I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Caesar, a 1-year-old, 53-pound pup ready to bring his playful, loving nature into your home! Caesar has all the energy and smarts of a working breed pup, with a gentle disposition that makes him an affectionate and loyal companion. He's attentive, eager to learn, and always up for fun! On a recent field trip, Caesar proved to be a dream in the car, settling in calmly after a quick whine. On leash, he had a little puppy excitement, but quickly checked in with his handler and responded well to redirection. He was curious about people and other dogs but remained easy to manage and wasn’t reactive. Caesar also seems to know "sit" and is ready to learn more—we’re confident that with some tasty treats, he’ll be a quick study! Caesar would thrive in a home with patient adopters who can continue his training, helping him refine his manners and curb his excitement. He’s gentle when playing with other dogs at the shelter. He could do well with a compatible canine sibling, or as an only dog with plenty of playdates. If you're ready for a smart, sweet pup with lots of potential, Caesar is waiting to meet you! I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:8Olio is a high-energy husky mix who's ready to bring fun and excitement into the right home! At just 2 years old and weighing 53 pounds, he’s a playful, toy and treat-motivated pup with lots of potential. He’s eager to learn, already knows “sit,” and has a soft mouth for treats, making him a very good boy when it comes to training. Olio loves to play fetch with a stuffie and checks in with his humans often, showing his affectionate side. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything, so his new family should be ready to give him plenty of physical and mental stimulation. When it comes to doggy friends, Olio has a lot of enthusiasm and loves to wrestle, but he’s still learning the ropes of how to interact appropriately. He'd do best in a home with a well-matched dog friend, or as a solo pup with regular social opportunities. Story
Xavier is a striking Husky mix with a beautiful coat and vibrant personality. This lovable boy is a volunteer favorite, and it’s easy to see why. Xavier is incredibly friendly with people and is always eager to make new human friends. He thrives in an environment where he can get lots of attention and exercise, so an active household would be perfect for him. When it comes to outings, Xavier is a dream on a leash. He walks beautifully, stays focused, and is easy to handle, making him a joy on walks, runs, or hikes and he seems to be housetrained, making him a well-behaved companion indoors as well! A fenced yard would be ideal for him to burn off his energy, but he also enjoys a good mental challenge, so puzzle toys or interactive games are a great way to keep him entertained. He’s not a fan of other dogs encroaching on his space and would do best in a setting where he can have all the attention to himself, so a home without other dogs would make him the happiest. Xavier’s Husky instincts also mean he’s not a fan of cats—he tends to pester them, so a cat-free home is a must. If you're looking for a loyal, adventurous companion who will keep you active and engaged, Xavier might just be the perfect fit.

Story
Coyote is an apt moniker for this young lad: a little bit playful, a little bit shy, a little bit wild. Coyote is a great pup who is just growing up. He starts out a little unsure around humans, but once he figures out you’re there to take him out, he warms up pretty quickly. In the playroom, he will give you play bows and let you rub his soft belly. Coyote is also a good walker on leash and does not react to other dogs. He seems comfortable around them. He has bouts of playfulness and bursts of energy on walks, like any young dog should. He would make an excellent exercise buddy. He may have been running stray for a while, because Coyote arrived pretty skinny and exhibits some food possessiveness, so shelter staff are working on making him feel more secure with regular meals. This guy is ready to be your constant companion – come meet him soon.

Story
Meet Frankie – The Fun-Loving Shepherd Husky Mix Frankie is a 10-month-old Shepherd Husky mix with a heart as big as his playful personality! This sweet boy looks like a little coyote with his lean build and soulful puppy eyes that will melt your heart. Frankie’s journey began in the Fresno area, where he was surrendered after his homeless owner could no longer care for him. Despite his rough start, Frankie is thriving in foster care and ready to find a forever home that matches his zest for life. Why Frankie Will Steal Your Heart Playful and Happy: Frankie is full of puppy energy and always ready to play. Whether it’s with dogs, kids, or toys, he’s the life of the party. Adventurous Spirit: He’d be a fantastic jogging or hiking buddy for an active family that loves the outdoors. Friendly and Social: Frankie loves everyone he meets, including other dogs and children. He’s also tested OK with cats, but any feline friends would need to be very tolerant of his playful nature. Compact Yet Mighty: At 48 pounds, he’s lean and lanky but may gain another 5–10 pounds as he fills out. What Frankie Needs in a Forever Home Commitment to Training: Frankie is eager to learn and would thrive with a family dedicated to teaching him basic manners and structure. He’s still learning personal space and could use guidance to channel his enthusiasm. Active Lifestyle: An ideal home would keep Frankie busy with regular exercise, whether it’s daily runs, long hikes, or trips to the dog park. Love and Patience: Frankie has so much love to give, but he’s still a puppy at heart. He needs a family ready to embrace his goofy, energetic side while helping him grow into a well-mannered adult. Space to Roam: A home with a yard where Frankie can stretch his legs and explore would be perfect for him. Progress in Foster Care: House and Crate Training: Frankie is making great progress with both and is eager to please his humans. Healthy and Thriving: While he’s slightly underweight now, with the right care and nutrition, he’ll be at his ideal weight in no time. Frankie is a sweet, happy, and loving pup who just needs a little direction to reach his full potential. If you’re looking for an active, affectionate adventure buddy with a heart of gold, Frankie could be your perfect match! Could you be the one to give him the forever family he deserves? Story
Ivy is a 1-year-old chow mix pup looking for a forever home. Ivy is lovely but still very much a puppy. She is still quite mouthy. Ivy is housebroken and loves toys. She is great in the car but needs more training not to pull on a leash. She will alert bark when someone comes to the door but is not very barky. My daughter rescued her from an abusive situation two months ago but I have two elderly dogs for whom she is just too much. She is athletic and would make a great running or hiking companion. She gets along well with dogs in the dogpark and at the beach.
