Story
Shades is everything people love about Huskies wrapped up in one fluffy, happy package. He is social, playful, full of personality, and always ready to be part of the action. Whether he is heading out on an adventure, meeting new people, or chatting back with his signature husky “talking,” Shades brings fun wherever he goes. This handsome boy has lived successfully with children and has experience around other dogs, including time spent with family friends while his owner traveled. He enjoys playtime, outings to stores and dog parks, and settles nicely after getting his energy out. Shades is the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes. He has a goofy, affectionate personality and loves being close to his people. He even helped his playgroup buddy, Bashful ,gain a little confidence here at the shelter. What a guy! Like many young Huskies, Shades will do best with an active family that can provide regular exercise, enrichment, and companionship. If you are looking for a social, adventurous dog with lots of love and personality to share, Shades may be your perfect match.

Story
Need a good work-from-home companion? Look no further than Pickles! This sweet, cuddly boy is independent and calm. He'll play, but only when he wants to. So you can get your work done (as long as he can see you) and then play when he's ready. Pickles is very much a puppy, but he's making progress in house-training, crate-training and leash-walking. (Thank goodness for AARF's foster parents who provide such great training in their homes!) Pickles is good at waiting to potty until he's outside or can use a puppy pad. He whines a bit at first in the crate but does settle down. He's not super excited about the lack of freedom on a leash, but he's learning. Pickles is a bit shy and is a little timid around other dogs and cats. Swing by the AARF House on Saturdays between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to meet our adoptable animals! We're located at 302 Thurston Street in Winston-Salem. Get the adoption process started and head to aarfws.org to fill out an application!

Story
Meet Bark — and trust us, the name fits him perfectly. He’s a loud little guy with a big personality, especially when he’s playing with other dogs or zooming around the yard. Underneath all that energy is an absolutely adorable puppy who keeps everyone entertained. Don’t let his enthusiastic jumping fool you, though — he’s not necessarily looking for cuddles. Bark’s favorite move is sneaking in to nibble on your ears before wiggling away to his next adventure.
