He always has an ear to ear grin and will make even the gloomiest day bright! After sitting in the kennel for months without a break, our boy Zooks is now living it up in a fabulous foster home. They absolutely adore him and call him the "smiliest dog they've ever met!" House-trained & crate-trained, Zooks always aims to please! As if that weren't cool enough, Zooks loves other pups! He also lives with a cat who he doesn't have much interest in. Zooks will no doubt make and excellent pal for your family fur baby! Zooks is an affectionate fella that loves to be close! He a top-notch snuggler for sure! A fan of the outdoors, Zooks is ready for any adventure that comes his way! A big yard and lots of exercise is the key to keeping this bubbly boy active and engaged. As he's still a young man, he will benefit from continued training in his new home. Hanging out with Zooks is a guaranteed great time! While he enjoys the company of people and other animals, he's also content to toss a ball around to himself to keep himself entertained. He enjoys all sorts of treats and both food and toys can be taken away with no issue. Good on a leash and in the car, Zooks is the perfect pal to join you on all of your adventures. Based on evaluation, we feel Zooks will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the potential to live with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! Story
Meet Chopper! This gorgeous boy is 35 pounds of hunky husky! He's just over a year old and is eager for a fun-loving family to call his own! Not just a pretty face, Chopper is always up for adventure! He recently went on an outing with some of our volunteers and had the best time. He jumped right in the car and was raring to go. He did very well on his leash during his 4-mile hike. He enjoys the water and made sure to stop and give hugs to our volunteers along the way. Chopper was excited to meet both people and pups along the trail! Afterwards it was off to Tractor Supply where he made sure to say hello to everyone he met. He picked out a nice squeaky toy and some treats as well. He took his treats gently and finished off his day with some delicious ice cream before heading back to the kennel. He made sure to get as many belly rubs as he could while he was on his trip! Chopper loves his time outside with his fellow kennel mates and would love a yard of his own to enjoy in his new home. He will thrive with daily exercise and enrichment to keep him happily engaged. As he is still a young man, Chopper will benefit from continued training with his new family. Based on our evaluation, we feel Chopper would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other dogs animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think he's the pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our charming Chopper!

Story
**In a foster home and not at the kennel** This handsome guy is about 6 years old and 70 pounds. Deuce had a DNA test completed. The results are in and he is a Siberian Husky and Boxer mix. We thought for sure some Akita would be in there but what do we know? Deuce is a typical large breed dog- slow moving, calm, and laid back with short playful bursts of energy. He loves people and other dogs. Deuce knows sit, down, high five, shake, wait, stay, off and leave it. He is fully house trained and is currently in foster with an older male and younger female dog. His favorite things to do include time with his people, hikes, car rides and playtime, especially with other dogs. Deuce needs a knowledgeable and active adopter who can keep him challenged and set limits. Deuce initially displayed some food guarding at the kennel. This is not apparent in his foster care. However, his adopter will need to continue working with him so that it does not resurface. He needs an adult only home. Deuce would love a fenced in yard to safely explore. *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats*

Story
Fletcher is such a happy fellow! He is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 40 pounds. Fletcher is a sweet and silly boy who just loves his toys, it is absolutely hilarious to watch him play. His most favorite toy is the Kong Wubba, he will throw it in the air and entertain himself endlessly. One of his other favorite things is to be close to you, he is very connecting, affectionate and kissy, such a sweetie! Fletcher is also attentive to you and looking for direction. All he wants is a loving home where he can spend his golden years. Fletcher has so much love to give and is eager to find a family who can give him the attention and care he deserves. If you're looking for a furry friend who will be your constant companion, Fletcher is the perfect fit. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet and loving senior dog. He is sure to fill your life with joy and laughter. He will need a home where any children are at least 8 years old as he can be a little jumpy for attention. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Fletcher would love to meet them. He has a soft, loose and friendly approach with other dogs. If you are interested in Fletcher and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
