Story
Reuben is a vibrant and energetic 5-year-old Siberian Husky/Mixed Breed who is always full of joy. His lively spirit and constant happiness make him a fun and engaging companion. Reuben loves outdoor adventures, running, and playing, making him a great fit for an active family. His friendly and enthusiastic personality ensures that he brings positivity and excitement wherever he goes. All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Meet Gemma, a sweet and energetic 2-year-old, 30-pound Husky mix who’s looking for a home where she can run, play, and be the happy companion she’s meant to be! Gemma is house and crate trained, and she loves to race around the house, play fetch, and go for long walks. She’s friendly, outgoing, confident, and playful, and she’s still learning to pick up on cues from other dogs, so she’d do best with those who appreciate her high-energy play style. Due to her energy, Gemma is better suited for a family with kids over 8 years old, as her playful nature might unintentionally knock over smaller children. Gemma would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can run freely and burn off some of her energy. She’s also a big fan of chewing on bones and fluffies, so she knows how to enjoy some quiet downtime after a fun-filled day! If you're looking for an active, loving, and fun-loving dog, Gemma could be your perfect match! Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
We are rehoming him bc we are now expecting & do not want to take the risk as he has shown aggression towards babies. We have had him for 3 years and he does fine with older children. We are not willing to adopt him to a family with children under the age of 10. Born March 2021. Around 50lbs. Up to date on all vaccines. On monthly heartworm & flea/tick prevention. Require a grain-free diet. He loves being outside! He enjoys the water and hiking trails. He is a super playful and a very good dog. He would not do well in a home with any small pets. He has been the only pet weve had, so he is used to being the only dog. Is house trained. Knows basic commands- sit, down, come, shake, stay, off. Crated when we have company, but not at night or when we leave. He does not like being groomed. We will give everything we have for him to his new home. Crate, bed, bowls, leashes, long line, harness, toys, treats. Willing to travel central and north illinois to get him to the right home.
