Story
Ziggy is an energetic, playful, snuggly 16 month old mix who came to us from a shelter as a young puppy. He is house trained and crate trained, very smart and work driven, and responsive to commands. He does very well when given boundaries and positive reinforcement. He is working with an experienced behaviorist on problem solving when he feels anxious or frustrated and has made a lot of progress. Ziggy would be thrilled to have experienced owners who can give him lots of love and attention!

Story
Ghost is the sweetest boy you'll ever meet and will surely steal your heart! Laid back and very well-mannered, he enjoys an active lifestyle, with daily long walks of several miles and plenty of time to sniff out the latest smells. While walking, Ghost doesn’t pull, but he is a big, strong boy, so he does need a strong and experienced handler. Although he is gentle and likes children, Ghost would be best living with adults. He may prefer to be an only dog, but he is drawn to gentle female dogs and may live happily with another dog. Huskies are an inquisitive and active breed who like to roam. So Ghost needs a large yard with at least a 6-foot privacy fence and an adopter who will enjoy spending time hanging with him and playing fun games to help keep him entertained and contained. Great in the car, he is always up for a fun ride. And a treat! He takes treats gently and will not jump up on you. Ghost's accomplishments are many. He is great on a leash, is house-trained and crate-trained, and will go into the crate upon request and sleeps overnight there without a sound. He has his silly, zoomy moments, like when chasing after his favorite toy he runs around the room. This gorgeous dog will surely make some lucky family a wonderful, loving companion! HEALTH Ghost is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. HISTORY Ghost was found after being lost for 3 months. His owners were located and contacted but did not want him back. Luckily, one of IAR's fosters intervened and brought him into the program! PHYSICAL Ghost is white with golden highlights on his ears, neck and down his back. His fluffy white tail often curls over his back.

Story
Meet Derpy 🐾🐯💙— a bright-eyed, big-hearted husky mix from the KPup Demon Hunters litter who is ready to bring all the fun to his forever home. This curious, playful guy has a toy obsession that is truly unmatched (squeaky ones are his love language), a soft spot for new people, and a cuddly side that’s just starting to bloom. He’s got the wiggly puppy energy you’d expect, but there’s a sweetness underneath it all — and an adopter who’s ready to play, explore, and let him come to them will absolutely bring out the best in him. 🐾 Derpy loves being right in the middle of the action, is endlessly curious about everything around him, and will absolutely charm you with that goofy smile of his. He loves meeting new people and new faces, and the more comfortable he gets, the more that cuddly side starts to come out — so get ready for a pup who goes from zoomy to snuggly real fast. He’s a lot of heart wrapped up in a whole lot of fun — the kind of dog who makes every day a little more lively. On the training front, his foster has some genuinely great news to share: crate training is going really well! Derpy settles in for the night, wakes once for a middle-of-the-night pee pad trip, then goes right back to his crate with barely a peep. He’s also learning his pee pads and will often go to them on his own — still a few accidents here and there, but he’s a puppy and he’s figuring it out. 🐾 Note: Derpy is still young and awaiting vaccines, so he’s not yet going outside to potty — he’ll continue on pee pads until he’s cleared for outdoor adventures. A note on husky mixes: Huskies are smart, spirited, and endlessly entertaining — but they do come with real needs. Expect regular exercise, lots of mental stimulation, and a dog who will absolutely let you know when he’s bored. Husky mixes can be mouthy, rowdy, and stubborn at times, especially as puppies. The right adopter for Derpy will embrace the chaos, stay consistent with training, and enjoy a dog with a genuinely big personality. If you are interested in Derpy, click Apply for Adoption! I'm Lola, your 60 pound bundle of husky happiness!  I am a grown-up girl who is 4 years old.  I'm a total sweetheart with a playful personality, and I've never met a human (old or young) thatI didn't instantly adore! I'm a gentle girl, always up for cuddles, head scratches, and maybe even a few stolen kisses. I am way too interested in cats.  So I need to find a home without kitties so I can be on my best behavior.   Outdoors, I'm a zoomie champion! I love to run and play, especially with my foster sibling. But don't worry, once we're back inside, I transform into the perfect houseguest. I'll curl up and chill out until it's time for another adventure.   