Story
Coco is a sweet, loving, playful dog! She's a husky mix weighing 45lbs, around 3 years old. She does well with other dogs and likes to play with them, but she loves getting all the attention! She also loves to play with her toys. She is very affectionate and always wants to be near her humans. She would do best with a fenced yard to burn out her energy. Fencing should be at least 4 feet tall, she will chase deer if given the opportunity! Coco will get into things she shouldn't, such as trash cans or laundry, so some minimal doggy proofing might be needed. She can be resource-guarding of her food and toys, so she would be best in a family without small children. When we got Coco, she was a rescue who was found roaming the streets in Montgomery County. Coco is no longer getting the time and attention she deserves as many things have changed in our lives recently, both work-wise and health-wise. We believe there is a better household out there for her.

Story
““Hey there, I'm Rusty! I wasn't always a shelter dog, you know. Once, I was a superhero! Yeah, you heard me right. My superpower? Boundless energy and an insatiable curiosity. I lost my way home one day and ended up here at the shelter. Don't worry, I'm not sad. I'm just waiting for my next adventure. Maybe it's with you? I promise, with me around, life will never be dull. I'm smart, I'm goofy, and I'm ready to bring joy to your life. So, how about it? Ready to adopt a superhero?””     Rusty (45649) is a 3-year-old male Husky who is engaging with people and is food motivated for training. Rusty enjoys his daily walks to explore sights and smells. He has met other dogs  and has done okay with some, but he may not do well with another male. If you have a dog at home, you would bring them by to meet Rusty during our Animal Viewing Hours below.     Location: Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center 8576 Davis Rd Columbia, MD 21045   You can call first to see if this pet is still available: 410-313-2780 Option 0. Story
Raiden A045927 There are so many good things about Raiden. He is a really smart dog that enjoys working for his toys. He know the following cues: Sit, down, paw, bang(play dead), turn around, bow, speak, come and jump up. Yes, really!  He will do all of these things for you to give him his toy. He also loves to play fetch and brings the toy back.   We love working with Raiden. He is a 6 year old, neutered male Husky with gorgeous eyes. He is loyal, sweet and does great entertaining himself with his toys. Raiden greets visitors and has lived with young children and gotten along.  He is happy and laid back in the house after playtime in the yard and going for a walk. He squeaks his toys and tosses them around to play.  Raiden makes us laugh and smile everyday. He is fun and has done well with other dogs who are respectful and allow him to be in charge of all the toys. He does not want another dog to try to take his toy.  When we let Raiden out in the yard off leash, Raiden does not like to let us catch him. If you have a fenced yard, you will need to use a long line and work on his recall, training him to come when called.   You can visit this pet during our Animal Viewing Hours. Applications are accepted in person at our facility after you meet the animal out of their cage. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. From the moment you meet Lady, her sweet, friendly nature and warm demeanor will capture your heart ! Her gentle eyes and wagging tail reflect her genuine affection for people, making her an instant favorite among both friends and strangers. Lady loves everyone and every canine she meets. Lady absolutely LOVES the outdoors; not a fan of rain but is in her glory when it snows! She is truly perky and feisty in colder weather, but what Husky mix wouldn’t be! Lady needs a loving family she can call her own, a yard to run and play fetch, and a dog playmate. She is playful and great with kids 10 and older! Lady has recently completed basic obedience training with H.E.A.R.T (Husky Education and Rescue Team). Lady is ready for her own home and her own loving family.  She was found as a stray, but at one time she had a home given her manners.  She is crate and house-trained. Lady was a wonderful mother to her 8 puppies. While in our care, Lady was treated successfully for Heartworm.  She had a few mammary tumors removed that were benign; there are a few small nodules remaining under observation. ASR will pay for their removal if this becomes necessary or if recommended by your vet. Please consider adopting Lady.  She will be a devoted and loving companion. Lady has a unique DNA. Story
Meet Timber, a striking 15-month-old, 55-pound Catahoula/Husky mix with one mesmerizing blue eye and one brown eye. This handsome boy is as smart as he is charming, playful, and friendly, making him a fantastic companion for an active family. He loves hanging out with kids and other dogs, enjoys going on walks, playing with his dog foster brother, and is always up for an adventure. Despite his size, Timber thinks he's a lap dog and loves to snuggle, often squeezing into places too small for him. He is house-trained and potty-trained, making him an easy addition to his future home, and is currently in training, working on his manners to become the best companion he can be. Timber was picked up as a stray in Houston and ended up in a high-kill shelter, but his resilience and bright personality shine through every day, and he's ready for his second chance with a loving family. He lives with cats in his foster home and is interested in them but respects their space. Timber would thrive in an active family that can provide him with the exercise and companionship he loves. Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind, two-toned wonder—Timber is waiting to bring joy and affection into his forever home. ***TIMBER IS CURRENTLY IN HOUSTON, TX, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Sasha is 6mos old, weighs 30lbs, is intact, is not up to date on her vaccines, and is not microchipped.  "I have her half-way house-broken.  She will hold it in all night and then go outside first thing at 5am to do her business.  She will show no signs of  going, though, so if you are not on top of her she will continue pee/poop as she pleases instead of a routine. She refuses to walk on a leash.  Big cuddler.  I rescued her from a former neighbor but she has turn our lives very chaotic with her possessive behaviors towards me.  Sasha dislikes/fears loud noises and thunder.  She loves car rides.  She's kept in her crate during the day and sleeps on her dog bed at night." Sasha's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "Sasha is a wonderful dog when things are calm or it's one on one.  She has become very possessive of me though and is starting to scare my family/other dog." Bite Incident:  On 26 April 2024, in Lothian, Sasha bit her male guardian's hand; the bite didn't break the skin, animal control was not involved, and medical attention was not required.  Sasha bit him when he attempted to pick her up to put her in the crate while the kids ate dinner. Sasha's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Sasha lives with children, ages 4 & 7, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children that young; she recommends Sasha living with children 10yo and older, as she's been good with children that age; she's "weary of younger, too loud for her". Sasha's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Sasha lives with a dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Aggressive towards my older male dog.  Constantly biting or growling at him". Sasha's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Sasha lives with cats, so her guardian recommends her living with cats, stating "Ignores them". Sasha's guardian describes her as: Very active Barks alot Playful Likes to be touched Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous Crate-Trained Likes women Separation anxiety Digger Sasha's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "Sasha would do much better with a home with older kids or a couple-only family.  She is sweet and loving when it is a smaller setting.  Too many people or too much going on scares her and I think triggers her."   Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Lothian, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1.
