Story
Ziggy is a 5-year-4-month old Siberian Husky weighing 70 pounds. He came to the shelter due to his owner no longer being able to care for him. If you've never had a husky please do your homework before adopting one! Ziggy is friendly with everyone he meets. Treat motivated. Knows commands sit & shake. He loves to go on walks. His favorite toys here at the shelter are stuffed toys with squeakers. He absolutely loves to cuddle with people! Does well when being brushed. Rarely barks here at the shelter. Does well on car rides. Does not like visiting the veterinarian...at all! He doesn't know his own size so small children are not recommended. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
We got him from a shelter 4.5 years ago. When we ot him, they said he was 5 but not 100% sure of his age. My husband just accepted a job in Okinawa Japan and we cannot take him with us. We suspect that he was abused and has come a long way since then. He gets along well with another dog we have. He is sweet and loving and full of energy. He definitely resource guards, he will chew anything leather that is left laying around but doesn't really destroy anything else. He can be aggressive if you grab his collar (he does not do it to me but he does to others) He will growl and nip if startled such as someone quickly grabbing at him. He is definitely better in a family with older or no kids.

Story
Timber was transferred in from a local dog warden. He is VERY shy at first with people but does warm up very well. He loves other young dogs and follows their lead to show him how great people can be! He is okay with kids but would do better in a home with ages 10+! I think he could adjust to younger, but would be better suited for a less chaotic home at this point in life. He is very playful and does need to be with other dogs. He could run for hours with his foster dog friends! He will require a fenced in yard due to fear of leash. This is also something we are working on. He is crate trained and does very well in it. He’s not as vocal as your typical husky! He is a very loving guy once you put some time and patience into him. He stays right by your side and loves to be close to you! Give him a chance and you will be inseparable! Adoption Application: https://www.nickensfamilyrescue.com/adoptionapplication

Story
Meet Rocky. Saved from an overcrowded shelter in southern OH. A great dog. Rocky appears to maybe a Husky/Shepherd mix. He is about 2 years old and 50 lbs. Rocky appears to be dog friendly. We will get an idea soon on how he is with cats. He will need regular exercise and would be great as a jogging partner. Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines and is heart worm negative. He did test positive for Lyme but has no clinical signs. He is in doxycycline for a month as a precaution but no further treatment will be needed. His adoption fee is $180. If interested in Rocky, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com. February 26, 2025, 12:35 pm
