Story
Hi there, I'm Polar! I'm a friendly, playful, energetic, and smart fellow. I'm also quite the adventurer and hiking is my favorite activity! There's something about the thrill of exploring that I just can't get enough of. I'm also a big fan of other dogs! Especially pups close to my size who can match my rowdy play style. I can be a bit too much for the smaller dogs though, so I'd do best in a home without them or any cats. But don't worry, I'm not all energy all the time, I also love to snuggle up and relax. I'm the perfect balance of fun and calm. If you're looking for a companion who can keep up with your adventures and also be there for quiet, comforting moments, then I'm your dog! Let's make some unforgettable memories together. My adoption fee is $350 and includes the following: -Spay/neuter surgery -All current vaccinations -Microchip -FREE wellness exam through VCA Animal Hospitals -$25 gift voucher from our friends at My Pet Market For more information about me or to schedule a meet and greet appointment, please complete an adoption questionnaire.

Story
Jameson has been with us a year now and we are still struggling to find the right home for this sweet boy, who is so endearing and very adoptable! Jameson was saved from the e-list at MCACC where he was listed for being too scared. One of the first things we learned about Jameson after he arrived is that he actually survived distemper as a puppy. This is a VERY rare disease to survive, so this lucky boy has cheated death twice now! His teeth are a little worse than normal for his age (typical of distemper survivors) and he has some minor neurological traits that are remnants of the disease. For example, his tongue sticks out a little bit, and he can struggle with walking up stairs – though not for lack of trying! Jameson is a very lovable, goofy boy with so much personality. He is more high-energy and loves to play with other dogs and to chase lizards in his yard. He does well with the other large dogs and he likes running up and down the fence with his neighbors’ smaller dog – he may be ok in a home with small dogs, but we haven’t tested a play date yet. He loves walks and walks very well with minimal pulling. He has not shown any desire to escape his fenced-in yard and his foster says he even has great recall, which is more rare for a husky. He does fine in a crate but will whine as he does not like to be confined to that small space. With a yard he is very independent and can keep himself busy. Jameson has some minor resource-guarding issues with treats that have improved leaps and bounds since he came to us. He had just one resource-guarding bite, and after this we sent him to a board and train program. He has not had a single incident since then, and with warning from his foster will allow her to take things from him with no issues now! Jameson loves food and treats, so positive reinforcement works great for him. His trainer left us with some very helpful notes on him at the conclusion of his training: Jameson is a super sweet and funny boy that tries to do things right. His future owner just needs to be patient because the neurological damage is definitely a bit of a handicap at times. I know Jameson knows the commands but I do give him time to put his body in the right, most comfortable position. So, he might not fall down the instant I ask him to lay down or sit but he is obeying and I can tell he tries. He gets distracted easily but all it takes it a little reminder, a second command, and he is back in business. Jameson has never tried to be a brat or very sassy. Jameson is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up on you once he gets to know you. He has done well around teenagers in his foster home and new strangers. He’s also talkative and loves to sings the husky song, especially around people and cars. He needs someone who is active but also patient. He’s a very good boy but just needs someone who is willing to understand and work with him. A home with one or more other active dogs would be ideal an outlet for his energy. If you’re looking for a sweet, fun-loving adventure buddy, Jameson is your guy! https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

