Story
Tong is a handsome senior man. He is about 8 to 9 years old and looking for a home to retire in. Tong is good with some dogs - mostly he just likes someone to pal around with that isn't going to want to jump all over him. He needs an adult home with no kitties, either. Tong is a bit of a loner, but when he wants attention, he can be quite the cuddle bug. But it is always on his terms (is he a cat?) Tong is housebroken and enjoys walks.

Story
Darius is a handsome 2-3 year old Husky/St Bernard mix who's looking for a patient forever new home. Darius would do best in a home with a fenced in yard. Darius has never lived in a home or around kids, he is however good with most other dogs. Darius really needs a patient family that will give him time to learn all the good that the world and a family have to offer. Darius currently weighs about 60 pounds and still has weight to gain.

Story
Chinook the Shepsky came to us well traveled: He was born in the Westbank, Palestine, as a stray but luckily was taken into the Bethlehem Animal Shelter from which he was adopted to Quebec City, Canada but this adopters quickly learnt that he is not an ideal dog for a small basement apartment where he is left locked up all day. They wanted to surrender him to the local public shelter, but before they could do that, European friends of mine working in Animal Welfare and who have done rescue missions at the Bethlehem Shelter, connected with us and organized a volunteer transport to us on his 1st birthday. Chinook has the energy of a husky and the smarts of a shepherd so he is looking for an active home. He LOVES people and especially children; he an amazing dog, very very sweet and a total snuggle bug, he's a total leaner and has yet to meet a stranger, but he does need outlets for his energy. He'd make a wonderful running, hiking or trail riding partner. He's gotten used to chickens, ducks, goats and horses but still needs supervision around cats. He loves and gets along really well with dogs! He's actually never been an only dog and does show signs of anxiety when he's left inside the house by himself (which only ever happens by accident). Therefore he must be adopted to have a canine friend, and ideally he'd be adopted together with his BFF Enzo. He doesn't need a yard if his new home will provide him the much needed exercise; he also doesn't necessarily need a fence as long as the property is big enough for him to roam without getting in trouble. Here at the rescue ranch he keeps our property free of predators and has evicted all coyotes, while he roams our property he never runs away and always stays closeby. We walk him off leash and again he roams but doesn't run away and will always come right back.November 3, 2024, 12:23 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet KileySweet Kiley is about 4 months old (approx DOB 07/01/2024), best guess, no guarantee is that Kiley is a Huskey/Shepherd/maybe Aussie??? - we expect her to be a medium size adult dog.Her start in life has not been fair, dumped on a dirt road and taken in by wonderful humans. But the resident cats wanted nothing to do with her. So she lived in an outdoor kennel until SAL stepped up and took her in. She is very sweet in nature, always looking to please her humans. A submissive pack member and loves to romp in the yard with her foster siblings. Crates quietly at night and sleeps until you get up. Loves a toy and some free time in the sun to play with it. Upon rescue into SAL, Kiley fully expected to have to sleep outside again in her new situation :(  No more sweet girl.  She is adjusting well, the indoor life is just still a bit unfamiliar to her, but her foster family is showing her what being part of the family is all about.  She is responding to quiet, happy, gentle encouragement and making progress.  Kiley will need a family that is patient with her and will continue to build her confidence. We also think Kiley would do best with another balanced canine housemate.  We, therefore, are seeking a forever home for her in which there is a canine family member.Kiley is spayed, up-to-date on core vaccines, dewormed, current on flea preventative, and will be microchipped.**PETFINDER USERS check out more photos videos on her main page https://safeatlast.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=20994607 ____________________________________________________________________**If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.  Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended. YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Thank you for your interest.(Sorry, we will not respond to generic 'check the box,' 'Is s/he available,' 'Can you give me more information' inquiries.)
