Story
Hi all, my name is Silas. I am a very loving four year old, male, husky mix who needs a new home. My family adores me, but I am not doing well with the new toddler in my family. Loud noises and fast movements are upsetting for me. So my family is making the painful decision to find me a child free home.  I am very good with other dogs and I adore cats. I would LOVE to share my new home with one of those fascinating creatures. Once I am comfortable with you I am very cuddly. I love to get belly rubs and to snuggle. You will love how well behaved I am. I am great on the leash, and have no food or toy aggression.  If you are looking for a dog to play and snuggle with who will keep you smiling, I am your boy. I am neutered and vaccinated. My adoption fee is $800 Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1949542##

Hey big world. My name is RACCOON and here is a little info about me:Breed: HuskyAge: 1-1/2 yearsGender: maleWeight: 46 lbsHeight: tbdHighlight(s): playful, energetic, social If you Peter Piper picked a pack of peppered puppies, how many puppies would Peter Piper have picked? Why, all of them of course. But there is just me, so that makes it easy for you.My rescuer found me on the road in the Middle East. It was in the dark of the night and I was in the middle of the road. I could have gone under the wheel of a car at any moment. Thankfully, my rescuer suddenly saw me and swerved the car to avoid running me over. That was just a couple weeks ago.I currently live with a small dog and 3 cats at the boarding house where I am staying. I love to hobnob with the cats. For a husky pup, I actually seem pretty gentle. No bonzai bounce in this kid, but I can be like any puppy, mischievious and playful... like a raccoon. I kind of look like a raccoon too, hence my name. Playing in water is fun. https://youtu.be/g6pn3t3zOvI. Teething time: https://youtu.be/k16ka0tG71s, past it now though.Being a social boy, I'd love a home with other fur brothers or sisters:  https://youtu.be/fHqO7oa2V_k, even the 2 legged kind of siblings is fine by me. Heck, let's get everyone in on the fun. I know a good thing when I find it though and like to hoard all the attention to myself. Hopefully, we can do hiking and other outdoor adventures. Especially snow activities, I'm a sled dog, right? Energetically, bounding through the snow, pulling Santa's sleigh, oh wait, that's the reindeer. Ha.I'd love a yard best, but if we manage enough action out and about, I should be ok without. Another vid of me with buddies: https://youtube.com/shorts/RBsV_sJRHD0. Howdy all. I'm INSPIRE (Blue) and here is a bit of info on me:Breed: Husky mixAge: 3 yearsGender: maleWeight: 20 kgHeight: 58 cmCountry of origin: LebanonHighlights: friensly, playful, sociable, good vehicle traveler, goofy, happy Are you ready to be inspired? I'm all about bringing you an upbeat look on life and inspiring you to the heights of happiness.I was found hiding under piles of trash by the side of the road with my sister. We were young puppies, around 5 months of age, extremely skinny, starving and dehydrated. The video of our rescue shows tis drinking water for over 3 minutes straight. In typical husky fashion, my goofy personality is hard to miss. My exaggerated facial expressions and floppy ears were characteristic as a puppy, and still are - I am still the same quirky little puppy today, 2 years later.A few months after I was rescued, I had a sudden health decline, and was diagnosed with meningitis. It developed quickly, and luckily was caught early. I was hospitalized and treated for the condition and made a miraculous full recovery. Since then, I have been living with my foster mom and foster sister Zoey (also posted.)I am the epitome of 'social butterfly' amongst my foster group and make sure everyone joins in on the fun.I get along well with dogs and my bond with my foster sister Zoe is a true testament to my friendly, loving nature. While neither cats nor kids have been a part of my repertoire, my friendly nature may well lend to a good relationship with either. While I may be fearful of men at first meet, with a slow intro... and some treats, I readily warm up. No issue with women and have developed strong relationships with men, as well. I just need a little time to feel safe at first. I do well walking on a leash, though am inclined to tug when over aroused. I alao travel well in the car.I have established a special place in the hearts of my foster. She admits she will miss me the most. Energy level: highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: Afraid of men at first. Story
Hiya frenzz! My name is Tula and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Husky Mix Age: 1 year 1 month Gender: Female Weight: 28 lbs (12.5 kgs)  Height: 50 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 65 cm (head to butt) Current Location: Guadalajara, Mexico  RESCUE STORY - My family surrendered me to the vet when I was just 7 months old because they couldn't take good care of me. I was hungry and desperately needed some TLC! My skin was very itchy and needed serious help too. The vet took speical care of me and I was dewormed and had my skin fixed too! I was at the vet for about 2 months and now am looking for my furever home.  I have all my vaccines and I'm a happy, healthy girl. I loooove attention and sometimes bark if I want you to play with me. My fosters say I'm not a noisy dog at all but can bark when I'm playing or want your attention. I am used to being in my cozy kennel or carrier, where I am very well behaved. At home I try to be sooo good but because I'm still a puppy, when I get left alone I tend to get into mischief  :D  TEMPERAMENT -  I am an active, loving and sociable dog. My fosters say I am sweet, active and adventurous! I loooove having doggy friends and get along well with others, although I sometimes am excited with my pup energy and can get a little rough. But I can learn to be chill! I'm very intrigued by cats and am so very gentle as I like to be around them, even thouigh I don't get too close. I am a good girl around children, but due to my puppy energy, I can be somewhat abrupt without intention. But I want to be a well behaved lady with with some behaviour training.  ENERGY LEVEL - Medium GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown (no footage provided) but testing can be requested.  Dogs –  Yes! I can be a bit rough with my puppy energy but I live with multiple pups and do well with them. Cats – Yes! I live with a cat now but I don't get too close, see here PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. Positive reinforcement will help me learn! I just want to bounce around and enjoy my walks hehe. You can see me walk here House trained – Work in progress. I am still in the process of training to go potty in the yard. Crate trained - I may need some additional training and patience. Car rides - I may need some additional training and patience. Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. NOTE: I have a scar from sterilization and another from a previous dermatological problem that is now completely resolved. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + PST and GST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2232003##

