Story
Meet Bella — a 2.5‑year‑old, 42‑lb Husky mix with all the classic Husky charm wrapped into a smaller, stunning package!   Quick Facts: Name: Bella Breed: Husky Mix Age: 2.5 years old Weight: 42 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: Has only met kids 12 and older and has been great! Energy Level: Moderate Fence Required: Yes (secure fence, no gaps to escape through)   About Bella’s Breed: Our best guess is that Bella is a Husky mixed breed. Huskies are known for their striking looks, sharp intelligence, and bold, independent personalities. They’re energetic, playful, and social dogs who thrive on structure, leadership, and plenty of physical and mental stimulation. True to their working‑dog roots, they love having a job to do — whether that’s running, hiking, playing, or learning new skills.   An ideal home for a Husky is one with active people, a secure fenced yard, and someone who appreciates both their beauty and their strong‑willed nature. They do best with owners who can provide consistent guidance, clear boundaries, and lots of exercise. With the right leadership and lifestyle, Huskies become incredibly loyal, fun, and engaging companions who bring a ton of personality into the home.   What to Love about Bella: Bella is the definition of a true Husky personality: independent, cat‑like, affectionate on her terms, and perfectly content choosing a cozy spot in the same room to lounge while keeping an eye on her people. When she wants love, she’ll come right over for it — and when she’s done, she’ll gracefully retreat to her chosen corner.   Bella has a naturally dominant energy, so she’ll do best with a confident owner who can be her clear leader. She’s fun, energetic, and playful without being hyper, and she absolutely loves romping with another playful dog — as long as that dog isn’t also dominant. She’s not aggressive; she just likes to be the boss. She’s also smart, responsive to verbal cues, and well‑behaved in the home. She doesn’t chew things up, destroys nothing, and settles beautifully inside.   She’s potty trained, crate trained, and does well when crated while you’re out. She can resource guard, so she should be fed separately. Bella loves people and has been wonderful with older kids she’s met — she’d likely thrive with respectful, dog‑savvy children who enjoy playing with her. Because she has a prey drive and has chased squirrels, she’s not a good fit for a home with cats.   Bella enjoys zooming around the yard, playing fetch, and would love hikes or outdoor adventures! She needs a secure fenced yard to safely burn off her energy. Grooming-wise, she’s mostly easy — though she may give a little “snippy” protest sound if you brush a sensitive spot. A firm but gentle “no ma’am” works perfectly, and she settles right down.   Bella is gorgeous, spirited, loving, and full of personality! For someone who truly appreciates Huskies — their independence, their intelligence, their beauty, and their quirks — Bella will be an incredible companion and a loyal adventure buddy!   Bella’s Beautiful Highlights: 2.5‑year‑old, 42 lb Husky mix with a classic, independent Husky personality Affectionate on her terms; cat‑like and content lounging nearby Fun, energetic, and playful without being hyper Dominant energy — needs a confident owner who can be her clear leader Loves playing with other playful dogs but not a match for dominant dogs Potty trained, crate trained, and well‑behaved in the home Can resource guard; should be fed separately Great with people and older, respectful kids; not good with cats Needs a secure fenced yard for zoomies, playtime, and safe outdoor fun Smart, responsive to verbal cues, and an excellent match for true Husky lovers   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. Story
Meet Chewbacca — a 3‑month‑old, 15 lb Husky mix pup with the heart of a warrior and the fluff of a tiny Wookiee!   Quick Facts: Name: Chewbacca Breed: Husky Mix Age: 2 month old (12/29/2025 birthdate) Weight: 15 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: High Fence Required: Yes   About Chewbacca’s Breed: Our best guess is that Chewbacca is a Husky mixed breed. Huskies are energetic, intelligent, and social dogs known for their striking looks, endurance, and playful personalities. They were originally bred to work in packs and pull sleds over long distances, so they naturally have high energy levels and a strong instinct to run. Most Huskies are friendly with people and other dogs, and they thrive on interaction, activity, and mental stimulation. Their thick double coat sheds heavily, but it also makes them well‑suited for outdoor adventures.   An ideal home for a Husky is one with plenty of space, a secure fenced yard, and an active family who can provide daily exercise and engagement. They do best with people who enjoy outdoor activities like running, hiking, or long walks and who can offer consistent training and structure. Because they’re social and can become bored easily, Huskies flourish in homes where they aren’t left alone for long periods and where they’re included in family life. With the right environment and plenty of activity, a Husky becomes a joyful, loyal, and entertaining companion.   