Story
Hi, I'm Mojo and I'm a 2-year-old husky mix. I'm a happy boy who thrives on routine. I love my outside time and have enjoyed walks on the Winona trails and am very well behaved in the car. I would make a great running partner on the trails! If you have the energy, you can help tire me out by playing tug of war with me. I will even try to put the rope in your hands to get you to play. I don't mind a ball being thrown but I'm not going to bring it back to you. I love to love on my person and will lay right on top of you. As a long term resident, I'm patiently waiting for my perfect person to come along.Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!

Story
This handsome 4-year-old Husky/Chow Chow mix is ready to find his furever home! Zeke was recently surrendered to the shelter through no fault of his own—he just isn't a fan of small animals. But with people, he's a total sweetheart!Zeke is friendly, affectionate, and has a charming personality that will quickly win you over. He would thrive in a home with another dog, though he can be a bit selective with his canine companions—he knows what he likes! Zeke would also do well with children who understand how to respect his space, especially around mealtime, as he prefers not to share his food.If you're looking for a loyal, loving dog with a bit of a regal streak and a whole lot of heart, Zeke might be your perfect match. Come meet this fluffy boy and see if he's the missing piece in your family!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! Story
Meet Atlas a 3 year old Shepherd husky mix. At 3 Atlas finds himself looking for the perfect home. Not a fan of most men or young children. Atlas would thrive in a home who gives him his space and has plenty of room for lots of outside time. Outside seems to be where Atlas thrives although he was an inside dog at one point before his last owner made him an outside dog. While a fenced in yard in never a requirement, we do believe it may be best for him (but not a deal breaker if you don't have one) Someone who can read Atlas's body language would be the best fit because Atlas does go stiff when he is done getting attention or needs more space. Atlas is a great dog who does love his walks and get more and more outgoing the more time you spend with him. He is definitely going to make someone the perfect companion!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! Story
Rio9 years old Husky 49 poundsHeartworm-free and ready for a homeMeet Rio — one of our most unique residents.Rio originally came to us as a stray in pretty rough shape. He was underweight and heartworm positive, but after treatment, good food, and a lot of care, he’s feeling much better these days and looking pretty handsome if we do say so ourselves. He does still have a sensitive stomach, so he’ll need to stay on his special i/d diet to keep everything running smoothly. Now let’s talk about Rio’s personality… because he’s a little different — in the best way.Rio has actually been in and out of the shelter system for over a year, and during that time we’ve learned that he’s a bit quirky, a little backwards, and very much his own guy. He’s independent and not the type of dog who needs to be glued to your side every second of the day. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve a home of his own.Rio enjoys the company of calm dogs and would likely do well with a laid-back canine companion. Cats, however, are a different story — he thinks they’re something to chase, so a cat-free home is a must. Younger kids make him nervous, so he would do best in a home with older children or adults. He absolutely loves getting out for walks and hikes and would be a great match for someone who enjoys being outdoors but isn’t looking for a super high-energy dog. Most importantly, we’re not looking for someone to adopt Rio out of pity. He doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for him — he needs the right fit. Someone who appreciates a dog with a little personality, a little independence, and a lot of quiet charm. If you’re the type of person who understands that not every dog fits the typical mold, Rio might just be your guy.

Story
💙Meet Denver💙Sweet Denver is back with us due to unforeseen circumstances, and this big snow-loving goofball is hoping his true forever family is out there. ❄️Denver is 2 years old, and he originally came to us in 2024. We learned pretty quickly that he prefers to be the only pet in the home, and he’s a bit too energetic for kiddos under 5. After waiting 184 days, he finally found his perfect person… but tragically, his owner passed away. Denver tried living with the family, but with another dog in the home, it just wasn’t the right fit.But here’s the part we really want you to know:Denver is one of the goofiest, sweetest, and most well-behaved dogs you’ll ever meet. He walks great on a leash, knows how to sit, and absolutely lights up when he sees snow. He’s smart, loyal, and happiest when he’s outside exploring or playing. He’s the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day with his silly personality.Denver doesn’t need much — just a home where he can be the center of attention, soak up love, and enjoy life with his person by his side. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy or a best friend who will keep you smiling, Denver might just be your guy. 🐾💛

Story
Sarge is a 2 year old Male Husky, not neutered. He is great with kids and people, also good with elderly people if on leash. He is good with current household cats. He is house trained and crate trained, loves his walks, and car rides. He loves water, baths, lake swimming etc. We are looking to rehome him due to not being able to keep up with his needs and his escaping. We live on a busy road and he likes to go underneath the fence despite all of our attempts to fix the fence and keep him sequestered. He really ramped up his escaping once we had to put our other husky down because she had cancer. He is a sweet dog and loves to be around people. He just needs a little more attention than what we are able to do with both adults in the household working and the kids in two different directions. Sarge would benefit from a more secure fenced-in backyard or somebody that has the time to meet his mental needs. Included would be a large crate.
