Spaz is an active, affectionate young dog. Originally a stray, he spent over a year at a county shelter before coming to Safe Shelter. So we don't know why, but he is really terrified of men, and of being led on a leash. This guy needs a dog-savvy, patient person. Spaz is beautiful, as you can see, is housetrained, and sits on command. Recently we had him neutered and heartworm tested, and he is current on vaccinations. He loves to run in the yard (one is required, to adopt him), and really like squeeky toys. Whatever happened to him in the past, we're hoping time and love can heal it. Nook is a sweet and loving 2-year-old female. She was found as a stray in Somerset County but is now looking for a loving home to call her own. Nook is an intelligent and affectionate dog who loves to cuddle and bring joy to those around her. Nook seems to have a habit of tilting her head to one side and spinning in circles; we are still investigating the cause. However, it does not affect Nook's ability to function or enjoy life. She may not be fully house-trained, but she's smart and eager to learn, so this should be fine for the right owner. It is unknown if Nook gets along with other dogs, so a meet-and-greet is necessary to ensure she'll be a good fit for your family. Nook has so much love to give and is just waiting for the right person or family to come along and give her a chance. Could that be you?

This handsome guy has been patiently waiting for his family. Brutus is a very smart dog and already knows many commands. He is a larger breed and would do best with an active family. Brutus loves kids and plays well them. Brutus sometimes forgets his size and strength when walking on a leash and would benefit from some leash training.Brutus is not a fan of small animals (cats, rabbits, etc.) so he will need a home/environment without them.