I would love a fenced yard and a furry male playmate in my forever home. I am a social girl who will do best in a home with a male dog. But, if you are up to playing and walking with me, that will work too.  I need my exercise to get my wiggles out!  I'm already a leash-walking pro and can't wait to explore the neighborhood with my new family.  I'm a quiet around the house except when I get excited.  My foster mom is working with me, I am a quick learner,  to not bark when I'm excited!  I am not a fan of the crate but I don’t need a crate because I have great house manners.  My foster mom works from home so I sit quietly while she does her work.  I have been left along 4-6 hours with no problems.  I am potty trained with no accidents in the house,  crate-free, and I promise not to chew your shoes.  If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, I might just be the girl for you! â¤ï¸ EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.     Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING  LOLA? Story
Meet Luke Skywalker — a 3‑month‑old, 15 lb Husky mix who is every bit as handsome and charming as his name suggests!   Quick Facts: Name: Luke Skywalker Breed: Husky Mix Age: 2 month old (12/29/2025 birthdate) Weight: 15 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: High Fence Required: Yes   About Luke Skywalker’s Breed: Our best guess is that Luke is a Husky mixed breed. Huskies are energetic, intelligent, and social dogs known for their striking looks, endurance, and playful personalities. They were originally bred to work in packs and pull sleds over long distances, so they naturally have high energy levels and a strong instinct to run. Most Huskies are friendly with people and other dogs, and they thrive on interaction, activity, and mental stimulation. Their thick double coat sheds heavily, but it also makes them well‑suited for outdoor adventures.   An ideal home for a Husky is one with plenty of space, a secure fenced yard, and an active family who can provide daily exercise and engagement. They do best with people who enjoy outdoor activities like running, hiking, or long walks and who can offer consistent training and structure. Because they’re social and can become bored easily, Huskies flourish in homes where they aren’t left alone for long periods and where they’re included in family life. With the right environment and plenty of activity, a Husky becomes a joyful, loyal, and entertaining companion.   What to Love about Luke Skywalker: With his fluffy coat, bright eyes, and gentle spirit, Luke is a striking little pup with a softer, more reserved personality than his siblings. He and his littermates came to the rescue a bit undersocialized, and while his brothers and sister dove right into playtime, Luke has taken a quieter, more thoughtful approach as he learns how to enjoy toys, people, and the big world around him. He’s blossoming beautifully and gaining confidence every day.   Luke loves racing around outside and romping through the yard with his siblings once he’s warmed up, turning every play session into a sweet little adventure. He’s already crate trained and working hard on his potty training, showing just how smart and eager to learn he is. Because he’s a young Husky mix with plenty of energy, he’ll thrive with a family who’s home often, ready to guide him gently, teach him the ropes, and help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. A fenced yard is important for his breed and size so he can safely zoom, explore, and be the spirited Husky boy he naturally is.   He’s wonderful with kids of all ages, loves every person he meets once he feels safe, and gets along beautifully with other dogs — he even does well with cats. Luke is working on his leash skills and will be an incredible adventure buddy once he’s old enough for bigger outings.   Luke Skywalker’s Sublime Highlights: 3‑month‑old, 15 lb Husky mix with a fluffy coat and striking good looks A bit more shy and reserved than his siblings but gaining confidence every day Came to rescue undersocialized and is learning how to play and enjoy new experiences Loves romping outside and playing with his brothers Crate trained and working hard on potty training Smart, eager to learn, and would thrive with a family home often Needs a fenced yard to safely explore and enjoy his Husky energy Great with kids, friendly with all people once he warms up Wonderful with other dogs and even does well with cats   Sweet, sensitive, playful, and full of potential, Luke Skywalker is ready to find a forever family who will love him, encourage him, and enjoy every moment of watching him grow!   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
