Story
Vinton arrived at NCCR on 2/3/23, taken in from an animal cruelty case in Ohio where 80 dogs were found in various states of malnourishment and emaciation, and 40 others were found already deceased. He has been waiting patiently for his forever family to find him. He is a nearly 3 year old mixed breed weighing around 50 lbs. We guess his breed mix might include Hound, Retriever, and possibly Husky. He is timid around people, but warms up with some TLC (and a lot of treats!). Vinton gets along great with most other dogs and loves to play. He keeps his kennel clean but may need work on his house training and general obedience skills, and will require plenty of exercise and play time every day. Vinton needs to be adopted into a home with at least one other friendly dog. He likes to have that confident buddy to show him that all is ok! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application which you'll find on the website at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Jimmy Carter arrived at NCCR on 1/30/25, taken in when his owners failed to pick him up after he was found wandering stray locally. He is young adult male Husky, thought to be around 9-10 months old. We’re told that Jimmy is very friendly with people, and still full of loads of youthful energy. He is hoping to find a family that can give him the ongoing training he needs, and lots of daily exercise, playtime, and activity to keep him busy. Huskies are known to wander and can run many miles a day, so a fenced yard is recommended. More info to come as we get to know him better! If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found on the website at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. Story
We got Bella from pet store, she is 6 years old. She is very smart and active dog. She loves walks and car rides are her favorite. She loves being petted and requires your attention especially to play with her. She’s not very loud at all. Good with other dogs and kids. She requires grooming appointments regularly especially during shedding season. She’s a mastermind behind escaping 😂 however, she’s been trained with an invisible fence. There are some minor behavioral issues that could be resolved easily with proper training.

Story
Guyro has been with us for about 1 and a half years. He was adopted from a kill shelter in texas. He's a good boy, but due to parents separation, he will not be able to come with either of us. He's kennel trained, house trained to ring bells when he needs out, and can do basic sit stay. He is a high energy dog, so a yard is a big yes for him and walks. He is capable of entertaining himself in the house for the most part with chews and bones. He's a goofball and has a great personality but I'm not sure if he would be good with other dogs since we don't have any. He barks and pulls when he sees another, so probably best suited for a home with no dogs.