What to Love about Chewbacca: With his wild, adorable coat and expressive little face, he looks ready to charge into any adventure… even if that adventure is just chasing a leaf across the yard! Chewbacca and his siblings came to the rescue a bit undersocialized, but this brave boy is quickly learning how to play, explore, and enjoy life as a happy, confident puppy.   Chewbacca loves sprinting around outside, zooming through the yard like he’s on a mission to save the galaxy, and wrestling with his brothers in their indoor play area. He’s already crate trained and working hard on his potty training, showing off just how smart and eager he is to learn. As a young Husky mix with plenty of energy and curiosity, he’ll thrive with a family who’s home often and ready to guide him through all the exciting “firsts” of puppyhood! A fenced yard is important for his breed and size so he can safely zoom, explore, and unleash his inner adventurer.   He’s great with kids, loves every person he meets, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs — he even does well with cats. Chewbacca is working on his leash skills and will make an incredible adventure buddy once he’s old enough for bigger outings!   Chewbacca’s Charming Highlights: 3-month‑old, 15 lb Husky mix with fluffy “mini‑Wookiee” vibes Playful, bold, and always ready for an adventure Came to rescue undersocialized but is quickly learning how to play and explore Loves sprinting around the yard and wrestling with his siblings Crate trained and working hard on potty training Smart, curious, and eager to learn with a family who’s home often Needs a fenced yard to safely zoom and unleash his Husky energy Great with kids, friendly with all people, and wonderful with other dogs Even does well with cats Sweet, spirited, and ready to be the heroic sidekick to his forever family   Sweet, playful, and full of heroic potential, Chewbacca is ready to find a forever family who will love him, laugh with him, and join him on every epic journey ahead!   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Huskies are known for their loyalty, and Rebel embodies this deeply—once he chooses his person, his devotion runs strong. He’s not your high-energy, vocal husky stereotype; instead, he leans toward a peaceful, contented presence.Rebel’s Story & Personality:Rebel is a true gentleman who appreciates the quiet things in life. He’s the kind of dog who prefers to stand back and watch the world before deciding how (or if) he wants to join in. He’s low energy and prefers slow-paced walks, rolling in the grass, or simply soaking up the sun. He doesn’t go for rambunctious play or chaos—he’s more “stop and smell the flowers” than “fetch and frisbee.”He bonds best with men and may take longer to trust women, but with patience, he warms up. Rebel is good with other dogs after a proper introduction, especially those of similar size and calm temperament. He’s not a fan of small, frantic pups and does not tolerate overly excitable behavior.Rebel will guard his person by warning others (people and pets) with a low growl—this is his way of saying “I need space.” With gentle correction and strong leadership, he respects boundaries and responds well. He’s housebroken, does fine being left alone, and is crate trained, but rarely needs it.Rebel’s Ideal Home:A calm, quiet home without kidsA male adopter who can offer confident, gentle leadershipA household with no pets or one calm dog of similar sizeSomeone patient, steady, and respectful of his need for space and trust-buildingNo fence needed—Rebel is a great leash-walker and doesn’t wanderReady to Make Rebel Yours?Rebel is fully vetted, housebroken, and ready for a home that understands and appreciates his quiet strength. Story
Meet Novak - lovingly known as Parker - a 7-year-old, 46 lb. Husky mix with a heart as big as his comeback story! Quick Facts: Name: Novak (Parker) Breed: Husky/Shepherd Mix Age: 7 years old Weight: 46 lbs. House-Trained: Yes  Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes (older, gentle kids who can respect his boundaries) Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: Yes Special Note: Novak has been diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy and has had 3 seizures since being with the rescue. He is currently on Keppra twice a day to manage his condition. About Novak’s Breed: Our best guess is that Novak is a Husky/Shepherd mixed breed A Husky–Shepherd mix (a blend of the Siberian Husky and the German Shepherd) is typically an intelligent, loyal, and energetic companion. These dogs often combine the Husky’s playful spirit and endurance with the German Shepherd’s trainability and devotion to their people. They tend to be active, alert, and happiest when they have both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Their ideal home is with an experienced, confident owner who can provide consistent structure, positive reinforcement training, and plenty of daily activity. A fenced yard is often a great fit, as many enjoy running and exploring safely. Because they can form strong bonds with their families, they usually thrive in homes where they’re included in daily life and not left alone for long stretches. What to Love about Novak: Rescued as a stray in heartbreaking condition, he was severely underweight and suffering from significant hair loss. Fast