Story
Scooby is a smaller husky mix with a big amount of energy! He loves to jump--often on people--and is very enthusiastic with his affection. He wiggles and licks faces, and will even nibble at piercings when he has the chance. He doesn't have a huge interest in playing with toys, but he loves bouncing around with people!OTHER PETS: Scooby was relaxed and playful around other dogs, and has even been tolerant of other dogs being jumpy with him. He would likely get along with dogs that can match his energy and play style. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with high energy, intelligent dogs would be best suited to ensure Scooby has awesome adventures for the remainder of his life. [Some Experience]KIDS: Scooby is a very jumpy little guy who loves to get all up in people's faces. To ensure he gets along well with his younger human friends, he would do best with kids who are old enough to not be knocked over easily and can understand how to interact with him. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Scooby is a very energetic dog who will need constructive, healthy ways to channel his energy, including mental enrichment, to ensure that he does not create his own entertainment. Some activities Scooby might enjoy are: multiple daily walks, hiking, jogging, puzzle boxes, treat puzzles, or even training for dog sports. Due to his energy we think he would be a great candidate for hiking or agility specifically! [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Scooby bond with his new owner as well as help him learn important cues and skills. Scooby is very social and enjoys positive human interactions, and will need patience and support as he learns new tricks and skills. [Moderate] GROOMING: Regular brushing will help keep Scooby's coat clean and matt-free; huskies blow their coats twice a year and many owners choose to have a professional groomer help with the extra shedding. Story
OTHER PETS: Manuka is not very interested in other dogs; she meets them appropriately and is easily redirected back to other activities, but is dog-selective and be pushy and rude with some dogs. Manuka is a dog who would be best served living as an only pet with the opportunity to ignore other dogs as she sees fit while engaging in public activities with her owners. [Should Be Only Pet]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Manuka is friendly girl who seems as if she really can understand humans. She is also a VERY talented escape artist!!! Someone who has experience safely housing a dog who can and will attempt to escape when left alone is the person that Manuka is waiting for. [Very Experienced]KIDS: Manuka is a very sweet and mostly gentle girl, she would be a good fit for some smaller humans and would likely enjoy engaging in outdoor athletic activites with them. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Planning and executing escapes takes energy and intelligence, ensuring Manuka is using her energy throughout the day will mean that she has less available to dedicate to escaping, including regular mental enrichment. Manuka enjoys engaging with humans so learning new activities / tricks with positive reinforcement is a great way to exercise both her muscles and her mind. Multiple daily walks, supervised outdoor playtime, going on adventures with her humans, new and different experiences, mental enrichment - all things will help keep Manuka fulfilled! [Olympic Athlete] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Manuka bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important cues and skills. Manuka is mischievious and curious, (similar to how a growing teen would) but thrives on positive human interaction. Patience and positive reinforcement training will help meet her needs and get her through her adolescent phase. [Moderate]GROOMING: Regular brushing will keep Manuka's coat clean and matt free. Huskies shed year round and blow their coats bi-annualy; some owners choose to have a professional groom at those times to help with the excessive fur. Story
Meet Marshmellow, a lively and playful mixed breed dog who exudes excitement wherever he goes. Marshmellow is a big fan of outdoor adventures and activities. He gets so happy when someone takes him running that he cant resist stopping to roll on his back, celebrating the moment with pure, unfiltered joy! He recently got back to the shelter after spending time in a foster home where we were able to learn a lot about him! Most excitingly, after some activity, he enjoys curling up with his person - which often involve him snuggling on his persons lap! We also learned he is housebroken, he worked on building skills for crate training but was able to settle himself well when left alone, and loved meeting people of all ages. Marshmellow is a smart pup who in his foster home and at the shelter, enjoys training while out on walks and is hoping to find an adopter willing to continue working with him. He is looking for an adopter who understands dog body language, is excited to build a relationship with him at his own pace, and appreciates his goofy antics. With the right guidance and support, hell flourish and be a great companion. If you`re ready for a fun-loving, loyal, and intelligent friend who will keep you active and entertained, Marshmellow is the perfect match!

Story
We got Ozzie at the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain. He is 6 months old (born on 4/27/24), 43 lbs, with a great personality! When he meets people he'll wag his tail vigorously, go right up to them, sometimes he'll lick them or turn on his back so he can get his belly rubbed. We have no concerns about him around other people or other dogs, it seems like he is always happy. He is a great looking dog, with beautiful sky blue eyes, and a strong body. He's getting stronger every day. His new home should not have any other dogs or cats. Due to his strength and playful nature he sometimes plays rough with smaller animals and he always wants to play which can be annoying for cats. He is an active dog with alot of energy. He loves to jog with me, run around outside, and play with the dogs off leash at the dog park. He is a lovable animal and we hope he finds his new home.

Story
MEET BLUEY! No apartments please! This handsome boy is everything you’d expect from a Husky – playful, independent, and full of life. His energy levels are high, so he needs an active household where he can burn off all that Husky enthusiasm. A daily walk or hike is a must for this guy, and if you’re into running, he may just be your next running buddy! As a true Husky, Bluey is not shy about using his voice! His howls are a typical Husky trait – loud, expressive, and definitely hard to miss. If you`re in an apartment or a quiet neighborhood, Bluey’s vocalizations may not be the best fit. Bluey would do best with a dog-savvy owner who can provide structure and boundaries while also giving him plenty of love and affection. He’ll need someone who’s prepared for his high energy and who appreciates the unique qualities that make Huskies, well, Huskies – their intelligence, independence, and love for outdoor fun. Bluey is waiting at our Boston Adoption Center to meet his new best friend – maybe you?Bluey is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Bluey or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
Shrimp is a people loving, high energy puppy who hasn't had any training experience and is SO EXCITED to meet everyone. He is scared of other dogs and will need support from his owner to build his confidence; he is full of love and still hasn't decided what he wants to be when he grows up.OTHER PETS: Shrimp is not a fan of other dogs and would be happiest living as an only pet. [Should Be Only Pet]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Shrimp is a high energy dog who will need more support than usual huskies, because he also needs to work on building his own confidence as well as his trust in humans. Someone who has owned huskies (or a similar breed) previously would be best suited to help Shrimp live his best life. [Very Experienced]KIDS: Shrimp resource guards his food - he was emaciated when he came in - and would be best suited to live in a home with only older teens or adults. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Multiple daily walks, supervised outdoor playtime, mental enrichment, and getting Shrimp involved in activities be they as a companion on human adventures or participating as a dog-athlete in sports like fly ball, dock diving, weight pulling or agility. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Shrimp build his confidence and his trust bond with his humans, it will also help him learn basic cues and skills, and how to participate in different activities. Shrimp is going to need a lot of support to build his confidence. Shrimp has been easy to please, but he will need a dedicated owner and positive reinforcement to flourish. [Intense]GROOMING: Shrimp will need regular brushing to ensure his coat stays clean and matt-free. Many husky owners utilize bi-yearly grooms to help with the seasonal blowing of coats that huskies experience. [Routine Brushing / Professional Grooming] November 20, 2024, 6:47 pm
