Story
Aruba is the Bea Arthur of huskies. Sassy with a dry sense of humor - but underneath all the side eye is a big ol' heart of gold. * 8 years old * Petite for a husky * Mellow * Playful and silly * Hoarse little husky bark * Super easy to walk Aruba does fine around other dogs as long as they don't expect a playmate. (Too much attention seems to make her cranky.) You can meet this golden girl any afternoon but Monday at our main location of 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California. And remember, there is no adoption fee if you are 62 or older!

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereIntroducing Juneau, a classic husky beauty! Although she came to the shelter undersocialized, Juneau has made great progress in foster. She is sometimes cautious with strangers, but will shower those she trusts with all the love. In a quiet home, Juneau will continue to thrive. She is potty trained (yard only), has great house manners, and can be left home alone. Walking outside on leash is a relatively new hobby, and she's currently working on not getting over excited when she sees other dogs. She has strong prey drive, which would make co-habitating with cats unlikely. Juneau would enjoy being your one and only companion, but could also do well with another tolerant dog -- she has been playful with puppies in foster, and snuggles with calm adult dogs. She has also spent time with respectful kids, who report she is softer than a fleece blanket! Juneau is 3 years old and 52 lbs. Follow her in foster with @adopt.this.dog.eastbay on Instagram! Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:17At 9 years old and 56 pounds, Brooks is a gentle Husky mix who’s ready to find his forever home. This sweet senior loves the simple joys in life—ear scritches, tasty treats, and a good squeaky ball to play with. He’s a pro on leash, takes treats politely, and already knows “sit”—a quick learner who’d thrive with positive reinforcement training. Brooks is a sensitive soul who may need a little time to warm up, but with patience and love, his affectionate side shines through. He’s the kind of dog who will gaze at you with soft eyes, grateful just to be by your side. Brooks would prefer to be your one-and-only dog, soaking up all your attention in a calm, loving home. If you’re ready to give a senior dog the love and security he deserves, come meet Brooks today and let him steal your heart         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices) November 30, 2024, 2:47 pm

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:3Meet Lobo! This handsome 2-year-old, 76-pound husky mix is a calm, easy-going guy with a heart full of sweetness. While Lobo may not be the most eager for playtime, he’s got a quiet charm that shines through when you take the time to get to know him. He’s a low-key boy who enjoys a gentle walk and has a lovely, loving gaze that’ll melt your heart. Lobo may be a little on the chunky side right now, but he’s got the sweetest round eyes and a big, wiggly tail that shows his affectionate side. Volunteers report Lobo was a total angel during his spa day, patiently sitting through his bath and soaking up all the attention from the volunteers. He’s got the most relaxed demeanor and truly enjoys getting some love from his favorite humans. Lobo would do well with an adopter who appreciates his calm, independent nature. He’s not overly energetic, so a nice, loving home where he can slowly shed a few pounds and enjoy some easy walks and cuddles would be perfect. Lobo would be happy as a solo dog or with a dog buddy who shares his low-key vibe. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who’s full of love (and maybe a little extra fluff!), Lobo might be a great match!December 1, 2024, 5:49 pm

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog H:7Meet Hannah! This gorgeous 1-year-old redhead is a bundle of fun, ready to bring joy and excitement to her forever home. Weighing in at 46 pounds, she’s a playful girl who loves to romp around with her doggy pals in playgroup. She’s always the first one to start a game of chase and has a husky-sized personality—vocal, confident, and full of enthusiasm. Hannah is still learning the ropes when it comes to leash walking, and she’ll need an adopter who’s ready to work with her on positive reinforcement training. She’s treat-motivated and eager to please, so with a little patience, she’ll be the perfect walking companion. She’s a bouncy, wiggle-filled sweetheart who loves affection and will shower you with love. Hannah would thrive with an active family who can provide plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Story
Kazhem is a very handsome, somewhat shy Akita mix who warms up slowly to new people. But once he is comfortable he will share his goofy personality with you, running zoomies in the grass and showing off his great smile and happy tail wag.He gets along great with other dogs on the beach, the trails and probably in the dog park, but would prefer to be the only doggo in his forever home. Once Kazhem bonds with you he`s very devoted and wants to be with you all the time. Retirees, professionals who work at home, and anyone else who could make him a part of their daily life would be his dream family!
