Story
About Yuki: We adopted Yuki from the Milpitas Animal Shelter, HSSV, 7 years ago. She is currently 7 going on 8. Estimated born in July. She is up to date on her shots, Spayed, and within normal weight range. She is house trained. In true husky fashion, if you forget to let her out or spend time, she will "talk" with you to remind you. Yuki is a very energetic husky mix. She loves people and gets very exciting when meeting new people. She behaves like she is a smaller dog and is very submissive around other dogs her size. Yuki does know basic commands: Sit, Stay, Come, Back, Paw, Down. She does have a high prey drive. Squirrels or small critters (non dogs) make her want to chase them. Reason for Rehome: Due to job and life changes, we are living in conditions that are unfavorable for a dog of her size and breed. We are seeking a family that is more active and/or has a larger capacity for attention to give her.

Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Three years old, neutered, and was a rescue; it takes some time for him to earn your trust; he is strong and sometimes pulls on leashes when walking. He has typical stubborn husky behavior; no cats or small animals, and no kids under 14, please, due to his mouthy and nipping behavior, and his bite is strong; sometimes you will bleed if you force him, so do not! Always ask for his permission before patting him, especially when he is lying down, which is the most vulnerable position for an outdoor animal like him during his earlier life when he was left outside 24/7 in the yard with a lack of socialization and human interaction. He can stay by himself for around 4 to 6 hours, but remember that Husky is a pack animal, which is not recommended for more than 2 hours. When leaving him alone, you need to lock him outside or create a safe zone for him inside the house; just like most huskies, they will start to be destructive and chew when bored. Generally, after three years old, they will begin to calm down. He was never crate trained, rides decent in the car, but makes lots of exciting noise! Trial adoption is recommended; feel free to see if he fits your family, I need to find him a good home, so I do not mind taking him back if things do not go well with the adoption.

Story
Charlie, a beautiful white German shepherd mix, is calm and curious but apprehensive about the shelter environment. When getting him out of his kennel for a walk, he is excited to see you and eagerly exits the kennel with you. In the yard, he approaches with a wagging tail to solicit treats but does not allow petting. He will let you know he is uncomfortable by giving a little growl. He loves treats, and he appears to be potty trained! When walking through the kennel room, Charlie likes to stop and say hi to the little male chihuahua next door and other polite neighbors while ignoring the barky and rude ones. Charlie needs a patient and experienced foster willing to work with him and who can use positive reinforcement training methods to help him feel more comfortable handling his situation.

Story
He is a sweet, loving Husky, perfect for those looking for a quiet family dog! Unlike other huskies, Aki doesn’t bark and is very calm. He only howls when he’s happy! Aki is incredibly friendly and loves being around people. He enjoys cuddles and pets and is also house, potty, and leash trained. Being food-motivated, Aki is perfect for further training. I adopted him from the Humane Society Adoption Center this year, but unfortunately, I can no longer take care of him due to my current financial situation. It’s heartbreaking because he has been loved by so many people around me. I’m hoping to find someone who can provide him with the same amount of love!

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 5th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Meet Sage, Forest’s adventurous sister and a Husky mix with a unique, cat-like personality. Sage is very aware of her surroundings and often takes moments to sit in the doorway, calmly watching the world pass by. Independent by nature, she’s not afraid to go off on her own little explorations, making her a curious and confident pup. But when it’s time to play, Sage’s playful side shines through—she loves batting around balls and tossing toys into the air, catching them before settling down to chew.   Here’s a look into Sage’s daily schedule, which she shares with Forest and her other sister:   • 7 AM: Sage greets the day bright and alert, ready to explore. • 8 AM: Breakfast is served, consisting of wet food, kibble, and warm water. • Morning Exploration: After breakfast, Sage's love for playtime is evident. She enjoys a mix of playtime with her siblings and solo exploring. She’ll venture off on her own or sit by the doorway, curiously watching the world outside, or find a cozy place to lie down with a toy. Unlike her siblings, she often takes time to soak in her environment before diving into the action. • Mid-Morning Nap: Once she’s satisfied with her explorations, Sage takes a little nap to recharge. • Lunch (1–2 PM): After her rest, she enjoys lunch before tossing around her favorite toys, including balls she can catch and chew on. And wrestling while 'play-growling' with her siblings. • Afternoon Play: Sage will run about creating her own fun, which can include tearing up the puppy pad, chasing after her siblings, or 'sneaking up' on a ball or stuffed toy. • Dinner (7–8 PM): After a day of exploring and playing, she enjoys dinner, followed by a final round of play. • Evening Wind-Down: As the evening quiets down, Sage might sit in a doorway, content to watch the world pass by, or make her way to the back of the crate for alone time before settling in for the night. Sage is the perfect mix of playful and independent, with a curious spirit and an affectionate heart. She is very aware of her surroundings, smart (and mischievous!) and will want to have her family close by - even when she is off exploring. Sage is only an option for a home that has a dog previously. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 6.    October 5, 2024, 4:30 am
