Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Caesar, a 1-year-old, 53-pound pup ready to bring his playful, loving nature into your home! Caesar has all the energy and smarts of a working breed pup, with a gentle disposition that makes him an affectionate and loyal companion. He's attentive, eager to learn, and always up for fun! On a recent field trip, Caesar proved to be a dream in the car, settling in calmly after a quick whine. On leash, he had a little puppy excitement, but quickly checked in with his handler and responded well to redirection. He was curious about people and other dogs but remained easy to manage and wasn’t reactive. Caesar also seems to know "sit" and is ready to learn more—we’re confident that with some tasty treats, he’ll be a quick study! Caesar would thrive in a home with patient adopters who can continue his training, helping him refine his manners and curb his excitement. He’s gentle when playing with other dogs at the shelter, and could do well with a compatible canine sibling, or as an only dog, with plenty of playdates. If you're ready for a smart, sweet pup with lots of potential, Caesar is waiting to meet you!January 27, 2025, 5:42 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:8Olio is a high-energy husky mix who's ready to bring fun and excitement into the right home! At just 2 years old and weighing 53 pounds, he’s a playful, toy and treat-motivated pup with lots of potential. He’s eager to learn, already knows “sit,” and has a soft mouth for treats, making him a very good boy when it comes to training. Olio loves to play fetch with a stuffie and checks in with his humans often, showing his affectionate side. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything, so his new family should be ready to give him plenty of physical and mental stimulation. When it comes to doggy friends, Olio has a lot of enthusiasm and loves to wrestle, but he’s still learning the ropes of how to interact appropriately. He'd do best in a home with a well-matched dog friend, or as a solo pup with regular social opportunities. If you're looking for an active companion to share in your adventures, Olio is your guy!January 24, 2025, 2:52 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Office:OfficeMeet Winter, a 5-year-old, 39-pound petite husky mix with a fun-loving spirit and a sweet nature! Her main love is spending time with her people. Whether it’s joining the family for a dinner party or meeting strangers out and about, Winter just rolls with it and enjoys being part of the action. Winter has been doing well in her foster home and has started to work on leash manners. She has plenty of energy and loves her walks, so she’s looking for an active home that can provide her with the exercise she craves. Her foster family reports she enjoys downtime in her pen — she likes her head outside the crate while she sleeps! When meeting other dogs, Winter is mellow and calm. She's a bit independent around them and could do well with a well-matched canine companion or as the solo pup in the home. Winter has a seizure disorder that’s well-managed with medication. This sweet lady will need a home that can continue to provide for her care. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion, Winter can’t wait to meet you! He’s a fan of sniffing everything on his walks, and he follows his person well.  Getaround has been social with other dogs and enjoys playtime at the shelter, especially chase games. Story
Ivy is a 1-year-old chow mix pup looking for a forever home. Ivy is lovely but still very much a puppy. She is still quite mouthy. Ivy is housebroken and loves toys. She is great in the car but needs more training not to pull on a leash. She will alert bark when someone comes to the door but is not very barky. My daughter rescued her from an abusive situation two months ago but I have two elderly dogs for whom she is just too much. She is athletic and would make a great running or hiking companion. She gets along well with dogs in the dogpark and at the beach.
