Story
Appa is a loving Siberian Husky. He just celebrated his second birthday in July. I purchased Appa from a litter in August of 2022. His mom and dad were show dogs, and his siblings all look just like him. It breaks my heart to have to rehome Appa, but at the age of 24 with all of the working and traveling I do, Appa does not get the attention he needs. I just moved into a small one bedroom apartment in SF and spend 8+ hours away each day. When I get home, i'm exhausted and poor Appa just wants to run around. He deserves a home where he can do that throughout the day in a backyard or just someone who works from home and can give hime the attention he needs. I am also constantly traveling, and have spent thousands of dollars boarding him that I can no longer afford. He is such a good boy- just a bratty personality like all huskies. I'm hoping I can rehome him local in the Bay Area so I can still visit him from time to time. I love you Appa. Adoption includes large dog crate and leash.

Story
Alvie is a perfect blend of adventure and calm. He loves bike rides, walks, and exploring new places, yet he has a laid-back nature, often content to sit at your feet while you work. Loyal and comforting, he’s the kind of dog who will quietly stay by your side, making him an excellent companion. He walks well on a leash and enjoys getting his legs wet at the beach, showing off his adventurous spirit. Despite his independence, he’s also a big fan of snuggling next to your feet, offering both comfort and affection. With his stoic, regal demeanor, Alvie is an old soul who will become your loyal shadow once he trusts you. He takes treats with gentle care and his favorite snack is string cheese. Alvie is smart and responds well to guidance & structures. While he doesn’t require a husky-savvy owner, he would thrive best with someone experienced in handling dogs. From Alvie's foster dad: Alvie loves running or biking with his human. He comes back with a happy face every time. He is very responsive to obedience training. He knows sit, wait, heel, here, leave it and no. He prefers to meet other dogs slowly. Once he trusts you, he will be your ride or die. He has very good leash manners once awhile he just needs some "reminders". Alvie is crate and muzzle trained, with no signs of separation anxiety. However, due to his high prey drive, we don’t recommend placing him in a home with small animals. If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and loving companion, Alvie is your perfect match. Story
Apollo is a wonderful and loyal companion, with an incredible ability to bond deeply once he feels secure and trusts his person. Though he initially struggled with some dog reactivity, through patience and guidance, he overcame this challenge. He now prefers to focus on his human and is happiest when other dogs keep their distance. Apollo is affectionate and loves belly rubs, rolling over to soak in all the attention. He's regal, a dignified dog who carries himself with a sense of maturity, likely shaped by the hardships he's faced in the past. Despite this, he's ready to be a full-time working companion, thriving on structure, stability, and clear boundaries. His new home should provide him with safety and set rules, as Apollo responds well to leadership and consistency. While he’s not high-energy, he enjoys hikes and loves wearing his doggie backpack. He’s perfect for someone looking for a calm, reliable, and emotionally intuitive best friend. Apollo would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention, as he’s a true “people dog.” He will absolutely thrive with someone who understands his need for structure and stability and will reward them with loyalty and love. His excellent genetics and demeanor suggest he could have come from working parents, which is reflected in his composure under pressure and his ability to adapt to different situations. Apollo is truly a regal dog who has seen tough times but has emerged stronger and more mature, ready for a stable home where he can shine as the incredible companion he is.

Story
Sunny is a dream dog. Sweet, intelligent, loving, and fun. She’s small…about 35 lbs. Everyone who meets her adores her. We are not sure of the breed, but she’s the size of a cattle dog with the tail of a husky....and we see golden retriever in her too. She is not aloof like a husky can be, she loves doting on her owner, and like a cattle dog, she always wants to sit right next to you. She's very sweet and easy. Sunny is about 1 year old, very responsive when called. She has perfect recall at the dog park. She is playful and fun and she’s a great hiker and walker. She is picks up training commands quickly and she loves playing fetch, chewing on bones and playing with toys. She likes all dogs so a home with another dog to wrestle and play with are fine with her. She’s good with kids too. At a petite 35lbs, Sunny is ready to explore the world by your side. She sleeps soundly in her crate throughout the night and likes to be in a room where she can see you. She's eager to please and sits calmly next to her foster mom while she works. Sunny was abandoned and left alone to fend for herself. We fell in love with her and contacted a rescue to help us find her a home. Like most young dogs, Sunny needs training, exercise, and love to make her a great K9 citizen. If you are a hiker, she would be the best companion! Sunny is spayed and up to date with vaccines, and flea treatments. Sunny is in San Francisco. If you are ready to adopt, email us for an application. Questions? Email us at: redding5765@gmail.com or call at 415-279-0119 You will love her. We think she's the best dog in the world.

