HACHI Available for Adoption Are you an active person/couple/family looking for a pooch who can keep up with you? A 4-legged buddy who will walk/hike/jog by your side for miles and still have energy to spare? Well look no further because you’ve found him—me, Hachi,, the Energizer Bunny disguised as a handsome white dog. My background is pretty sketchy. I was wandering the streets on the south side of Chicago when the police picked me up and and brought me to Chicago Animal Care and Control. That’s where one of the CARE staff found me, looking cool, calm, and collected in my kennel, and decided to bring me to the Skokie shelter. I’ve clearly experienced some mistreatment in my past that has made me cautious meeting new people But once I know you’re my friend, I relax and warm up. The staff member who’s been working with me daily predicts that after I settle into my forever home, I’ll be the most loyal, devoted, and fun canine you’ll ever know. As I’ve said, my energy is endless, so my potential adopter(s) must commit to giving me lots of exercise each and every day, rain or shine. In addition to walking/hiking/jogging (I have good leash manners, by the way), I also adore being free for extended playtime in the backyard. I’m aball fanatic, particularly tennis balls (I like to surround myself with about 20), and can entertain myself for hours, tossing and retrieving them. But this game would be even more fun if you threw (or hit) the balls for me to chase and return. And maybe we could add a frisbee into the mix. Who knows, I might have the makings of a flying disc champion! Just in case you’re wondering, I definitely have an off-switch, and I chill out indoors. Just give me a ball of some type and allow me to watch what’s going on—I really don’t like being cut off from the action. As for the basics, I’m potty trained but hate being crated. I’m getting help withthat, but it may be that crates trigger a bad memory I just can’t get past. Finally, for now, I must be the only animal in the house, and no small children (older kids would be fine). Everyone at the shelter has been so wonderful to me, but I dream of having a kind, loving, and active forever home. I hope my bio makes you want to get to know me better, and that you’ll fill out an adoption application ASAP. Until we meet…. I have been microchipped and neutered and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Love and Licks Hachi  Additional Details Age: 2 years old Breed: Husky Mix Gender: Male, 55 lbs Children: Yes, older (kids over 12) Cats: Thrives best being sole dog in home Dogs: Thrives best being sole dog in home Personality: Energetic, Smart and Playful, Medium Energy October 3, 2024, 8:43 pm

Story
Introducing Sedona: Energetic and Loyal Companion Seeking Her Forever Home Here is what her best friend Susie has to say about her! "I have walked Sedona in the forest preserve a few times a week for the last few months, so I feel like I have gotten to know her pretty well. She is high energy, but she is not hyper. Of course when I come to get her, she is very excited, but she does calm down within a few minutes. By the time we get to my jeep, she hops right in. She gets tethered in (which she's very cooperative about), and she is well behaved on the short drive to the forest preserve. She walks pretty well on the leash-I'd give her a B. She mostly doesn't pull, but if she sees a squirrel or bird she sometimes does. She goes whatever pace I go at-including plodding. When we see another dog there, she seems curious, but that's about it. Every few minutes I say "Sedona, and she knows that she needs to come beside me and sit and then she gets a treat. She does this every single time I say her name. So I know that she is focused. Although I can only speak to when I am with her, I have never heard her bark-not at another animal or to see me or to go for a ride. Not one woof. Of course this is outside the shelter setting. Sometimes I bring a brush. We take a break during her walk and I brush her, and she cooperates. The thing that I love the most about her is that she is always cheerful. Despite being in her run, she never seems down in the dumps. What she really needs is someone to give her a chance to show the dog she is beyond the first moments, where she is just super excited to meet you." Meet Sedona, a stunning 1-year-old Husky/German Shepherd mix with an adventurous spirit and a heart full of love! 💖 Sedona came to us from the Anti-Cruelty Society, where she has been patiently waiting for her perfect home for nearly 4 months. Sedona can become overstimulated in a kennel environment, so we're eager to find her a loving foster or FURever home as soon as possible. Although she's reported to co-exist with other dogs, we're still learning more about her compatibility with canine companions. 🐶 This high-energy girl would be over the moon to join a family that can take her on outdoor adventures and provide her with a secure, fenced yard. 🌳 With her enthusiasm for life, Sedona requires a dedicated person to invest time and energy into her training, helping her learn to focus and channel her energy. Sedona may appear independent at first, but she warms up quickly and will soon become your loyal companion. Don't be surprised if she becomes your devoted shadow, always eager for your love and attention! 💕 If you think you could be the perfect match for our beautiful Sedona, please get in touch with us! Let's help this sweet girl find the loving home she deserves. 🏡
