*** In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society`s physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form.***Sky does very well with larger dogs but sometimes can be a bully to smaller dogs than her who are shy. She has previously done well when being dog sat with my sister who has a cat but also has tried to go after them outside so that part is less predictable. Though she has done well around our newborn I would certainly be careful with her because she has shown some territorial behavior around her high value treats so it may be better for her to be in a home with a child old enough to understand that she needs to have her things respected. She was recently diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia but it does not seem to bother her on walks. Our vet (which my husband works at) has worked with her on her separation anxiety and it can be managed with medication but there will certainly be an adjustment process I believe. It is certainly managed easier with long walks or even bike rides which she loves! She takes trazadone for her separation anxiety when we are out of the house and takes rimadyl prior to long walks or bike rides. She does not need medication except under these circumstances. She does not have dietary restrictions! Both my husband and I have worked in animal care for a significant time so all of the training has been done by us. She knows basic commands like sit or stay but if she is too excited does not seem to remember them :). She is house broken and will not go in the house if someone is home but when she gets very anxious about someone being gone may very well go in the house unfortunately. This does not happen when she is on medication. Please reach out to anitaarabik@gmail.com or more information.

As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. ***Personality profile: Panda hails from remote Saskatchewan, where he was found wandering around in search of a couch to call home in 2018. All I knew about my Canadian ditch dog companion when I adopted him was that he got `an A around bears` but was only `medium around moose.` Today, Panda is a chill city hound and couch potato. Like all huskies, he has absurd exercise requirements, but more like `two long walks a day, thank you sir` and not `a brisk run through the woods at five every morning or I WILL destroy your sofa.` He likes a little tug of war in the evening, a scratch on the back of the neck, and his own bed from which he can hug you with his eyes while you watch TV. Panda would love a scrap of a garden in which he can dig holes and hunt moles but can also be content sniffing out rabbits on his walks around the neighborhood. He was in his element when I took him on cross-country ski trips through the north woods of Minnesota, but he`s also pleased to just watch you cook dinner just in case you drop anything. All that to say, Panda would love the outdoors and adventures in his life but really doesn`t need a lot to be perfectly happy.Other pets: Panda has lived with other dogs and cats. While they have happily coexisted, I think Panda would be happiest in a home where he is the only pet. He can be a little bit of a bully to cats, though not outright aggressive towards them: he has played the role of `fun police,` growling at one cat of ours whenever he got too high on catnip and went on ragers across the whole house. Nobody likes a party pooper, Panda. A chill or senior cat, on the other hand, might not even notice he`s there. Other dogs are usually okay, but he is prejudiced against unneutered males, German shepherds, and Irish wolfhounds (no idea, he just is).Children: Panda is fine with older kids (10+) but small kids are a no. Panda growls at small kid

Story
Panda is six years old, pretty healthy, a low-maintenance husky, but by that I mean he only requires two, 45 minute walks a day -- not a five-mile run in the woods every morning. He hates the vet, but loves the people at the dog store who give him treats. He's great on the leash, unless there is a squirrel, in which case, all bets are off, both for his manners and for the life of the squirrel. I'd give him a B- on cats (we've had two since adopting Panda). In terms of other mammals, I heard from his first foster mom that he gets an A around bears and is medium around moose (Panda hails from the woods of rural Saskatechwan; he was found roving around in search of a couch to call home). We love him dearly, but unfortunately are rehoming him for the sake of our 1 year old son. While Panda is generally good with children, he's been increasingly aggressive towards our son, and though he hasn't bitten him (or anyone for that matter), we worry what might happen once our son is fully walking.

Story
Sweet Girls story starts out with her being abandoned by her owner. She was malnourished and afraid to the point of cowering if you raised your voice even slightly. She wouldn't eat for the first four days that I took her in, was always afraid and not potty trained. She is potty trained now. But damn if she wasn't the sweetest thing. She is super loving and charismatic. Shes young, requires a lot of attention and exercise. She loves to take long walks. Her one issue is that she has severe separation anxiety when I leave the home. That is the only time where she will act up and start grabbing slippers, knocking pillows off couches and getting into things. When I do side jobs I have to leave her in the yard which is becoming a problem because winter is here. On the cold days I had to turn jobs down, which is a problem. I don't know how to correct this issue. I want to find her a adoptee who is equipped to deal with this issue, has the patience and the love that Sweet Girl deserves..

