Story
Hello my name is Stevie. I am almost 2 years old. I’m very sweet and loving and very active. I get along with big dogs but not small dogs. I need a home where my new family will be patient with me and give me time to get to know them and adjust. I can be timid and it can take me a little bit of time to come out of my shell. I love to be outdoors and I do tend to dig and I love toys and I sit for treats. My family loves me but they have little dogs and I am reacting to them, so they need me to go to a home with no small dogs.

Or, how about these Huskies in cities near Springfield, Missouri

These Huskies are available for adoption close to Springfield, Missouri.

Story
Hello, I'm Sahara. I'm a young Husky mix who was found as a stray. My history is a mystery but the person fostering me said I'm a good girl. I do great except for chickens and goats- so no livestock for me. I'm gentle and love attention.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2245022##

Story
We are a sweet litter of puppies named for the townships in our very own Polk County. We are lucky to be alive as our previous owner was ill and then his family planned to dump us on the side of the road on Valentine's Day :( Thank goodness we are safe now and getting our strength back after not eating for a few days. Egad! I'd love to come live with you. I'm hoping its not to late for love and you'll shower it on me!
