Story
Ghost is the sweetest boy you'll ever meet and will surely steal your heart! Laid back and very well-mannered, he enjoys an active lifestyle, with daily long walks of several miles and plenty of time to sniff out the latest smells. While walking, Ghost doesn’t pull, but he is a big, strong boy, so he does need a strong and experienced handler. Although he is gentle and likes children, Ghost would be best living with adults. He may prefer to be an only dog, but he is drawn to gentle female dogs and may live happily with another dog. Huskies are an inquisitive and active breed who like to roam. So Ghost needs a large yard with at least a 6-foot privacy fence and an adopter who will enjoy spending time hanging with him and playing fun games to help keep him entertained and contained. Great in the car, he is always up for a fun ride. And a treat! He takes treats gently and will not jump up on you. Ghost's accomplishments are many. He is great on a leash, is house-trained and crate-trained, and will go into the crate upon request and sleeps overnight there without a sound. He has his silly, zoomy moments, like when chasing after his favorite toy he runs around the room. This gorgeous dog will surely make some lucky family a wonderful, loving companion! HEALTH Ghost is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. HISTORY Ghost was found after being lost for 3 months. His owners were located and contacted but did not want him back. Luckily, one of IAR's fosters intervened and brought him into the program! PHYSICAL Ghost is white with golden highlights on his ears, neck and down his back. His fluffy white tail often curls over his back.

I'm Lola, your 60 pound bundle of husky happiness!  I am a grown-up girl who is 4 years old.  I'm a total sweetheart with a playful personality, and I've never met a human (old or young) thatI didn't instantly adore! I'm a gentle girl, always up for cuddles, head scratches, and maybe even a few stolen kisses. I am way too interested in cats.  So I need to find a home without kitties so I can be on my best behavior.   Outdoors, I'm a zoomie champion! I love to run and play, especially with my foster sibling. But don't worry, once we're back inside, I transform into the perfect houseguest. I'll curl up and chill out until it's time for another adventure.   I would love a fenced yard and a furry male playmate in my forever home. I am a social girl who will do best in a home with a male dog. But, if you are up to playing and walking with me, that will work too.  I need my exercise to get my wiggles out!  I'm already a leash-walking pro and can't wait to explore the neighborhood with my new family.  I'm a quiet around the house except when I get excited.  My foster mom is working with me, I am a quick learner,  to not bark when I'm excited!  I am not a fan of the crate but I don’t need a crate because I have great house manners.  My foster mom works from home so I sit quietly while she does her work.  I have been left along 4-6 hours with no problems.  I am potty trained with no accidents in the house,  crate-free, and I promise not to chew your shoes.  If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, I might just be the girl for you! â¤ï¸ EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.     Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  LOLA? Story
Meet Bella — a 2.5‑year‑old, 42‑lb Husky mix with all the classic Husky charm wrapped into a smaller, stunning package!   Quick Facts: Name: Bella Breed: Husky Mix Age: 2.5 years old Weight: 42 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: No Good with Kids: Has only met kids 12 and older and has been great! Energy Level: Moderate Fence Required: Yes (secure fence, no gaps to escape through)   About Bella’s Breed: Our best guess is that Bella is a Husky mixed breed. Huskies are known for their striking looks, sharp intelligence, and bold, independent personalities. They’re energetic, playful, and social dogs who thrive on structure, leadership, and plenty of physical and mental stimulation. True to their working‑dog roots, they love having a job to do — whether that’s running, hiking, playing, or learning new skills.   An ideal home for a Husky is one with active people, a secure fenced yard, and someone who appreciates both their beauty and their strong‑willed nature. They do best with owners who can provide consistent guidance, clear boundaries, and lots of exercise. With the right leadership and lifestyle, Huskies become incredibly loyal, fun, and engaging companions who bring a ton of personality into the home.   