Story
Meet Kal El! Male Husky/American Staffordshire Terrier Mix About 2 years old About 65lbs Hi, I’m Kal El but my friends call me Kal. I spent several months in the shelter and was overlooked for all those cute little dogs and puppies. I am looking for a Forever fa that loves me almost as much as I love them. I’ve been told that I’m a big DERP! I love to run and play and need a home that has a backyard for me to run. I’m a pretty quiet guy and don’t bark all that much, unless you are ignoring me and then I will “talk” to you like most Huskies to let you know I’d like attention. Since I was in the shelter and didn’t get much opportunity to stretch my legs, I’ve been known to have a need for speed and zoomies are my jam! I’m pretty strong on a leash and am learning not to pull…but there’s so much to explore, sometimes I forget. With continued training, I’m going to be a master of the leash in no time. When I chill out, I’m very cuddly and like affection. I know the sit command and will sit for a treat, most of the time, unless I get distract…SQUIRREL! I take treats very gently too! I like to play “tug” and I know when my mouth gets too close to your fingers and am gentle with my mouth. But don’t be fooled, I play a hard game of tug and won’t let you win just because you’re a human. I’m a “Superman” for sure and if you’re not a DC fan, you should also know that I’m absolutely “MARVELous”…see what I did there? Story
Meet Napoleon – A Stunning Husky-Malamute Mix Ready for His Forever Home! Napoleon is a breathtakingly handsome red Alaskan Husky and Malamute mix, estimated to be around 5–6 years old and weighing between 55–60 pounds. With his affectionate, playful, and dignified personality, he is truly a one-of-a-kind companion looking for his perfect match. This resilient and loving boy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and children, making him a fantastic addition to a family with plenty of love to give. However, he is still working on his relationship with cats and will need supervision and training to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. Napoleon is fully housebroken and incredibly respectful indoors. He sleeps soundly on a dog bed and enjoys relaxing near his people. While he has a playful and engaging side, he is also content simply being by your side, soaking up affection and companionship. He thrives on activities that keep his mind busy, like chewing on bones and playing with toys. A great travel buddy, Napoleon loves car rides and settles down quickly for trips. His food motivation makes him eager to please and an excellent candidate for continued training. While he’s working on his leash manners and learning some basic commands, he does have a bit of that classic Husky “I do what I want” energy! With patience, consistency, and plenty of treats, he will continue to make great progress. Napoleon has had an incredible journey of resilience and recovery. He arrived from Texas underweight and in need of care. After undergoing successful surgery for entropion, a common eye condition, he has fully healed and is ready to show off his striking blue eyes and charming personality to the world! Though he is generally well-behaved, Napoleon does have a mischievous side when it comes to food—he’s been known to counter surf! However, he is non-destructive and a wonderful houseguest overall. He absolutely adores other dogs, especially his foster sister, and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to play with. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving, and affectionate addition to your family, Napoleon might just be the perfect match. He’s ready to bring his love, joy, and playful spirit to a home that will cherish him forever. If you’re interested in adopting please reach out today. Let’s find this amazing boy the forever home he deserves! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Meet Tuff: The Big Softie!  Don’t let the name fool you—Tuff may sound like a rugged action hero, but underneath that name is a sweet, affectionate, and totally lovable pup! This 3-year-old mixed breed is a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s all tail wags and cuddles.  Tuff enjoys spending time outside, sniffing every blade of grass, and would love a doggy sidekick to join him on his adventures. He came to the shelter with a dog friend, so he’s ready to form a dynamic duo in his new home! If you’re looking for a pup who’s Tuff in name but soft at heart, come meet him at 600 S River St, Aurora, IL 60506, or call 630-256-3630. Story
Hutchi is a beautiful husky mix with a sweet and gentle soul! She may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once she warms up, she’s an absolute sweetheart. In the house, she’s super calm and content to nap the day away, but the moment she steps outside, she comes to life! She loves going on walks, running around, and enjoying the fresh air. Hutchi is wonderful with kids and other dogs, making her a great fit for a family home. She’s currently working on her leash manners—she doesn’t pull hard but sometimes has her own ideas about which way to go! She already knows “sit” and “wait” and is learning not to rush through doors without permission. She’s eager to please and picks up on new things quickly. Hutchi is also crate-trained and will go in on her own, staying quietly settled inside. She’s mostly house-trained, with just a few accidents likely due to adjusting to a new environment. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who comes alive for outdoor adventures, Hutchi is the perfect match! When Hutchi arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Hutchi to be while undergoing treatment and recovery is with a loving forever family. If you choose to adopt Hutchi, the clinic staff will support you every step of the way, answering questions and offering guidance throughout the process. From detection to the final treatment, the process typically takes about three months and involves simple at-home steps to ensure his safety during recovery. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Hutchi will make a full recovery! It’s also important to know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal through mosquitoes. With the right care and love, Hutchi will be back to his happy, healthy self in no time! For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Edelweiss, I'm the goodest girl looking for a home of my own! My brother and 2 sisters have found great homes! When will it be my turn? When we were all at the rescue all the volunteers told me I was the calmest one of all of us! I would just chill in my kennel while my siblings went crazy! My foster mom says I'm a great houseguest! I get along great with my foster siblings. I am great in my crate for many hours and I'm potty trained. I LOVE all humans large and small. I LOVE all the dogs I meet! And I am a huge cuddlebug! I try to be the bestest girl! I am 7 months old now. They say I'm a Husky mix but I really don't know. I know I have big ears that stick up! People think I'm pretty! I also know a few tricks! I will make the best companion and be your best friend! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lucy needs a new living situation. She is a gorgeous young adult Husky  and is very loved by her people but the resident dog is not accepting her into the pack.  Lucy loves other dogs big and small and is very happy to run and play but would do better with a submissive female or male.  She is very sweet and loving and is good with kids, adults, and cats. She knows some basic commands and is potty trained. Frisbee and catch are some of her favorite games but she is still learning how to catch and return them. A fenced yard for her to run and play in would make her very happy.  This girl was a rescue mama dog which makes her extra special! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Keegan is a young bouncy boy who is as nice as he is energetic. While it was pretty apparent when he came in to us that he was not given a lot of training in his previous home, he obviously was loved as he has a great personality and is a very loving boy. He is a diamond in the rough kind of dog-he needs to learn some manners (and he is a quick learner) but with an active home that will give him exercise and structure, he'll be a well trained boy in no time. Keegan is good with other dogs and great with people. He might knock over little ones in the home so until he is a bit more trained, older kids are probably best.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Marina is looking for her furever home that she can call her own. She's house broken, crate trained and knows some basic commands. She will need a strong positive leader, previous Husky experience preferred, and will do best with no kids and no small animals. She does get along with some dogs, mostly older laid back males, but will do fine as an only dog. Do you have a place for Marina to live out her retirement years with?
