Story
Iris is a striking male husky mix with captivating blue eyes and unique heterochromia—one of his eyes even boasts two colors! He is three years old and 67 pounds. His rescue story began one cold winter night when his foster mom was driving. She saw a dog looking homeless and hungry and eating scraps of trash out of a parking lot. It was heartbreaking. She knew right then and there she had to help this poor dog so she rushed home and gathered up fleece blankets and dog food and hoped he would still be there when she went back. He was. He was cautious, but he watched from afar as she placed the blankets and food down for him. She drove away and later came back to find him nestled up in a ball on the fleece blankets. He was so timid and scared, but after hours she earned his trust and took him home. He was immediately grateful and sweet. Now it’s time for this sweet boy to find a forever home. Iris is gentle, low energy, loves squeaky toys, and is crate and potty trained.  He enjoys being pet and has become a bit of a couch potato. Iris would do best with a family that is patient and understanding and see how much he has blossomed. When he becomes scared, he looks for reassurance. He is very submissive and takes well to any verbal correction. No cats for Iris, he’s not a fan but he is dog friendly and shares his home with other dogs. Iris would love to be home snuggled next to you.  Age: 3 years   Weight: 68 lb   Temperament: good with dogs, not yet tested with young kids    Training: House trained, crate trained .    Vetting: neutred, up to date on vaccines, HW negative     For questions, please email:   sonaligokhale@yahoo.com  &#226&#128&#139   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.  December 16, 2024, 8:42 am

Story
Eva is a two year old, 62# Husky girl. She is likely not 100% Husky but her temperament and personality are very characteristic of the breed. She is spunky, playful, talkative, and has never met a stranger. Eva is active without being over-the-top in terms of energy level and settles well in the house with sufficient exercise. Being a husky, she can also be mischievous and a bit of a Houdini, though she is not destructive. With dogs she can be a bit domineering and is what I would classify as a “rude greeter”. Meaning, her body language when meeting new dogs can be a bit antagonistic and she has needed some coaching on how to interact more politely. Once she is acquainted with a dog, she is largely a gracious playmate and confidante, although she typically prefers male dogs. Not that I ever really condone dog parks except in special circumstances, but she is definitely not a dog park or commercial doggy daycare candidate. I also would not recommend her to a home with small animals or very young children. Eva has been bounced around a bit in her short life and would love to find her forever family. She walks well on leash, has good name recall, and knows basic obedience commands. She is also spayed, chipped, and up to date.

Story
Nellie is a 10 month old husky/bulldog mix who is always looking for her next adventure! I found Nellie running around in my neighborhood one day and she practically hoped into my car without hesitation. I was walking her around the neighborhood the next day where her original owner saw me and when I tried to reunite them he claimed he didn’t want her anymore. I took her in begrudgingly because I already have a dog and didn’t want to deal with puppy behavior but also didn’t want to take her to a shelter. I’ve had her for a few months now and she’s very sweet with every person and dog she meets. However she is very active and inquisitive and she’s needs someone who can give her structure in a way I can’t. My other dog is an older rescue who’s just more self reliant and dependable and Nellie is a wild card that I think might fit better in an active multi person/dog household.

Story
Zoomer is incredibly handsome and super smart. He's able to master new skills quickly and curious about the world around him. Zoomer LOVES car rides and walks. He's strong, so, he'd do best with a more active adopter who is looking for an adventure buddy. He would love to hike and camp and sit out under the stars. He would love road trips and roughing it in the great outdoors. He'd love having a backpack and a job. He would love being included and being talked to. He'd love to feel like he belongs. Zoomer's adoption fee has been paid for by his Secret Crush!