What to Love about Bella: Bella is the definition of a true Husky personality: independent, cat‑like, affectionate on her terms, and perfectly content choosing a cozy spot in the same room to lounge while keeping an eye on her people. When she wants love, she’ll come right over for it — and when she’s done, she’ll gracefully retreat to her chosen corner.   Bella has a naturally dominant energy, so she’ll do best with a confident owner who can be her clear leader. She’s fun, energetic, and playful without being hyper, and she absolutely loves romping with another playful dog — as long as that dog isn’t also dominant. She’s not aggressive; she just likes to be the boss. She’s also smart, responsive to verbal cues, and well‑behaved in the home. She doesn’t chew things up, destroys nothing, and settles beautifully inside.   She’s potty trained, crate trained, and does well when crated while you’re out. She can resource guard, so she should be fed separately. Bella loves people and has been wonderful with older kids she’s met — she’d likely thrive with respectful, dog‑savvy children who enjoy playing with her. Because she has a prey drive and has chased squirrels, she’s not a good fit for a home with cats.   Bella enjoys zooming around the yard, playing fetch, and would love hikes or outdoor adventures! She needs a secure fenced yard to safely burn off her energy. Grooming-wise, she’s mostly easy — though she may give a little “snippy” protest sound if you brush a sensitive spot. A firm but gentle “no ma’am” works perfectly, and she settles right down.   Bella is gorgeous, spirited, loving, and full of personality! For someone who truly appreciates Huskies — their independence, their intelligence, their beauty, and their quirks — Bella will be an incredible companion and a loyal adventure buddy!   Bella’s Beautiful Highlights: 2.5‑year‑old, 42 lb Husky mix with a classic, independent Husky personality Affectionate on her terms; cat‑like and content lounging nearby Fun, energetic, and playful without being hyper Dominant energy — needs a confident owner who can be her clear leader Loves playing with other playful dogs but not a match for dominant dogs Potty trained, crate trained, and well‑behaved in the home Can resource guard; should be fed separately Great with people and older, respectful kids; not good with cats Needs a secure fenced yard for zoomies, playtime, and safe outdoor fun Smart, responsive to verbal cues, and an excellent match for true Husky lovers   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. Story
Ginger arrived with a terrible wound on her neck (caused by a collar that was too small) and she was so scared...she trembled and would not even walk, we had to carry her in most cases. With the help of amazing staff and volunteers, she has been improving and healing. She`s still scared and getting used to a leash, she may try to flee/run when scared. But she`s healing, she looks beautiful, and she`s even been going on some full walks outside with no issues. She just needs some kind humans to go slowly with her and give her time/space to adjust. If you think you have the right, calm spot for her where you can work with her to help her relax and blossom even more, email adoption@orangecountync.gov. We know she`ll really benefit from being in a loving home.If you`d like to help Ginger and other pets that enter the shelter with serious medical issues, please consider making a donation to the shelter. The Community Giving Fund is an easy way to donate online. Thank you!Foster notes on Ginger:`Ginger is so sweet! She is working through a lot of fear, but is gentle and kind to both humans and dogs. We went to Johnston Mill Preserve and got lots of good exercise out on the trails. Once we were moving in the woods, she was totally relaxed and really curious about our surroundings. She is working on trusting strangers, but loves the outdoors and would be an excellent adventure buddy!``Although Ginger is very fearful, she warmed up to us in a few hours. She loves the company of other dogs and was considerably less fearful after she met our dog. She is very uninterested in food; she didn`t take any of the treats that we offered her. She didn`t play with any of the toys. We took her home for a few hours. At first, she was avoiding us, but at the end of her stay, she was following us and accepting pets. She greeted our dog with enthusiasm, even though our dog wanted nothing to do with her. Ginger threw up in the car on the ride back, but was very well-behaved in the car. I love Ginger`s sweet and gentle temperament; despite her fear and distrust of humans, she is very kind and tolerant.``Ginger is such a sweetheart. She has been through so much in her short time on this Earth, but despite it all, you can tell she wants to love and be loved. It’s hard for Ginger to trust, but she would absolutely blossom in a home with love, time, and space. Ginger is potty trained and