Story
Blue is another husky we saved from the e-list at MCACC! He landed here from an incident with an animal control officer when he was being captured as a stray - he mouthed this person as a reaction while scared (did not puncture or bite) and was e-listed as a result. His behavior in his foster home since then has truly reinforced just how much this was a one-off fear-response. We haven’t seen any aggression towards humans when it comes to being handled from him! His fosters report that Blue has been a great dog overall. He’s a bit on the higher energy side and is very playful with their other young husky, engaging in typical rough-housing husky-style play. He’s also talkative, and loves to play fetch with tennis balls (and will even hoard them!). He is definitely a little more alpha with other dogs, so we think he would do best in a home with others that are more submissive or medium-tempered. We haven’t had him around small dogs just yet either (or cats).??Blue was more timid and not very trusting of his fosters at first but warmed up pretty quickly. He has become very affectionate in a short time and now loves to cuddle. He has also been very easy to handle for his fosters when it comes to grooming - he enjoys water and is easy to bath. They have a pet vacuum that he also thinks is pretty cool, and loves to be brushed! This definitely sets him apart from many of the other huskies we have met! His fosters are working with him on crate-training, but have said that he isn’t a huge fan so far. He also has shown resource guarding with food, but this can be easily corrected by feeding separately, which we do recommend for him. We are recommending a home with no young kids - teens and older would likely be ok - and owners with breed experience are strongly preferred. ??Blue is a great boy with quite a bit of husky character. Apply to meet him today! https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

Story
Meet Dominic! This 2-year-old male husky/malamute mix was rescued from MCACC’s e-list after spending 4 months at the shelter and suffering from kennel stress. Unfortunately, many dogs suffer from kennel stress due to being secluded, having constant loud noises, and limited ability to release energy after being pent up for months on end in a small, confined area. We’re so glad we were able to get Dominic out of the shelter and safely into a foster home where he can decompress. Dominic had a little bit of a rocky start in his foster home, but has shown great improvement over time. After about a month his anxiety has drastically improved and he has started to do better with being alone. Dominic loves to be around people. He will seek out pets and belly rubs but is also not overly affectionate. He is selective as to how and where he is pet and will let you know if you do something he doesn’t like. Most of his behaviors as far as not liking being brushed, reactivity towards dogs outside of the home will improve with time, training, and patience. He is currently attending a board and train program and we can’t wait to share an update on his behavior after this is complete! Dominic will need to feel secure a know that he is finally home once he is placed to really be comfortable, which will take some time and patience. He can be playful with other dogs but has a prey drive so a home with cats would not be suitable. Dominic has been living in a home with both large and small dogs and has done well with them. His foster home also said a home with older children would be ok for him. Crate time is not an issue for Dominic which is great for a husky and one that had been in a shelter. The ideal home for Dominic is one where the family understands that he needs time to adjust, feel secure, and understand that he won’t be abandoned. He needs a family who is willing to continue to work with him on the training he is receiving. Once he has that he will become an amazing part of the family. If you feel like you can give this boy a chance, then please fill out the online adoption application on our website today. Adoption application: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/

Story
Meet Ronald aka Ronnie. Ronnie is a 1 year old Husky/Labrador Retriever mix. Not knowing what was going on or where his family was caused Ronnie to become scared and very stressed at MCACC. Ronnie was E-Listed due to his fear and stress, but we were able to rescue him because one of our volunteers stepped up to foster him. Since Ronnie was saved and decompressed with a new family, he has been able to let his guard down and become gentle sweetheart. When Ronnie was taken in by his foster family he was very shy at first. It took him a few days to become comfortable in the home, but he quickly bonded with the lady of the house. Ronnie is a medium energy dog who loves to go on walks to release his energy. Like many huskies, he likes to chew and loves chew toys. He is easily redirected if he goes beyond chewing toys. Ronnie does well in a crate but if he is left crated for 5+ hours he will become a little Houdini and try to get out. This amazing husky wants nothing more than to be a lap dog for his owner. Ronnie is very affectionate and loves cuddles, treats, and meal times. He is very playful with other animals and has done well with cats and dogs in and around the home. Ronnie does have some resource guarding with other dogs during meal time and should be fed with a barrier in between him and other dogs or in a separate room. He has no resource guarding with humans and can have his food taken away without issue. This boy is a true lady lover as he prefers females and it may take some time to warm up to men. Ronnie has been around children of all ages and has done very well with them. He loves the extra attention and chance to play. This playful pup would do amazing in an active home, as Ronnie does still have some puppy energy. All Ronnie wants is a forever home with a family who is patient enough to let him feel at home and to love on. If you think that Ronnie would complete your family, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Ronnie looks forward to meeting his furever family. https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
