But once he's warmed up to you, he's your best friend! Because of his nervous tendencies, Alakai can be a flight risk and will require a securely fenced yard. He has gained quite a bit of confidence since coming to the shelter, and has shown a love for the active adventure-dog lifestyle and is a big fan of hiking! Alakia would do best as the only dog in the home as we have witness some resource guarding while he is with other furry friends. Alakai needs a home with low traffic and no kids as he is fearful of strangers and takes time to warm up. If you are interested in meeting Alakai, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 48.25 Age: 2yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
Flower is a husky mix that loves to cuddle. Shes a good girl that loves people but she is having a tough time with my other female dog. They have fought twice now and I think that she needs to go somewhere with either no other dogs or just males. She's always been fine with my other dogs. We are kind of unsure about her age but guess around 4 years old. She truly deserves the best but I can not provide that for her now.

Story
What my friends at Little Victories say about me: Duncan is the sweetest, cuddliest guy we know! He is very affectionate once he gets to know you. He does need a little time and neutrality to feel comfortable meeting new people, but give him some space and he will come to you. Pictures barely do this cute face justice, and he loves to cuddle up next to a person he knows and trusts. Duncan is young, bouncy, and playful, as any pup should be. He plays like a young dog, but he loves the company of other dogs who also want to play. He is one of our best testers for other pups! Duncan walks very well on a leash. The best kind of home for Duncan: Duncan is young and adaptable, so with a family willing to put in the work, he will easily thrive. His nervousness can be greatly helped by investing in training and overall confidence building. He should meet any other dogs in the house before adoption and does not get along with cats. Duncan is not house trained, but he is crate trained. He should be supervised in a yard as his previous family said he could climb, but we have not seen this behavior.
