Cassidy is a middle aged husky mix with low to medium energy. She is a sweet thing looking for a family to match her easy-going nature. She is not looking for a crazy-good time. Story
This beautiful boy is playful, outgoing and gets along with other dogs! He’s estimated to be about 2 years old! Online Dog Adoption Forms: https://wacshelter.com/adopt-a-dog/ Website for general questions: www.wacshelter.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wacshelter/ Email: wacvolunteers@gmail.com ** Be sure to check out our FACEBOOK page for day to day updates on our cats and dogs. Canine adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter Age appropriate vaccinations Deworming Flea prevention (if required) Heartworm screening/monthly prevention ** Volunteer dog walkers work with our dogs 7 days a week. What your adoption fee also includes is housetraining, leash walking and a good understanding of the kind of home each dog would thrive in. ADOPTION FEE: $ 150 "People who say money can't buy you happiness, have never paid an adoption fee...." IS THIS DOG SAFE WITH CATS? There is almost always an acclimation period when a new pet joins the household. We are happy to suggest a few ways to ease the transition. If one of our dogs is reported to have lived with cats previously, that will be indicated in the dog's description! IS THIS DOG GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS? No dog loves every other dog, just as humans do not like every other human they meet. A proper introduction (meet and greet) would be required as part of our application process. IS THIS DOG GOOD WITH CHILDREN? The better question is how the children have been taught to handle animals. A dog will respond negatively if he/she is not being handled properly. We can offer suggestions on how to teach children to interact with dogs and pay attention to body language. Young children should never be left unsupervised with new dogs. WHY IS THIS DOG IN THE SHELTER? The top reasons dogs are given up are: Moving without considering the needs of the pets Death of the owner with no plan in place for the pets Previous owner did not provide appropriate training Owner did not consider the lifespan of a dog Owner did not consider the cost of providing for a dog

Story
I adopted Miles from the shelter to help him through his heartworm treatment, thinking I could provide the care and attention he needed. While he's completed treatment and is doing great health-wise, I've realized he needs more than I can offer. Miles is an incredibly sweet, 3-year old high-energy boy who thrives on companionship. He absolutely loves being pet and cuddled and forms strong bonds with his people. Unfortunately, with my upcoming move to a new city for work, I'll be transitioning to apartment living and won't have the time or space he deserves. Miles would do best in a larger home with someone who's around more often and can keep up with his exercise needs and give him the attention he craves. He's good with other dogs – he tends to reciprocate calm energy to smaller, calmer dogs but he has a bit of a harder time with larger male dogs. His leash manners can be a work in progress which is totally trainable.

Story
Samson and Delilah were both found together and found by a woman who contacted our rescue for help. After taking them to the vet we learned they are each heartworm positive and have to undergo heartworm treatment. Samson is a sweetie and we are so happy we are able to help him and find him a new forever family. The rescue takes care of his veterinary treatment He will need a calm environment as he goes through his treatment. He is a wonderful loving dog, friendly and playful. Samson enjoys going on walks and enjoys getting a bath and eating regular meals which he never had. He was very thin when we first got him with his ribs showing and starving. Now he is happy and affectionate and enjoys getting a pat on the head or a belly rub. Even though his start was very rough, Samson is high spirted and since being in his foster home has learned not all people are bad. Please inquire about him. He is a gem! Samson weighs about 53 pounds and is approximately 3 years old.