Story
Meet Papa Bear!If you have been following this handsome fellow on social media he's come along way over the 100 days in our care. His journey from being rescued in such a difficult situation to gradually becoming more comfortable with people, new environments and experiences is really heartwarming. This was through the dedication and patience by staff and volunteers. It's amazing to see how much he's grown, from being terrified of human touch to seeking out comfort in a bed. He's obviously still a work in progress, but with right guardian(s), he will continue to thrive and learn to fully embrace life as a pet. He will require some consistency and understanding in a new home. Papa enjoys the company of other female dogs and would do well with another one, (that's confident) in the home. He is not fond of cats and children make him very nervous. Papa Bear also requires a household with access to a safe and secure yard. You may ask what accomplishments Papa Bear has made thus far? Introducing him to being outside the comfort of his kennel; walking from his kennel to an outside yard; exposed to a collar/leash and harness: learning to walk on a lead graduating to adventuring outside of the shelter; to going on longer walks with staff/volunteers; familiarizing him to a vehicle, followed by a jump inside; short car rides to the park where he was rewarded with a good long walk; to a longer car ride and taken to a staff member's home. At first, being indoor a home was very overwhelming for him but he soon jumped up on the bed and relaxed. Do you think you might be interested in applying for Papa Bear, or know anyone who might be? Please submit an online application found on the SPCA Website. His journey could be such a rewarding experience for someone who has the time and patience to guide him.Papa Bear will need time to build some trust with his new guardians so an approved applicant will want to be prepared for a few bonding sessions in the shelter before the big day. Story
Palomo, born April 2023 is looking for a home. He is a husky mix and expected to grow to about 55 -60 lbs. His mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. Palomo was in the poorest health and would not have made it had the shelter not intervened. Unfortunately his shelter also recently was hit with a hurricane, so he'd really love a happy break with a real family to love him. Palomo is an energetic boy, who is house trained. His time in foster care has been with cats, which he is ok with unless they run, so he might be safest in a cat free home. He is also prone to chase other animals like farm chickens. Palomo is a chaser and is prone to want to chase cars and can be reactive to dogs on leash, but has been playful off leash with other dogs. Palomo would be best in a non urban area with lots of room to run. If you think you might be his happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. You can find our application here: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw” Palomo can fly to Vancouver in mid November, with tbd flight date options for Seattle, Calgary and Edmonton depending on where his magical family awaits.

Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023,is 50 lbs and is looking for a home. She was rescued as a young puppy with her littermates who were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl. She’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. She s a fast learner and likes to cuddle with her humans. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but can fly to a Canadian home near you! Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Hi there! My name is Bryce, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Alaskan MalamuteAge: 4 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 73 lbHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency I was found wondering the streets and ended up in a city pound as a stray. Despite having a microchip, no one came to claim me, and I was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, I was saved and brought to a shelter, but unfortunately, I've been there for over a year without finding a family to call my own. Living in Korea's hot and humid summers hasn't been easy for me as a Malamute. I'm really hoping to find a home where I can be comfortable and happy. I'm not shy at all when it comes to meeting new people. In fact, I love it when strangers pet me and give me belly rubs. I'm a big fan of scratches and don't mind being brushed. Just be prepared for some shedding! I get along well with other dogs, regardless of their size. I've been living with 30-40 dogs at the shelter, so I'm used to being around many furry friends. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I walk well on a leash and am confident in urban environments. Sudden noises and car rides don't scare me at all. In fact, I absolutely love car rides and enjoy looking out the window, feeling the wind on my face. I want to assure you that I haven't shown any signs of aggression. However, I do have a little possessive behavior when it comes to certain things. Sometimes, I won't let go of something I have in my mouth. But don't worry, the shelter is working on this with me, and it's recommended to continue "leave it" training after adoption. I don't have separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. I am crate-trained, but I haven't been housetrained yet since I haven't had the chance to live in a home. With a little patience and guidance, I'm sure I'll catch on quickly. I'm just a lovable Malamute looking for a family to call my own. If you're ready to give me the love and care I deserve, please consider adopting me. I promise to be a loyal and affectionate companion for life. Energy Level: Moderate - enjoys outdoor activities I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: Unknown/none observed. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1907452##