forward to today, and this resilient boy has regained his healthy weight, grown back his beautiful coat, and blossomed into the sweet, soulful dog he was always meant to be. Novak has been diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy and is currently on Keppra twice a day. Despite this, he looks and acts like a happy, healthy pup and doesn't let his condition get him down! He continues to thrive physically and emotionally in foster care. Novak is totally potty trained and crate trained, and can be crated when you’re away. Given his past, he can sometimes guard his crate or resources—but he responds beautifully to calm redirection and treats. He’s smart and eager to learn! This handsome boy would love a patient, experienced family willing to move at his pace and continue building his confidence with positive reinforcement. Loud noises and quick movements can make him nervous, so a calm environment would help him feel secure. He has done well meeting a 9-year-old and would likely thrive with older, respectful children. Because of his resource guarding, a home without very young children would be best. Novak is fantastic with other dogs and enjoys spending time with the German Shepherd in his foster home. He also lives with four cats and does well with them—though he may occasionally try to chase one, he’s easily redirected. He can play a little rough with dog friends, but he is never aggressive with people. He loves walks (and is great on a leash!), car rides, and playing ball. A fenced-in yard would be a dream come true for him—a safe space to run, play, and burn off energy. While he has a playful and active side, he also enjoys lounging and relaxing at home. He strikes a wonderful balance between fun-loving and laid-back. Like most Huskies, Novak can be vocal, so apartment living wouldn’t be ideal. He would do best with someone who works from home or is home often—but he’ll also need gentle practice being alone to prevent separation anxiety. He may need to continue wearing his belly band long-term, but he tolerates it without fuss. At his core, Novak is incredibly sweet, funny, and smart. He has made amazing progress and is truly a joy to work with. More than anything, he wants to feel safe, loved, and part of a family of his own! Novak’s Noteworthy Highlights: • 7-year-old, 46 lb. Husky mix with a resilient comeback story • Fully recovered from being underweight with severe hair loss—now healthy and thriving • Smart, sweet, and eager to learn; responds well to positive reinforcement • Potty trained and crate trained and comfortable being crated when home alone • Wonderful with other dogs; enjoys playing (even if a little rough at times!) • Living successfully with 4 cats; easily redirected if he gets playful/chasey • Has done well with older, respectful children (met a 9-year-old and did great!) • Loves walks and is great on a leash • Enjoys car rides and adventures • Loves playing ball and would thrive with a fenced yard to run and play • Nice balance of playful energy and relaxed lounging at home • Affectionate and people-oriented—truly a sweetheart at his core • Looking for a patient, calm, experienced home where he won’t be alone too often If you have a calm home, a fenced yard, and a heart ready to give a deserving dog the TLC he’s been waiting for, Novak just might be your perfect match! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lola requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet her.   The link to our application is... https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC FOSTER COMMENTS:      Hi there! I'm Lola, your 60 pound bundle of husky happiness!  I am a grown-up girl who is 4 years old.  I'm a total sweetheart with a playful personality, and I've never met a human (old or young) thatI didn't instantly adore! I'm a gentle girl, always up for cuddles, head scratches, and maybe even a few stolen kisses. I am way too interested in cats.  So I need to find a home without kitties so I can be on my best behavior.   Outdoors, I'm a zoomie champion! I love to run and play, especially with my foster sibling. But don't worry, once we're back inside, I transform into the perfect houseguest. I'll curl up and chill out until it's time for another adventure.   I would love a fenced yard and a furry male playmate in my forever home. I am a social girl who will do best in a home with a male dog. But, if you are up to playing and walking with me, that will work too.  I need my exercise to get my wiggles out!  I'm already a leash-walking pro and can't wait to explore the neighborhood with my new family.  I'm a quiet around the house except when I get excited.  My foster mom is working with me, I am a quick learner,  to not bark when I'm excited!  I am not a fan of the crate but I don’t need a crate because I have great house manners.  My foster mom works from home so I sit quietly while she does her work.  I have been left along 4-6 hours with no problems.  I am potty trained with no accidents in the house,  crate-free, and I promise not to chew your shoes.  If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, I might just be the girl for you! â¤ï¸ EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.     Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  LOLA?
