Story
Meet Storm — a stunning, blue-eyed 14-year-old Husky with the sweetest spirit. Storm may be a senior, but she’s full of charm, personality, and that classic Husky spark. She lights up when she’s outside and absolutely must have a secure yard where she can explore, sunbathe, and enjoy her day. It’s her happy place, and she thrives with that freedom. Storm is healthy, recently updated on vaccines, and has clear bloodwork. She’s gentle, social, and loves being near her people — the perfect easygoing companion for a calm home. Her owners relocated and were unable to take her with them, so she’s now searching for someone who will adore her and give her the peaceful, outdoor-filled life she deserves. If you want a loving, beautiful Husky with lots of heart, Storm is ready to be your sweetest senior adventure buddy.

Story
Sophie was found on a rural road in Soth Texas with her brother. Clearly they were dumped like so many other young pups. Good Samaritans stop them from being hit by cars. Sophie is a sweet girl with a very independent personality. She's a laid back lady that's content with playing outside or being a couch potato. She's VERY smart and true to her being part Malinois catches on quickly. Shet gets a long dogs and does well with cats. She needs a person or a family to call her own. Open your heart and home to sweet Sophie and adopt her today.  Sophie does really well with other dogs and cats but we aren't sure if she's been around children. She would benefit from an active Colorado lifestyle of hiking, running and trips to the dog park.  Sophie is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring her up and into their home for the holidays. Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2586014##

Story
Luka was found by a Good Samaritan while at work in the rural town of Wortham, Texas, but they couldn't keep him, so he was surrendered to the small local shelter. Unfortunately Luka, and all the animals at the shelter, have little prospects as the shelter does little to no adoptions. There is a small group of individuals in Wortham that work tirelessly to network (and vet, on a very limited budget) these animals to foster-based rescues in and out of Texas that are willing to consider them. Red Fern was contacted by one of these volunteers who, together with her high school daughter, go to the holding facility every day to walk the dogs, socialize them, take them to the vet, and just spend quality time with them. Luka is very outgoing and active and truly has a great personality. He LOVES to play with other dogs. His best friend is a German Shepherd named Trixie who is also available for adoption, so if you're looking for a pair- you've found them! From the shelter volunteer who asked us to save these dogs: "He absolutely loves my daughter, she’s 15; every time he sees her he starts talking and talking and talking and he’s just so full of excitement when he sees her- he’s like a big child. Once he knows he’s safe, he is so loyal. He has gotten out of the main door a few times and it was just because he wanted to be by me. He could’ve ran away at any moment but he doesn’t, he stays right by my side- very, very loyal. He is the welcoming committee to all the new dogs. Every new dog that comes in is usually scared and he always goes to their kennel to comfort them. He’s quirky. He’s funny. He’s silly. He’s so cute. It makes up for the naughty things he does."  On that note, a couple things... typical Husky, Luka does not like to be enclosed in a small area for any length of time, he will dig out or climb a fence, so a strong plan in place is needed to keep him safe, secure and with you! He is also destructive to loose objects- keep them secure! Once you figure out what chews and toys and activities he likes, Luka should be able to be redirected to these instead. Shots up to date:  Yes  Fixed?  Yes, neutered Good with other dogs?  Yes Cats?  Unknown  Kids?  Yes Potty trained?  Unknown  Crate trained?  Unknown  Leash trained?  Yes Special needs?  Typical Husky- requires a yard with a tall, secure fence that he cannot climb. Luka has made the journey from San Antonio, Texas to Colorado and is being fostered in Denver, available to meet!