Story
This gorgeous Husky boy is ready to be your new best friend! Hiro is looking for a new home because his current guardians can no longer care for him. He is very loved and looked after. This sweet guy is only about 3 and a half years young and weighs in at about 50lbs. He gets along with small female dogs and is best as a solo dog. He would best thrive placement in a home not with another male dog due to his lack of confidence. But people are where Hiro really shines. He'd love a home where he can soak in plenty of love with his humans, joining you for outings as well as cuddle time. Hiro would do best in a home free of kitties due to his excitement in small critters. Hiro is crate trained and settles in well when left home alone- no destruction or anxiety here! Are you ready for Hiro to join you on your next adventure? Hiro is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, house trained, knows basic commands. He is a very sweet dog. He knows commands to sit, down, stays, gives paw, potty outside, and loves praises. She loves meeting new people. If you are interested in learning more about Hiro, please contact Veronica at by email at Princess_vw@yahoo.com

Story
Aruba is a very sweet senior husky. She was not claimed after being found as a stray but seemed well cared for. Such a good girl deserves a forever home that will love her through her retirement years. Aruba is patiently waiting to give you all her love and devotion. * 8 years old * 41 lbs. On the small side. * Mellow * Playful and silly with people (once she gets over a little shyness) * Not especially fond of other dogs * Quiet * Easy to walk * Respectful kids are fine Aruba does fine around other dogs as long as they don't expect a playmate. Too much attention seems to get on her nerves and you'll see her rare cranky side. You can meet Aruba any afternoon but Monday at our main location of 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California. There is no adoption fee if you are 62 or older!

Story
Sequoia is super sweet, energetic, and quite unique, maybe even a little quirky. She’s very friendly and affectionate with people, and not reactive to dogs on walks. She loves belly rubs. Sequoia doesn’t seem to have a lot of leash-walking experience, and likes to keep tabs on her human by circling around you and nudging you along, which could be part of her herding dog instincts. She can be a little anxious and is not particularly interested in toys, preferring to be out and about and observing everything going on. She would likely do best in an active household where she can be engaged. She is housetrained. Sequoia is currently in a foster home. If you're interested in her, please email KSwanson@cityofberkeley.info. First, we'll set up a virtual meeting with their current foster family via phone, Zoom, or Facetime, to provide you with more detailed information. Then, if you feel that Sequoia might be a good adoption fit, shelter staff will gladly coordinate an up-close and personal meet and greet with your potential family member. Thank you for your support!

Story
This is Coraline, which is a little formal so we call her Cora for short. She’s a dog who probably has not been handled very much in the past, even though she’s an adult. She will need a little time to get comfortable with leashes and harnesses, as well as strangers. But she’s coming around nicely with some staff and volunteers. Once she gets hooked up to a leash, Cora is a super-nice walker. She’s medium-energy and really likes getting exercise and sniffing around. She also passes other dogs politely, showing some mild interest but not being reactive in any way. Like many huskies, she appears to like to chase small animals like squirrels and birds. And huskies usually need secure yards. If you can offer that, plus some exercise with walks or runs, Cora might be your perfect companion. We will be so happy to see her blossom, once she finds her family and her new home.

Story
Say hello to Starburst. She is a lovely young pup who is just learning about life. She appears not to have been exposed to much before now, and so she is a little shy to warm up at first. She wasn’t familiar with stairs or an elevator before, but she’s getting the hang of these new experiences. Starburst is very cuddly with humans once she’s comfortable, and loves petting and brushing. She is soaking up all of the attention she can get. Starburst walks nicely on leash, politely passes other dogs, and will enjoy an owner who helps build her confidence with praise and positivity. We know she will blossom with consistency and love.

Lacey is the goldilocks dog: just right. She has lots of energy, but settles nicely. She is interested in other dogs, but not too reactive about it. She is friendly with people, but not too needy. Lacey is really the full package of what you need to be a great family dog. She would probably love a secure back yard and a running or hiking buddy. Some kids to play with might be great, too. She appears to be housetrained already and walks nicely on leash. She also appears to be loyal and fun. Come meet her and see if she’s the right dog for you!

Story
Hiromi was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but in less than 10 days, she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She greets people with ease as long as they approach with the same calm energy that she emits. She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. This gorgeous girl is approximately 4-years old and weighs 57 pounds. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Interested in adopting? Story
We don't know much about Tobi's past, but his future is bright.  He is a big boy with a heart the size to match.  He is a gentle giant with a gregarious, carefree attitude and is eager to learn and experience the world. He is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. Tobi is playful and has a welcoming aura about him.  He also has an unabashed, confident side to him.  He's just not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is approximately 5 yrs old, and due to his size should be on a good quality joint supplement.  He's only been with us a short time, so will need to gain a few pounds to look his best, but he's already on his way to showing us his beautiful soul.
