Cora is in a healthy condition. Vaccines are up-to-date. Neutered, House-trained, and knows a few tricks like sit, lay down, and paw. Cora is estimated to be 4 years and 8 months old. We are looking for a new home for her where she can enjoy plenty of daily activities such as walks and play sessions. She does well in an apartment setting. Cora does well with other dogs. She enjoys playing with toys and gets along well during walks. We are unsure if she is good with cats. She is incredibly affectionate when she feels comfortable. Story
Meet Angel, she came to BARCS due to no fault of her own. Her former owner reports that Angel is loving, goofy, playful, and energetic. Angel enjoys walks, attention, and playing with tennis balls and squeaky chew toys. Angel is housebroken, can be crated and has been exposed to older children. At the shelter Angel is interested in climbing and agility and is very responsive to direction from her handler. She loves to watch the people and dogs around her and her favorite activity is sniffing! She can be a little shy when she meets new people so she would do best with a family that goes at her own pace. She also would do best in a home with older children. Angel has met other dog pals at BARCS, she prefers gentle playmates and requests to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. She does best with respectful dogs and will loosen up for chase play. Come down to BARCS and meet Angel.

Story
Meet Micah! He had a rough start to life but that doesn't keep him down AT ALL. He is a sweet, affectionate, snuggly boy who has never met someone who isn’t a friend. He loves to lean in for scratchies and will never say no to belly rubs. Micah is incredibly smart and picks up on all the things his humans are teaching him. He thrives on structure and working his brain. He is really just a big exuberant guy trying his best to be a good boy. He is working on perfecting crate and house training. Micah absolutely loves the dog siblings in his foster home. He loves to run around outside with them and enjoys a nice round of bitey face inside. He is becoming an expert at matching his friends playstyle. Micahs favorite thing is playing fetch. He especially enjoys running after frisbees. He is a big chewer and tries to share his toys everyone, including his humans! Micah has so much potential and an endless amount of love to give. His perfect home would be one willing to be patient with a big goofy happy go lucky puppy as he settles into their home. Micah needs adopters who have experience with similar breeds and understand his need for structure and keeping him accountable with continued training and mental stimulation (Per DNA he is a Siberian husky, lab, GSD, Norwegian elkhound!) Micah will need a home with a secure fenced in yard. If you think this sweet face is your guy please apply!! You must be over 21 and a home owner to adopt me. Please visit www.pittiesandpurrs.org to fill out an application. For further information contact adoptpitties@gmail.com

Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.

Story
“Hiya friends! I'm Chase, a young, brave, and somewhat goofy guy. I have a magical tale to tell. One day, while playing in the park, I found a glowing stone. As I touched it with my paw, I was transported to this shelter. I don't know how it happened, but I'm sure it was for a reason. I'm playful, independent, and smart. I can solve puzzles faster than you can say 'fetch'! I've got energy to burn and love to share. I'm looking for a forever home where my magical journey can continue. Adopt me, and together, we'll create our own enchanting adventures.” Chase (45784) is a 2 year old neutered male husky that is looking for his forever home. Chase would benefit going to a home that will give him a consistent routine and plenty of exercise. Chase has met other dogs at the shelter and has gotten along with them well. Story
Skipjack is a delightful and stunning 2-year-old Akita mix currently in a foster home. Skipjack loves adventure and he would thrive with an active person or family. In his home there aren't children, but they do visit! He does well with an 8 and 13 year old but may be a little too bouncy for small children. Initially shy, Skipjack reveals his goofy and affectionate nature once he warms up. He loves belly rubs and can’t get enough of the water, often splashing around in the dog pool. He does have a bit of a prey drive and might get distracted by rabbits or squirrels on walks, but he generally walks well on a leash. He would also prefer a home without cats. Skipjack is a sweetheart, responding well to direction and training, but he will need a committed owner to continue his training. He hasn’t had any accidents in his designated space and he is crate trained. He is generally well behaved, he is working on his excitement when meeting new people! Skipjack is a lovable, high-energy dog who would be a great companion for an active individual or family willing to continue his training and provide him with the attention he needs. Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE.
