Meet Taka! This handsome one-year-old boy is as sweet as they come. Found as a stray, Taka has quickly shown his loving personality here at the shelter. He tests well with other dogs, shares toys politely, and absolutely adores being brushed. He’s a big snuggle bug who soaks up attention and affection from his people.Taka is comfortable having his feet handled, making grooming a breeze, and he has met visitors as young as 2 years old with ease. He does not get along with cats, but his gentle, playful, and affectionate nature shines through in everything he does.If you’re looking for a loving companion with a wonderful temperament, Taka is ready to meet you!

Story
Meet RalphHi, my name is Ralph! I’m a 2-year, 7-month-old Husky boy who has unfortunately found myself at the shelter twice now, through no fault of my own. I’m hoping the third time is the charm—and that my forever family finds me soon.I’m a very people-oriented dog and a total sweetheart. I love attention and will happily sit between your legs so I can lay down, cuddle, and enjoy a good shoulder massage. I’m a volunteer favorite for a reason!Dog Friendly:I do great with small dogs and previously lived with a 10-pound poodle with no issues. I’ve tested well with about six other dogs at the shelter and really enjoy having canine companions.Cats:My surrender form said good with cats. Training & Manners:• Good on leash• Knows sit, lay down, shake, and stay• Very treat motivated and takes treats gently• Smart as a whip!Favorites:• Toys—especially braided rope balls• Bones• Treats (of course!)Personality:I am a classic Husky—which means I love to talk, especially when I come out of my kennel. Don’t worry though, it’s all part of my charm! I just love to communicate and say hello.Ralph is a sweet, affectionate, dog-friendly Husky who is ready for a stable home where he won’t have to come back to the shelter again. He has so much love to give and is waiting patiently for his forever person. The shelter has to have an approved application in order to schedule a meet n greet. Please bring your other dogs to the meet n greet! Our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Please be patient with us as it can take 24-48 hours to process an application. We will email you, or call you with an approval or denial. Please be diligent when checking your email. Approved applications are kept on file for one year.

Story
Holly is a winter-wonderland-loving, snowball-catching, outdoorsy and adventure-seeking girl. If you're looking for a dog to accompany you on all of your experiences, you need Holly. Her energy level is awesome. Holly is happy to be chasing a squeaky toy or a tennis ball for as long as someone will throw it. And the weather sure doesn't deter this girl! The snowier it is, the happier she seems! And speaking of Holly being happy...when she is playing with a toy in the yard, sometimes she doesn't even need you to throw it for her! She will toss the toy up in the air and all over in the yard and chase it herself. She is hilarious! Holly is an independent but also interactive girl. What we mean is that she is totally capable of going exploring on her own but she is happy to be with people, too. The best of both worlds! We still need to observe her around dogs and cats and can let you when we do. Kiddos should be about 8ish and older for Holly to be most comfortable. She is about three years old and is spayed! Adopt Holly!

Story
Meet Zion! ALL he wants is L.O.V.E. He is literally the BIGGEST cuddlebug. He’s very much a people’s dog; he just wants to be with someone. This good boy is available to be fostered-to-adopted or adopted or fostered! He is very stressed out in the shelter environment, so we are open to different options as long as we can find a loving family and home to get him out of the shelter. Okay, now back to more about Zion... Zion is as smart as a whip! He is a very friendly boy and his eyes are a piercing blue! He WILL hide his food if he doesn’t like what you give him! He likes to bury it in his sheet or blanket. He absolutely cracks us up. Zion is your typical goofy, always-entertaining husky boy. And, true to his breed, he loves the snow! In fact, he likes to eat the snow! He's a hoot! Zion would love his adopter to be active like he is. Walkies, adventures, playing, enrichment, etc. would all be great things for Zion! He would be so happy if he could be the sole furbaby in his new home. Being doted on and spoiled are some of his favorite things all while being the center of everyone's attention. He is about two years old, is neutered, and weighs about 46-pounds. He's such a character! To adopt Zion, please come to the shelter to meet him. To foster Zion, please fill out the foster application here: https://michianapets.org/get-involved/foster.

Story
Oh, hey! I'm Champ! I am about five years old, am 57 pounds and I'm neutered. I constantly hear the humans here saying that I'm the coolest dude. I would love an adopter who loves the typical "husky dog" traits. For example...energetic, vocal, hilarious and always up for an adventure. You know, all the fun characteristics! In my previous home, I was a very good boy when it came to being house-trained. I also was crate-trained, too! I am a type of dog who really likes to be around his people. When I have the opportunity to snuggle, I am so happy. I also love playing fetch! Tennis balls and tug ropes are great toy options for me. I'm a super treat-motivated boy. Food is so tasty and I am eager to earn it! I know how to sit and am learning how to stay. I have lived with teenagers before and we had a nice time together. I think I'd be comfortable with kiddos about that age. As far as furry friends go, could you check back, please? I just arrived at MHS so I'm still getting an idea of what I like. Being with family is very important to me. I so hope I get to become a part of yours. Love, Champ.

Story
Trip is waiting for an owner who is willing to enjoy his energy and provide outlets to exercise both his mind and body. He is somewhat insecure so an owner that is confident would be ideal for this adolescent. Trip loves life, and everything around him. He simply just needs to learn some boundaries when it comes to personal space, and expressing his enthusiasm. Remember he is still a puppy. Trip has a tremendous amount of potential to be a wonderful member of someone's family. He is also quite handsome. Trip is a mix of husky/shepherd and will need a fence.DOB 1/15/23 52 PoundsI'm waiting for a home to call my own. email webmaster@petrefuge.com to learn more about me or fill out an application at https://www.petrefuge.com/adoptPet Refuge was formed in 1978 to help with cats and dogs in need of homes.
