I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereIntroducing Juneau, a classic husky beauty! Although she came to the shelter undersocialized, Juneau has made great progress in foster. She is sometimes cautious with strangers, but will shower those she trusts with all the love. In a quiet home, Juneau will continue to thrive. She is potty trained (yard only), has great house manners, and can be left home alone. Walking outside on leash is a relatively new hobby, and she's currently working on not getting over excited when she sees other dogs. She has strong prey drive, which would make co-habitating with cats unlikely. Juneau would enjoy being your one and only companion, but could also do well with another tolerant dog -- she has been playful with puppies in foster, and snuggles with calm adult dogs. She has also spent time with respectful kids, who report she is softer than a fleece blanket! Juneau is 3 years old and 52 lbs. Follow her in foster with @adopt.this.dog.eastbay on Instagram! Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:7Togo is a handsome 1-year-old husky mix with a snowy white coat and a gentle, reserved personality. Weighing 60 pounds, he's an independent soul who thrives with patience and calm, understanding interactions. Initially shy, Togo takes time to warm up to new people, but with the right approach, his affectionate side shines. During a recent meet-and-greet, he hesitated with new faces but leaned in for pets and rubs after forming a bond with his handler. He's food-motivated, knows how to sit, and responds well to gentle, positive reinforcement. Togo enjoys calm, outdoor exploration and prefers smaller, low-key playgroups where he can interact on his terms. He's best suited for a quiet home with older children or adults and could thrive as a solo dog or alongside a calm, independent canine friend. If you're ready to help this sensitive boy and provide him with a safe place to feel secure, Togo will reward you with loyalty and affection. Could he be the companion you've been searching for?December 12, 2024, 2:48 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog M:4Looking for a dog who's equal parts playful and loving? Pudding, a 2-year-old male Siberian Husky mix, is ready to find a loving home that matches his vibrant personality. Weighing in at 61 pounds, he's got a big heart to match his striking blond coat. What Makes Pudding Special: Playful Energy: He loves a game of fetch and is always up for chasing a tennis ball around the yard. Affectionate Nature: This sweet boy adores pets and attention, often leaning in for love. He's a social butterfly! Eager Learner: Pudding already knows "sit" and is highly food-motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training. Ideal home: Pudding would do well in an active household that can provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He'd love to have appropriately matched dog friends or could thrive as a solo pup with regular socialization opportunities. While he's got a sweet and gentle demeanor, Pudding can get overstimulated sometimes. Families with no kids or older kids would be great for him! With consistent training and clear boundaries, he's quick to learn what's appropriate. If you're ready for a fun-loving, smart, and cuddly companion, Pudding is ready to meet you!         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices) December 14, 2024, 6:57 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:1Meet Garland, the 3-year-old husky with a heart as big as his smile! This sweet, fluffy boy is ready to bring joy to any home with his friendly and affectionate nature. Garland is a treat-loving, playful pup who enjoys walks, belly rubs, and lots of cuddles. While he can be energetic, he walks beautifully on a leash and would make a fantastic running partner once he gets a little more training. Garland is eager to please, already knows sit and down, and picks up new commands quickly—he even mastered "touch" in no time! Though he's a bit shy at first when getting leashed, Garland warms up quickly and is super social, greeting everyone like they’re his new best friend. He’s gentle with other dogs, and while he enjoys meeting new canine companions, he’s just as happy being the solo star of your household. Garland is a very chill husky who doesn’t mind the rain and loves exploring the world at his own pace. He's looking for a family who can continue his training and give him plenty of affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving dog who’s always ready to bring a smile to your face, Garland might be a great match! He's already got his holiday bow tie and jingle bell collar on, now all he needs is a home for the holidays.