Story
Kola is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! Kola is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized - Currently taking medication for anxiety support More about Kola: Housebroken: Yes! Crate trained: Doing well! She has done well in her crate when home alone for up to 9 hours. She has preferred to have free roam overnight so she can be near the other dogs in her foster home. Leash walking: She has shown some mild reactivity to other dogs and people on walks, and this has been easy to manage but she is muzzled on walks to prevent escalation or incidents with people/animals getting too close. She pulls towards squirrels and bunnies. Dog social: She needs a slow, structured intro to other dogs, and then LOVES the other dogs. She is very tolerant and plays very nicely. Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown, but she is likely not a match for younger kids given her nervousness with new people Kola likes: - Stuffed toys - Playing with her dog friends - Loving on her trusted humans Kola needs a person who will respect her need for slow intros and not put her into situations that will overwhelm her (crowded places, parties with unfamiliar guests, etc.). She seems to remember people once she's had the proper introduction and the process doesn't need to be repeated. Once you introduce someone to her, she accepts them fully and will love them as if she's always known them. People she meets always express excitement to have made it into her circle because she's so wonderful to spend time with. She requires the same kind of introduction with dog friends, but once she's familiar with a dog, she will play endlessly and is very tolerant. Kola's adoption fee is $300, and she is eager to find her perfect furever home! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***

Story
Plume is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! Plume is: Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized - Currently taking medication for anxiety support - Heartworm positive and on activity restriction. Plume is undergoing treatment at Ellis Clinic at no charge to their adopter. Heartworm is a treatable disease that most dogs make a full recovery from. You can learn more about heartworm treatment on our resource page - https://www.onetail.org/heartworm/ More about Plume: Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: She has done best with free roam when home alone for up to 6 hours, after taking ~20 minutes to settle initially. She will need to keep working on this as she transitions to her new home. Leash walking: She can be very alert on leash, and can pull toward and bark at other dogs she sees on walks. She would benefit from continuing to work on loose leash walking with positive reinforcement, and would do best in a quieter neighborhood. Dog social: She has been selective with her dog pals and may be comfortable with some but not all. She has shown resource guarding behaviors with other dogs, and may do best as the only dog in her future home. Cat social: Unknown, but she has shown prey drive toward small critters on walks Kid friendly: Likely not a match, as she has shown resource guarding behaviors with people, and can be excitable when greeting people. Plume likes: - Admiring and rearranging her toy collection - Using her brain to solve puzzles! - Following you around to politely request belly rubs Plume is an energetic dog who loves her long walks, loves being around her people, and really benefits from having interactive games/puzzles. She will do well with extra training for nose work, agility, or learning fun new tricks. She is also ready to expand on her basic training. When Plume is tired out, she loves to cuddle on the couch and will ask for belly rubs. When she dreams you will hear her Husky vocals :) Plume can be a little shy/cautious at first and needs some time to adjust to a new place and new person. Once comfortable, she's super friendly and snuggly, but is also great at entertaining herself if you're busy. She can be pretty alert on walks, and would likely do best a quieter neighborhood where she can feel more relaxed and can best focus on positive reinforcement training. As she has shown resource guarding behaviors with people and other dogs, she may prefer to be in a home without kids or other dogs. Plume is very smart and curious, and would do well in a home where she will get plenty of opportunities to use her noggin to solve puzzles or learn new things. Plume's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter, and she is ready to get all the belly rubs in her forever home! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Thor is really playful and has lots of energy. He's fun and loving. He loves to go on walks and explore everything. Unfortunately he has bad separation anxiety and needs someone that will be with him and I work nights so when I leave he will bark and howl the whole night. He needs attention and someone willing to be patient with him because he has a lot of energy. He would be happy in a big backyard, ideally fenced because he can jump high and akitas are really good at escaping. All in all he needs a loving family that will give him his forever home.
