Story
HI - MY NAME IS MISTO, and I was recently rescued from a very scary California shelter, where I was terrified. I even growled at people, according to the shelter. I am starting to come around, but I will need a quiet home wit someone who can be patient while I learn to trust again. I apparently was surrendered by my previous owner, who had better things to do than take care of me. As we enter the holiday season, I hope someone will see me and want to adopt me. I am young (age soon to be determined) and am a beautiful boy, with stunning blue eyes. We will test with dogs in the coming days. Can you foster or adopt me?

Story
MEET TENOR & BASS! This happy and loving duo has waited much too long for a home. They are a loving, fun pair of playful dogs who need a foster or forever home! They are very affectionate toward people, and love, love, love each other. They are likely brothers, who found themselves at a crowded California shelter with no adoption interest. Fortunately they were rescued but still haven't found a home yet. They must be adopted together as they are extremely bonded. Both are almost 7 years old. Bass, the brown-and-white pup, weighs only 55 lbs., and Tenor (tan and white) weighs about 60 lbs. They are fun, active pups who love to run, play and snuggle. They would love to be adopted by someone who could take them on hikes, walks and other outings. They currently play with each other for entertainment but it'd be great for them to branch out and see the world. Bass & Tenor love to jump up and give kisses. They are not super friendly with other dogs, so should be the only dogs in the home - but they have plenty of love to give and will be grateful to whomever adopts them. If you can foster or adopt Bass & Tenor, please email for an application.

Story
Meet Kai, 5 year old male husky. Kai came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after his previous guardians were moving and unable to continue caring for him. In his previous home, he lived with adults and children under 12 years old and did well. Kai prefers to have the company of his people more often than not and would bark when left alone in his previous home. He lived with a female husky in his previous home and enjoyed playing with her. He knows “sit”, “down” and “mano” (aka paw). When riding in the car, Kai enjoys sticking his tongue out the window. Kai’s previous guardian does not recommend he live in a home with cats. In the Shelter, Kai has enjoyed going for walks and sniffing around in new environments. Despite being more mature, Kai still has lots of energy to expel and would thrive with an active guardian who will take him along for adventures. Now through February 15th, we are hosting “Adopt Your Valentine” where adoption fees are reduced to $50. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchips. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week!
