Story
**In a foster home and not at the kennel** This handsome guy is about 6 years old and 70 pounds. Deuce had a DNA test completed. The results are in and he is a Siberian Husky and Boxer mix. We thought for sure some Akita would be in there but what do we know? Deuce is a typical large breed dog- slow moving, calm, and laid back with short playful bursts of energy. He loves people and other dogs. Deuce knows sit, down, high five, shake, wait, stay, off and leave it. He is fully house trained and is currently in foster with an older male and younger female dog. His favorite things to do include time with his people, hikes, car rides and playtime, especially with other dogs. Deuce needs a knowledgeable and active adopter who can keep him challenged and set limits. Deuce initially displayed some food guarding at the kennel. This is not apparent in his foster care. However, his adopter will need to continue working with him so that it does not resurface. He needs an adult only home. Deuce would love a fenced in yard to safely explore. *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story
Hi, my name is Boomer! I am an outgoing, 11 month old puppy who loves making connections and getting belly rubs. I weigh 44 pounds which I think is the perfect size to be your best friend. I am a well-mannered fella who loves to be close to you and I love to play and explore. Even though I am a puppy, I seem to have a rather mellow personality. I am super friendly, but I am a bit mouthy, and I would benefit from some basic training as I am still a puppy. I love meeting new people and have plenty of energy to run around and play. If you are looking for a fun, friendly, and loyal companion, I'm the one for you! I am excited about finding my forever home and creating many more memories to come! I will need a home where children are at least 8 years old. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, I would love to meet them. I have a soft, friendly approach with other dogs with some vocalizing. I would benefit from positive dog to dog socialization to build my confidence. If you are interested in Boomer and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Nova is a 3 year old Siberian husky. At 1 years old her previous owners gave up on her and put her outside for personal reasons. She stayed outside for 2 years in a 12ft by 6ft cage with no proper attention just a daily dinner plate. In April of 2024 I moved out and decided to take responsibility over her, got her up to dates and spayed. I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy transition but i definitely understand how much dedication and patience she requires. She’s really well behaved when my partner and I are home & barks when she needs to go outside to use the bathroom. On the other hand we have been working hard on her listening skills when she’s outside. She loves to run after anything little, as any big dog does(cats, smaller dogs, squirrels etc). She also does suffers from severe separation anxiety.. We also rescued 2 cats before we got her and she’s not nice at all to them at all and has tried to bite them. (inbox me for more info about Nova, the site limits how much I can type)

Story
Meet Binx! Where are all our husky lovers?? Binx is a stunning one-year-old, 53-pound husky mix whose happy-go-lucky personality will have you wondering just how you lived without him! Like most huskies, Binx is an intrepid adventurer! Given his fun-loving willingness to explore, a tall, fenced-in yard is a requirement for our boy so he can enjoy the yard safely. Binx is a pup that will thrive with daily exercise and mental stimulation. He looks forward to his time with volunteers and quickly forms a connection with his people. He'll also benefit from continued training in his forever home. Some fabulous volunteers whisked Binx away for an epic day of fun! They hit up Metamora State Park and strolled three miles like pros. Binx was a superstar in the car and rocked his leash like a champ! This little bundle of energy is on the hunt for an active family to join him on his adventures! He met some fellow park-goers and was just a curious pup, checking them out! He took a sip from the river but decided to keep his paws dry-smart move! And of course, he savored every last drop of his delicious pup cup! Check out his adorable pictures from this outing! He is so handsome! Based on our evaluation, we feel Binx would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other dogs of a similar energy level. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Binx is the pup you've been searching for, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our bubbly boy!

We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time!
