Story
Hello! My name is Yogi and I’m a 2-year-old male Husky weighing 20 kg (44 lbs). With my stunning Husky looks and playful personality, I’m sure to steal your heart! I’m full of love and affection, always ready to show off my playful and charming side. I get along well with other dogs and enjoy making new friends, both furry and human. When I see people come and go, I sometimes let out a signature Husky howl to say, “Don’t forget about me!” I’m energetic and love outdoor adventures. While I can pull a bit on the leash during walks, I calm down quickly and walk nicely once I’ve burned off some of my excitement. I’m also very food-motivated and will happily accept treats from anyone, making it easy to become fast friends. Because I’m a true Husky at heart, I’d love to be adopted by someone familiar with the breed and its unique traits. My high energy and lively personality are part of my charm, but I need someone who can keep up with me and understand my needs. I love to play and often express my desire for attention with high energy, but that’s just my way of saying, “Let’s have fun together!” Above all, I crave love and connection with my humans and promise to be a loyal, affectionate companion. Are you ready to share your life with a fun, energetic, and lovable Husky? I can’t wait to meet you and start our adventures together! 🐾 To see more videos:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyEuMiuW6Ww58lIWSlAQjTbitIyvmFWwX

Story
Meet Ally, a stunning 4-year-old  Husky and one of our Wanju meat farm survivors. Ally’s bright and cheerful personality shone through even in the toughest conditions. She is incredibly social with people and warms up to strangers instantly. If you give her a little attention, she’ll roll over and show you her belly! She adores humans, including children, and loves being touched and held. Picking her up is no problem at all—she’s all about that human connection. When it comes to other dogs, Ally is friendly and enjoys playing, even with new friends. However, she can get annoyed with overly energetic or pushy dogs and values her alone time and personal space. If another dog challenges her, she isn’t one to back down. Because of this, Ally would thrive either as the only dog in her new home or with a calm, low-energy companion who respects her boundaries. We haven’t had a chance to observe Ally around cats or birds, so her reactions to them remain unknown. With a moderate energy level, Ally loves outdoor activities but also appreciates her downtime afterward. She’s a big fan of cozying up in her house or hammock and thoroughly enjoys relaxing in her own space. On walks, Ally’s curious and loves exploring, which sometimes results in her pulling on the leash to go her preferred way. That said, she’s manageable and calms down as the walk progresses. She’s enthusiastic about her outings but settles nicely once she’s had her fill. Ally has excellent manners when it comes to food—she doesn’t guard her meals from people or other dogs. She’s not prone to barking and doesn’t exhibit separation anxiety. She’s also well-behaved in a crate and potty trained outdoors. Despite her challenging start in life, Ally greeted everyone at the dog farm with a wagging tail and bright eyes. Story
Meet Papa BearThis extremely handsome boy came to us from an unfortunate hoarding situation with 8 other dogs. His heartbreaking start to life left him cowering, terrified of everything and everyone. After lots and lots of time, patience and love from the staff, plenty of hard work from Bear, and even more courage, he has blossomed into a kind and full of personality fellow. He still has a lot to learn about the world and is a careful and cautious boy with all new things. He will need a very kind and patient home who can continue his progress in the real world. Papa Bear gets along with other dogs and it will be critical that his new home has either another female dog or regular access to a dog who can be his bestie, his role model, and a playful companion. No small dogs though please, Bear is more comfortable with dogs his own size. His home should also have a yard to play in while he works up the courage to navigate a new neighbourhood on a leash. Do you think you have the gentle and supportive home that Bear needs? Fill out an application for us to review, and ask staff to arrange a meet at the Burnaby Centre. Papa Bear will need time to build some trust with his new guardians so an approved applicant will want to be prepared for a few bonding sessions in the shelter before the big day. Visit our centre to meet this pet during viewing hours at 3202 Norland Ave, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs Our viewing/adoption hours are: 1pm-5pm Monday - Wednesday, Friday 1pm-4pm Weekends Closed Thursday to the public. Primary Color: Black Brown Weight: 24.9 Age: 2yrs 7mths 3wks

Story
Lovely handsome young Marty McFly found himself in our shelter after he was found tied to a bench outside. This dog was very scared when he was first brought in but has really blossomed into a lovely dog. Marty loves to play with other dogs and absolutely adores the attention he is receiving from our staff and volunteers. He is exceptionally smart and obedient. He learns fast and comes every time he is called and sits in front waiting for his treat. He is highly treat motivated and would benefit from a home who wants to teach him new things. We feel he would fair best in an adult only home but could be ok with teenagers as he is nervous about body handling. He can get overstimulated and mouthy when he is scared. He is fantastic with the other dogs and shows absolutely no reactive or aggressive behavior. He walks well on leash and enjoys going on his walks. He will be neutered soon and is up to date on worming and shots. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $374 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.

Story
Palomo, born April 2023 is looking for a home. He is a husky mix and expected to grow to about 55 -60 lbs. His mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. Palomo was in the poorest health and would not have made it had the shelter not intervened. Unfortunately his shelter also recently was hit with a hurricane, so he'd really love a happy break with a real family to love him. Palomo is an energetic boy, who is house trained. His time in foster care has been with cats, which he is ok with unless they run, so he might be safest in a cat free home. He is also prone to chase other animals like farm chickens. Palomo is a chaser and is prone to want to chase cars and can be reactive to dogs on leash, but has been playful off leash with other dogs. Palomo would be best in a non urban area with lots of room to run. If you think you might be his happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. You can find our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw” Palomo can fly to Vancouver in mid November, with tbd flight date options for Seattle, Calgary and Edmonton depending on where his magical family awaits.
