Akira IS AVAILALBE (updated 08-23-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Akira, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21954&name=AkiraAkira is a 7-year-old female Husky/Malamute mix who weighs around 65 pounds. She is a sweet and loving companion who likes to snuggle and play, is friendly to everyone (except cats), and plays great with other dogs when at daycare/boarding. She is great with kids, very patient and gentle with the two toddler boys in the home, and loves to act as a vacuum for them at meal time.Akira is housebroken, and currently sleeps freely on doggy beds inside the home, but is crate trained. She loves to take walks and play, but does know how to turn off that Husky energy. Akira knows basic commands and takes to learning new thing quickly, especially when treats are involved. No howling, though she will let you know when she wants something, which are usually pets and snuggles. She is an absolute sweetheart and would benefit from an active family with lots of love and attention to give. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.September 26, 2024, 12:22 am

For more information and the adoption application for Sammy, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22667&name=SammySammy was found wandering alone, wearing a black harness attached to a white leash. People had previously seen him being walked by an elderly man near Del High Park, but no one could find that gentleman and Sammy was taken to the shelter. He was checked in, given an impound number of #A1818905, and sat there waiting for his family to find him. His time was running out, no one came for him, and the shelter had now given him a euthanasia date. We rescued Sammy and put up signs in the area in which he was found, hoping his owner would see them, but no one has responded. This super fluffy guy with the biscuit paws is thought to be around 4-5 years old and isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t a high maintenance diva. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been through so much already and we would love to be able to let him adjust inside a wonderful foster (or adoptive) home. Right now, heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d do best as the only dog.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s on the small side for a husky but make no mistake, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s your typical young, super-energetic, rough and tumble husky. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s in a foster home with multiple dogs and is doing great. She is learning her manners but in usual Husky fashion she forgets them more often than not. She would do best with an active family and another high energy dog to play with. Story
With heavy hearts, we are looking to rehome our dog, Bohdi, to a loving and suitable home. Bohdi is a 3-year-old Shepherd-Husky mix whom we rescued from a shelter when he was about 7-12 months old. He is incredibly smart, affectionate in the right environment, and has been professionally trained by Sit Means Sit. Bohdi knows several commands, including sit, down, place (go to a specific spot), recall (come), and off. While Bohdi has been a cherished member of our family, he has shown discomfort around our toddler, including resource guarding and growling behaviors. These behaviors make it clear that Bohdi would thrive in a quieter home without young children where he can feel more secure. We want him to have the best chance at a happy, stress-free life. Bohdi will do wonderfully with someone who is experienced with dogs and is willing to continue providing structure and care. He has a lot of love to give and would make a fantastic companion.
